Found new GPU driver on Sony support site, followed the instructions , wish it was in English not Engrish, the instructions were somehow inconsistent,l proceeded with it anyway, system restarted.
The result is blank, black display and I have no clue how to proceed. I supposed after uninstalling the driver, Windows will restart with default driver then I could install the new Nvidia.
I hoped using the Recovery disc can help restart, but it only repairs defective boot nothing else/ there is 0 error there.
Ive been having playing my games thought, every time I play my driver crashes. so i try to update my nvidia driver which the laptop came with, now i go to nvidia scan my driver and says i got to download the update from acer. So i look for it and i search for it...downloading the setup...and i extract it...and two files are corrupt...anyways, is that happening for anyone else or the site is down or something.
I have a base UMP and I went through the basic steps of upgrading video drivers - uninstall, reboot, install new...
However, when I did this process, the install portion would barf. It would say something like "can't find hardware" or "not the right driver"... something along those lines.
Should I just install the latest from NVIDIA without uninstalling first?
As you may remember I sent my laptop of to acer for the screen to be repaired, they wiped the harddrive, kept etremely poor contact and kept the laptop away from me for a mo nth. Overall, it was a horrible experience.
Not only that, it was a botch repair job and the laptop died soon after being returned. I had no choie but to return it to them, reluctantly. About 3 weeks go back before i hear anything, then I get an email saying it had bee shipped back to me. A few days later, it still hasn't come. then after a few emaisl to them moe I get a replying saying sorry, but the guy wo said that was mistaken, and it had in fact not been shipped out to me.
Then after another barrage of emails I hear they can't actually repair it, and want to replace it to a new one. And of course, they won't swap the old harddrive in. There was no way I could back everything up this time as it died completely so soon after i got it back. This is unbelievable. I then get an email saying I can buy back my own property from them(ing warranty), which later turns out to be a lie too, I can pay £40 to have 4 DVDs backed up off it. 16 gigs from a 250 gig HD. Oh, joy.
I don't know what to do at this stage. Because they outright lied to me and have jerked me around this much, and the damage was their fault, I think I might have something I can stand on. This is absolute insanity and I can't see how anyone involved is an actual human being.
I want to know what I should do. A guy in my house who worked for apple said i should find a cheap solicitor and get them to send a letter, as big companies don't have time to deal with that kind of thing, and i'd at least get it back quicker.
everytime the vaio update wants to update the setting utility series but everytime the installation fails.is there any workaround for installing the latest version.
I would like to update my graphic card drivers on my VAIO. For the life of me, I just can't find a link to an updated graphic card driver on the Sony website. Yet when I let nVidia scan my subsystem, it states that the following: "The manufacturer of this system requires that you download the driver for your GPU from their support site."
It then goes on to say that they do have some notebook drivers, but I may lose some notebook specific features if I take that path. To be honest, I don't think that there is any feature to lose here, but just in case, does anyone know if Sony has updated any graphic card drivers in the last few years (mine is dated 2007)?
Dell has sent me 3 E6400 computers and all of them fail when using the docking station and then the BUILT IN Verizon card. I have more than 50 hours with technical support.
Finally they put me with their top tier support. You will not believe their answer! I would never belive it if it wasn't in writing so I am going to copy it here for you .....
I recently got a Dell Precision M4300 from a friend and had a few questions.
When i got the laptop, I reformatted the Laptop and Reinstalled Windows XP Pro SP2. I proceeded from Microsoft to Update to SP3 and so on.
Well I also Went to Dell's Website and downloaded all the necessary drivers (using the service tag) for this laptop and installed them.
Now here is where I ran into a problem,
When I installed the NVIDIA drivers for the NVidia Quadro FX 360M video card, everything seemed to go fine. Then I rebooted the Laptop, and now every time I reboot, my hardware acceleration is defaulted back to None, and it gives me multiple pop ups about this issue. I go into the settings and turn the Acceleration back to full and it goes away.
This is a major problem, and is really frustrating to deal with everytime the laptop is booted up.
