I have a HP Pavillion DV7-4050ea. Each time i restart the computer, the date time does not update. I have changed the the battery (CR2032) to no effect. Is there anything I can do to ensure the correct date and time updates each time I restart the computer.
My new studio 15 (1555) arrived today and the instructions advised to update the computer with the latest Bios and drivers.
I followed the instructions and all was going well (I could see various things being downloaded) until my son clicked on a window that had popped up (believe it was from McAfee) and the computer switched off.
I went back to the Dell support to ascertain if everything had been downloaded properly and attempted to download the files again unfortunately I kept getting a message that no files have been selected .....
Thing is I don't think that the previous owners updated anything... ever... lol and I was wondering if, for instance bios updates are like Windows service pack updates in that they are cumulative?
I went to the Dell download site and it had 17 driver updates for this service tag. The original bios version for this machine was v.09, I did the update and it's is now v.17 - but the question is, should I have done a bunch in between somehow?
On their website Dell says the v17 bios update just changes the pre-charge timeout from 2 to 6 hours (whatever that means lol) and what I'd like to know is have I missed better - as in more useful - bios features by not doing all the bios updates that must have come between my original v.09 and the current v.17? .....
When updating to Windows 7 the audio drivers look like the right ones for the studio 15 or any with the IDT,
it is not it is generic and you will need the updated driver from the Dell support site, it adds the surround and bass that will be missing and I noticed a big difference.
do I do it in Bootcamp or download them on OSX and then they are installed next time that I load up bootcamp. I ask because last time I did, it stoped all my hotkeys, sound, and backlight keyboard.
I just received my new Acer Aspire 5739g and I want to get the lastest nvidia drivers but nvidia says that i can't that acer wants me to do if from there site and they aren't up to date. I can't even do it manually by downloading the updated driver from nvidia. I downloaded the newer driver and the only thing it let me update from my download was the audio driver. my geforce driver is still the same one 179.52. How do i get it up to 186.xx. i'm lost. also can i get rid of this "mywinlocker" what is that.
I have a base UMP and I went through the basic steps of upgrading video drivers - uninstall, reboot, install new...
However, when I did this process, the install portion would barf. It would say something like "can't find hardware" or "not the right driver"... something along those lines.
Should I just install the latest from NVIDIA without uninstalling first?
Using windows 8.1 i've uptaded my intel hd 4000 drivers, restarted and lauched a 3d game. After few seconds I tried alt+tab and then everything got stalled and eventually with lots of artifacts on screen I've got a message about a system crash and that system now is dumpin information to a file and next it will restart. In that moment I've panicked and hard reseted (so memory dump hadn't finished).
So now when I try to boot - for a quite some time there is a black screen and then a list of boot options pops up:
Normal Startup , bios setup , boot menu .... but the keyboard is not working at all.
So after connecting a usb keyboard I entered boot options and there iv noticed something strange:
Link to image
EC version is messed up.
Keyboard is not working at all and some other things.
On top of that when I'm choosing normal startup the windows "wheel" is turning but its newer getting to boot.
My laptop is an inspiron 1520, about a year old now. Ever since I've had it, the hard disk drive has been making a loud, random click from time to time. Sometimes, it will click twice in the space of two minutes, sometimes it will click only once in two or three days.
Typically it's simply a loud snapping sound, like if you get a pencil and snap it against a wooden desk. It doesn't make any other sounds besides the usual hard drive sounds.
For about a quarter of a second, the system pauses. I think it's related to heat, as it happens most often while playing a graphic-intensive game.
I just got my new x100e laptop today, and i really like it. But, it has a problem.
I am connected to my wireless network at home, and it works properly on my other computers at house. But on the x100e, the connection drops from time to time. Suddenly, the internet is gone, but ten seconds later, the network is back up again.
It's not that big a problem, but it is frustrating to lose the internet from time to time. It happens from every 5 minutes to once 30 minutes.
It really annoys me that my new laptop, (Just a week old) when turned on takes a very long time before it starts. After the HP logo, it will show a blank page where my cursor can be moved, then it will stay a very a long time so I end up shutting it down then turning on again and again until it finally starts up. This really takes a lot of my time specially I use my laptop for work.
I'm a bit embarassed to bring this post to the forum as looking down the list nobody's posting about these lappies these days!
Basically, my hard drive's full of stuff I don't want to delete (or move to external), my dvd writer needs a paperweight to keep it closed up and the keyboard is like it has glue under the keys!
