I have this card in my laptop .... Mobility Radeon HD 3450 ... my system recognizes it as 512 of video ...
But the internet does not find a Mobility Radeon HD 3450 - 512mb... is normal?
That is giving me problems with video, black screens constantly...
It also takes video 1024gb ... so I have 1700gb of video ...
How can I change these values?
I can make it 512? not to touch the RAM

but now I can not find drivers for video ...
I tested with modtool ...
but I said that the driver is not compatible
I been watching Crysis gameplay footage on Youtube and have noticed some pop up on the lower spec MBP.
Would foliage appearing as if by magic be a result of having less memory in the GPU? or would it be down to system memory, the CPU or another factor I'm unaware of?
I'm planning on purchasing a Dell Studio 15 and I want it to play games like Grand Theft Auto 4 smoothly.
Now my question is, I have $1120 to spend, and can either afford to upgrade the video card to 512mb, OR keep it at 256mb and upgrade my HD to 500gb from 250gb. So will my fps and quality increases be significant enough to justify upgrading the video card to 512mb or would the 256mb suffice.
current build specs:
Intel Core 2 Duo T6500 2.1ghz
vista home premium x64
4gb ram
5400rpm HD
I don't play games too often. But I do watch videos & movies & sometimes work on photoshop or GIMP. So will 512MB graphic card make a huge difference compared to 256MB graphic card in my case?

View 10 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to price a Studio 14 on the Dell.com website, I get the following error when I match the, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4530 512MB, with an i7 processor (i.e. i7-720QM).
"The Video Card is not compatible with the Quad Core Processor selected, please update one of the selections."
I've tried google-ing this but nothing has turned up.
I've decided to try and play some games on it, only to find out I have some serious problems with it..
I've tried two different games, and the result is the same in both - the computer will hang about 1 minute after launching the game and only hard shutdown is possible (holding the power button)..
After doing a little analysis of the memory dump, I found out the graphics driver is the one to blame.................................
Recently purchased DV4-1000ea as follows;
2.26Ghz P8400 Core2Duo
2GB RAM
250GB HDD
256MB Dedicated (1024MB Shared) NVidia 9200m GS.
I liked the idea of the laptop having a HDMI output to connect to my TV to watch movies etc downloaded on iTunes. I thought the graphics card was going to be ample given that my housemates Macbook with 32mb shared graphics works just fine.
However, I am really disappointed with the graphics performance playing High quality video, in particular, H264 Quicktime files.
For example, I have downloaded a few 720p trailers from the apple website and torrent sites and when playing, the videos are choppy in most scenes and speech is not in sync with video a lot of the time. This is true for display on the laptop screen, as well as display on TV via HDMI.
I have checked CPU usage whilst such clips are playing and it's running quite comfortably at 40-50%.
I have downloaded the latest NVidea drivers from the NVidia website (version 7928).
Also, even music video previews in itunes (and subsequent previews) are choppy and out of sync whilst playing. I have tried apples suggestions of turning off 3d accleleration for DirectX but it makes things worst.
So at first I was confused but now I understand. First official, completely top to bottom support for all mobility cards (in the specified range of course) will come out with 10.3. What they didn't say that SOME mobility cards will be already supported with 10.2 and our " Dell (Studio XPS 16 Mobility Radeon HD 4670)" is on that list.
This was posted in another thread, but this wasn't the focus. They also have beta 10.3s...but I thought it was neat that official 10.2 WHQL certified drivers supported our card ....
i have a hp 8510p business notebook (gb967ea#akn) with a mobility radeon hd2600 - 256mb, winxp pro sp3 32bit. cpu intel core 2 duo t9300 2,5ghz, 4gb ram (2x2048mb kingston ddr2 800mhz).
i use original ati (desktop) drivers by adding
"ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600" = ati2mtag_RV630, PCIVEN_1002&DEV_9581
to the cn_####.inf file of the driver (currently 9.2) and installing ccc afterwards.
this assures me best possible performance (eg. ca. 100-200 points higher 3dmark06 score than other people get with the same notebook) and no errors/problems until now.
now i have 2 questions..
first regarding hypermemory, which should be 512mb according to hp.
ccc, sysinfo, siw from gotpala.com etc. all say my hd2600 has 256mb. Internal DAC 400mhz. ccc says core clock 500mhz, memory clock 600mhz. i heard people saying ccc showing total possible memory (= dedicated AND hypermemory) as memory size on their notebooks........
I have an HP dv6-1154TX notebook which has a mobility radeon 4650 graphics card. I read in a thread in this forum that you can overclock the GPU in the new version 9 catalyst drivers. When I go to the AMD site, there is no HD4650 under mobility radeon driver list.
Actually there are no HD series cards at all, only the older x1900, etc.. So do the HD series mobility radeons use the normal radeon drivers?
On notebookcheck, 5830 on Hp Envy is higher than 230M but I saw Ati 5830 is bad.
I have used 230M on DV6 i7 and it is good to play Call of Duty 6.