My other problem, is when I open up Internet Explorer, It tends to lock up the browser for no reason when Loading a website. I then CTRL+ALT+DEL and attempt to close iexplore.exe via the task manager. It closes the browser but does not shut down the browser, making it impossible to browse, so then I have to reboot.
here are the specs of the PC, from the device manager and drivers I have gotten
Dell Precision M4300 NVidia Quadro FX 360M 512mb Video Graphics Card TSST 8x dvd+-R burner 120GB Hard Drive 3.5GB of Ram 2.5GHZ T9300 Core 2 Duo Processor 1394 Port 2 USB ports External Monitor Ports Wifi Support Bluetooth Support Windows XP SP2 Pro
I refreshed my colour settings under 'nVidia control panel' and now my colours look crap. Can someone plz give me your personal prefered percentage numbers of these following slide bars in 'Desktop Colour Settings'.
I have a problem with my FZ21M and need to narrow down the faulty component. Purchased from amazon uk in feb 08 and have had no problems at all with it. Haven't used it in a few months and has been safely stored.
Last week I booted it up and all was fine but in the course of installing many microsoft updates it hung and after powering down would not boot into windows.
I used the recovery software and got it back up and running. Checking the hard disk took forever with many errors. Still, seemed ok but then froze again on windows update .....
I have a VGN-AR51SU with a NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT 256 MB And unable to get a driver for Windows 7 64 bit version.
I have downloaded the driver from NVidia but it does not load they say that I have to get the driver from Sony, Sony do not want to know,
Which I am very disappointent with as I always rated there equipment as the best, this will be my last Sony product as they do not help there customers after sales.
Is almost close to a year now, I have not been able to fix up my drivers and get my SPEED mode to work nor install any Geforce drivers.
I have look around the web alot for solutions and being cautious (not to damage the notebook) I rarely try anything out.
When first bought end of dec'07, it was running well the first few months till the fan made rattling noise as if the whole notebook didn't had a screw in every hole and was going to fall apart.
I send it to SONY service centre couple of times to get it fix and finally the fan issue was gone till I had a BSOD somewhere in mid'08 and all hell break lose from here on
I checked both the Canadian and US website, and they dont offer 330ms anymore, instead its 211m / 310m, and they perform at about half the ability of the 330ms
When I am working in speed more for a while, when I try drag around windows i get this really annoying lag.
The window will kind of sputter as I drag it... but if i do it a few times then the dragging gets smooth again. Its as if the nvidia chip needs to wake up and run fast or something. It feels like garbage
I own a Sony Vaio Laptop, VGN-FZ21M. This laptop comes with a NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GT GPU Graphics card.
Originally, the laptop came with Windows Vista. I had no problems there. Once Windows 7 came out, I upgraded. Problems started there, with Windows not recognizing my video card correctly. It was displayed not as NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GT, but as a Standard VGA Graphic Adapter.
At the time, the problem was more or less easily solved. I downloaded the drivers from NVIDIA, but I wasn't able to do a direct install (an error would occur). So I updated the Graphic card manually, by browsing the disk and chosing the nvmt.inf file that came within the drivers given by NVIDIA on their website, as the file to update my Graphic card with.
This worked out perfectly. My Graphic card was updated and working as great as ever.
However, more recently, I decided to format my laptop, and give it a clean Windows 7 install. I did this because my laptop was giving some graphical weirdies. I thought a format would solve it. It didn't.................
Has anyone tested the battery using NVIDIA vs. Intel? Is there a big difference between the number of hours/minutes you get between the two? I understand gaming will significantly drain the battery but lets just say under usual usage such as browsing, emailing, listening to music, some photoshop etc.
Also, does the battery drain issue still exist in the Z11 where the battery is drained even if the system is fully powered off?
I had assumed, but I want to make sure that my SZ6's problem is due to the Nvidia temp defect thing everyone's talking about.
Basically my computer is always very hot. Just downloaded SpeedFan and the GPU and both Cores are 78C and i've just been surfing the web for a few hours.
The problem happens when I play games (like Civ4 or Half-life 2) for a few hours or sometimes less if its a hot day. The laptop will abruptly power off as if I pulled the battery and power cord out.
When I reboot, I get that error message that says Windows did not shut down properly, do you want to reboot normally or in safe mode
Will the new Z refresh ever get GT430M? The desktop version of Nvidia 4xx has already been released. I think it won't be long for the mobile version to be released.
I am planning to get a new laptop around August or September but I don't mind waiting for a couple of months if I can get GT430M. However, if the GPU will never get an update, I think I'll buy the Z earlier since I don't think there will be much of an update before August. From what I see on the old Z, the GPU never got updated. However this time the GPU on Z is a little behind with no DirectX 11 support.