So, I can't afford to replace it at the moment and I still love the screen and the occasional Doom3 etc (sad I know). I've done some research here - but would appreciate some guidance on which bits to buy.
The drive - I know it's got to be PATA(?) but which drive should I aim for if any? Also, will all the PATA 2.5" drives fit, do I take the bits off the existing one to put on the new? Is there a limitation on the amount of hard drive memory the system will recognise?
After I updated the BIOS on M1210 the laptop doesn't start again. The power light start for seconds then goes off, I cannot hear the hard disk movement or any hardware except the power light....
I have a problem with my Dell E1705. I would like to upgrade my BIOS but unfortunately i cant.
I try to upgrade from A02 to A09 with no results. Every time I try to do it the error was always popin up:
What you suggest to do? I try with different version on BIOS because i thought maybe it's impossible to upgrade from A02 to A09 but I have the same results
I even tried to downgrade to A01 the same I try to update to A02 which I already got. I had no positive results at all
i am using dell vostro 3546. After updating bios , usb 3.0 stopped working. Now reverting back changes is not working. it is prompting message that you cannot install the lower version of bios.
fter examining the configuration files included in the latest build of OS X, a new report has discovered references to two new MacBook Pro models.
The 10C531 build of the 10.6.2 update contained the configuration files in question, according to Spanish-language site Applesana.es. The models referenced are the MacBook Pro 6.1 and the MacBook Pro 6.1b. The current crop of MacBook Pros have a 5.(x) designation, spanning 5.1 through 5.5.
The MacBook Pro line was not updated during the latest Apple refresh, when Apple introduced Intel's Core i5 and i7 processors to the newly redesigned iMac line.
The Intel Core i7 mobile processors, formerly code named Clarksfield, reportedly offer better performance with multi-threaded applications and can increase the processor clock speed up to 75 percent to match workloads..............
I am using n5050 model from last 2 years, now i increased memory to 8GB and also changed intel celeron to core i3 processor, now when i plug in AC adaptor my screen goes to blank for just 2 seconds, a technician said you update bios, i downloaded, but it says " same version can't be flashed " .... I am using A05 version of Bios....
I have an Inspiron 1525, running Windows Vista (legal copy). Im trying to update the drivers and keep getting the following error message..
The Dell Driver Analyze Utility currently does not support your operating system. To search for drivers, please enter your Service Tag or choose your product model. Click on “Back to Results Page”.

Found new GPU driver on Sony support site, followed the instructions , wish it was in English not Engrish, the instructions were somehow inconsistent,l proceeded with it anyway, system restarted.
The result is blank, black display and I have no clue how to proceed. I supposed after uninstalling the driver, Windows will restart with default driver then I could install the new Nvidia.
I hoped using the Recovery disc can help restart, but it only repairs defective boot nothing else/ there is 0 error there.
Alright, so to start off I'll just say that I love the DV2. I bought the dual core version loaded when it first went up for customization at the HP site. I have, however, noticed that it can run a tad hot.
When I first got it, without a cooler, the CPUs usually went from between 41c-45c from light usage, and the GPU from between 51c-55c. Even when propping the back up I only saw a drop of 1c total. I bought a small cooler for it and saw a fairly good drop. The temps of the CPU where down to 36c-39c and the gpu was down to 45c-49c with both sometimes even going lower depending on how much the AC in the house was on.
I did try some gaming on this, playing some HL2. The CPU got to 60c at the highest and the GPU also only got to about 60c while on the cooling pad.
So, a few days ago I updated my BIOS to the latest on for the DV2 from the HP site. I noticed right away that my temps where higher. The temps while on my cooler where the same as they used to be without it, and with the cooler off the GPU was getting up to 60c while at idle. I tried a few things, like setting the GPU to low power mode with the Catalyst controls, but that didn't help.
Not sure what to do I noticed this morning that I hadn't gotten SP2 for Vista yet. So I decided to get it in hopes that it would help.. now my DV2 is even hotter. On the cooling pad my CPU was at around 60c and GPU was at 65c while at idle. I've had it on all day, with all the vents in my room open and the AC up high and the lowest it's gotten is to 50c for the CPU and 55 for the GPU.
After turning on my G71 laptop, Windows updates automatically started loading. The screen then went blank. I have tried various start up methods with no luck. both CAPS and NUMBER LOCK lights are illuminated. Have tried to get to BIOS without any luck.
everytime the vaio update wants to update the setting utility series but everytime the installation fails.is there any workaround for installing the latest version.