I just bought a new DV7T 2000 and would like to replace the hard drive that came with the computer with a new one. I am researching about putting XP on it and looking for the necessary drivers prior to the installation. I need help locating the graphic card driver, it's the brand new ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4530 512MB. I was looking all over the web and there was no info about it. The ATI site doesn't provide drivers anymore.

I managed the overclock my HP Pavilion DV7-2070eg with the ATI Mobility 4650 from stock 500/677 up to 680/800!
It runs like hell and its stable even after 3 hours of Benchmarking and playing Armed Assault 2.
I am looking at the HP DV4I video card and cannot find out anything about this card online. I see info on the desktop version but the mobility version seems to be new. Would this card be OK for light gaming -mostly older titles? Does anyone have this card or know where I can find some benchmarks? I know it's not top of the line. It's not even listed on notebookcheck.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've got HP dv7-2043cl laptop. I want to find out what max GPU temp do you guys get, when you put stress on the graphics card. I am interested only in DV7-2xxx series with Ati Mobility 4650. Mine is around 46-48 when idle. Temp goes up to 70-74 in around three minutes when I run the Fur Mark stability test (1600x900, MSAA 8x, post processing and xtreme burning turned on). Clocks are at stock frequencies.
I wouldn't care about the temperature (it is not actually that high), but I have a problem. The computer just turns off when I play some games. For instance, if I play Fallout 3 at ultra settings (1600x900, 8x msaa, hdr), the computer powers off after a couple of minutes. Same thing with Crysis Warhead at high setting (1280x720, no msaa), even Half-Life 2 at max settings! When I lower the resolution in Fallout 3 to 1280x720 and MSAA to 4x, everything seems to be fine. Same thing with Half-Life 2. No similar luck with Crysis though. Looks like Crysis utilizes every single bit out of the GPU in any case.

My new laptop has the Nvidia GeForce GO 8600M GT 256MB graphics card in it according to the Dell listing.
I can find mention of Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT 256MB without the word GO in the title all over the net and it doesn't look to bad.
So I'm wondering, is the word GO in the title of my card suggesting that perhaps I have a down scaled version / cheaper version or are they the same thing and same performance?
Fair enough my hdd is only 5200rpm not 7k+ but 4gb ram and 2.4 intel core duo my FPS in WOW can drop to like 5 and thats with lowest gfx settings.
Beaware WOW has developed and a new add-on came out last year with better graphics...
I don't know what to do I love the portability of M1530 but the GFX side of things seems . I know its only a mid ranged gaming/performance laptop but its a shame you cannot upgrade it...

i did the 3dmark06 benchmark at stock clock speeds (i think it's 500/799) with the stock dell driver 175.75. i am running the preinstalled xp pro operation system and most unnecessary background processes are disabled. i have:
8860 3dmarks
with a light overclock (600/900) i have:
9686 3dmarks
i think that's pretty nice. considering the slower cpu (2.4GHz vs. 2.8GHz) and the 175.75 stock dell driver, which is not optimized for gaming, the performance comes pretty close to the 8800GTX in the alienware/ notebooks (~9200 3marks) and it is pretty much the same like the mySN notebook's with the same processor (~8900 3dmarks).
this fact makes me think, that the fx3600 is probably rather a modified 8800gtx card than a gts and that the info shown by gpu-z is wrong. but who knows.
as the card can be overclocked even higher and also there is a way to oc the cpu, the notebook is able to get 10.000+ in 3dmark06.
btw: overclocking is very easy, you can just do it with ntune and there is no need to flash the vbios.
2. what's new
the notebook is very similar to the inspiron 9400/e1705 i had before.
the differences are:
a. different colour (makes it look a lot better)
b. the useless media direct button is used to switch between performance and battery save mode now (useful)
c. the battery is stronger (4 hours battery life vs. 2.5 hours)
d. fingerprint reader available................................
if any one have this card in his lab specially SR ,please give me windows 7 score about this card graphics and gaming

It plays AVCHD Blu-Ray m2ts smoother and performs Vista Aero great even in power saver mode w/ battery..
I have 4GB memory in my notebook, but it assigns 2GB to the gfx card.
Can I lower this? It's really a waste on Vista.
