Mar 3, 2009I just bought this new laptop
HP dv7-1110eg
Have video card Mobility Radeon HD 3450 ...
With the original Windows (Vista Home Premium 32bit) began to black screen... and after several black screens... blue screen ... in the taskbar constantly get the message ... the display driver stopped working and recovered successfully
I gave it a new format ...
I installed Vista Ultimate64bit ...
download all the drives from the HP site ... I installed all the ... and the error persists
Also I installed Ultimate 32bit ...
with the HP drivers ...
same error...........

I have this card in my laptop .... Mobility Radeon HD 3450 ... my system recognizes it as 512 of video ...
But the internet does not find a Mobility Radeon HD 3450 - 512mb... is normal?
That is giving me problems with video, black screens constantly...
It also takes video 1024gb ... so I have 1700gb of video ...
How can I change these values?
I can make it 512? not to touch the RAM

but now I can not find drivers for video ...
I tested with modtool ...
but I said that the driver is not compatible

Feb 20, 2010So at first I was confused but now I understand. First official, completely top to bottom support for all mobility cards (in the specified range of course) will come out with 10.3. What they didn't say that SOME mobility cards will be already supported with 10.2 and our " Dell (Studio XPS 16 Mobility Radeon HD 4670)" is on that list.
This was posted in another thread, but this wasn't the focus. They also have beta 10.3s...but I thought it was neat that official 10.2 WHQL certified drivers supported our card ....

Jul 30, 2009Have you ever noticed that HD 3450 on Studio 1537 works much better than 8600M GT DDR2 on Vostro 1500?
It plays AVCHD Blu-Ray m2ts smoother and performs Vista Aero great even in power saver mode w/ battery..

Mar 5, 2009I have 4GB memory in my notebook, but it assigns 2GB to the gfx card.
Can I lower this? It's really a waste on Vista.

Apr 9, 2009I tried but there is a small gap so I had to stick with the thermal pad. I'm not sure whether AS5 would do a better job of cooling considering the design. I'm just wondering if anyone was successful in eliminating the gap and noticed improved cooling.

Apr 9, 2009I have a new Studio 1537, Core 2 Duo T6400 (2mb cache), 250 GB HD, 3 GB ram, Vista Home premium and a Radeon HD 3450 with 256 MB dedicated graphics.
What sort of games will play on this.
I have a desktop PC that play a few games on, Splinter cell and Tour of duty. These games are quite old so only list XP as the operating system. Will they play on Vista and is the Radeon HD 3450 good enough.
What other shoot em up type games will play on this system.

Mar 19, 2013I bought a dell v3450 last year. Everything works fine for about 1 month. After that an error occured.Whenever I play a random game with High-Performance graphic card (AMD Radeon HD 6630M), after several minutes, it crash and the atikmpag.sys (116) appear. I have to turn off my computer by hold the power button. If i switch to Power-Saving card, nothing happen. But I can run any program with high level graphic detail. Dec 17, 2014I'm trying ubuntu from USB (also tried linux Mint) but I can't boot from the USB, I always get "operating system not found" error.
I tried booting with F12 and choosing USB, tried to change boot order in bios and set USB 1st but nothing works. What else can I do ? The usb is bootable so the problem is with the laptop/bios.

Apr 12, 2009I'm a bit embarassed to bring this post to the forum as looking down the list nobody's posting about these lappies these days!
Basically, my hard drive's full of stuff I don't want to delete (or move to external), my dvd writer needs a paperweight to keep it closed up and the keyboard is like it has glue under the keys!
So, I can't afford to replace it at the moment and I still love the screen and the occasional Doom3 etc (sad I know). I've done some research here - but would appreciate some guidance on which bits to buy.
The drive - I know it's got to be PATA(?) but which drive should I aim for if any? Also, will all the PATA 2.5" drives fit, do I take the bits off the existing one to put on the new? Is there a limitation on the amount of hard drive memory the system will recognise?

Jan 28, 2010My new studio 15 (1555) arrived today and the instructions advised to update the computer with the latest Bios and drivers.
I followed the instructions and all was going well (I could see various things being downloaded) until my son clicked on a window that had popped up (believe it was from McAfee) and the computer switched off.
I went back to the Dell support to ascertain if everything had been downloaded properly and attempted to download the files again unfortunately I kept getting a message that no files have been selected .....

I try to upgrade from A02 to A09 with no results. Every time I try to do it the error was always popin up:
What you suggest to do? I try with different version on BIOS because i thought maybe it's impossible to upgrade from A02 to A09 but I have the same results
I even tried to downgrade to A01 the same I try to update to A02 which I already got. I had no positive results at all
