Mar 19, 2013I bought a dell v3450 last year. Everything works fine for about 1 month. After that an error occured.Whenever I play a random game with High-Performance graphic card (AMD Radeon HD 6630M), after several minutes, it crash and the atikmpag.sys (116) appear. I have to turn off my computer by hold the power button. If i switch to Power-Saving card, nothing happen. But I can run any program with high level graphic detail. May 27, 2012When I put my Dell XPS 13 Ultrabook to sleep either with the power button, or closing the lid, the light on the front of the until will flash. I haven't timed it exactly, but it flashes for several minutes, but eventually stops flashing. When I wake it up from sleep, it seems about the same whether or not the light was flashing.
Why the light eventually stops flashing and what it means? It isn't because the battery died, and it isn't going into Hibernate because this laptop doesn't have that option.

Dec 17, 2014I'm trying ubuntu from USB (also tried linux Mint) but I can't boot from the USB, I always get "operating system not found" error.
I tried booting with F12 and choosing USB, tried to change boot order in bios and set USB 1st but nothing works. What else can I do ? The usb is bootable so the problem is with the laptop/bios.

Dell Vostro 3450 :: Can't Reinstall Drivers After OS Reinstall
Feb 3, 2013My Dell Vostro 3450 (windows 7) had been running slowly for a while and after a virus scan didn't work, I decided to reinstall my operating system. I used the OS reinstall disk that came with the computer and that seemed to work pretty well. However, when it came time to install the drivers, I hit a roadblock. I put in the drivers disk and tried to go through the list of what drivers to install first (DSS, then chipset, etc...) but each time I installed something, it didn't seem to do anything-- I would go through the whole process for each one, but the little check mark wouldn't appear next to it in the "My System" list.... See below:
My computer can't connect to the internet either by ethernet or wifi, and can only input info through the cd drive.

Jan 22, 2013I have an Vostro 1450, already at the latest available BIOS (A08). I have a problem which might be fixed by re-flashing the BIOS. However the BIOS upgrade utility (V1450A08.EXE) detects that I'm already at the latest version and sensibly refuses to "update". Is there a way I can force the upgrade utility to re-flash the BIOS?

We had to do a full recovery [reformat] after a few days and now after the recovery was done, next time I tried the webcam, the webcam works fine, I can see anything but only the webcam light now does not come on, tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software and then updating the driver from hp's site but the light still does not come on, only the 4 small dot lights to the left stays on but these lights stay on whether the webcam is on or not,

Nov 7, 2009I received my Win 7 DVD, did a fresh install and it detected my webcam. However my webcam no longer works in either skype or MSN.
Skype reports the error 'cannot capture video, camera may already be in use' MSN returns the error 'cannot connect to webcam. Close any programs that may be using your webcam and chose setup audio/video'
The only thing I can see 'blocking' these apps is the Dell Webcam Console. I can't see any way to uninstall just the console, I think it comes bundled with the default windows 7 driver. I can see the path is

I have changed the setting 'automatically launch webcam console when video is played' but still no joy. Tried uninstalling and installing old drivers but no luck either.

Apr 15, 2009I got a good deal on Vostro 1320 base model and just got confirmation from Dell Canada. Now can any one share your opionion whether it is worthwhile to add the integrated 1.3M webcam for $40 and upgrade HD from 160G 5400rpm HD to 250G 7200rpm HD with free fall sensor for $50 (all before tax)?
I might call them to see if they can manually upgrade for me.
I know I can upgrade the HD afterward, and I usually can find a good deal on 320G 7200rpm Hitachi HD for $70 or so if I can wait.
But my question is how difficult and how much hassle is to upgrade HD myself, and does that invalid the warranty, also what does the free fall sensor mean? Worth to have it?

Once in a while, when I plug in the AC Adapter to my laptop, it'll make 2 beeps sound and show an error about battery is unrecognized, the battery light in the front panel will flash between amber and white. May 14, 2009I'm having a few problems with the web cam software in my Dell Vostro 1700 laptop.
When I run the web cam manager it displays video fine, but as soon as I start to record video it crashes, saying livecam.exe has stopped working.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling but it's still no good.
Any ideas? I've not used it for quite some time, so don't know how long it's been like it. Alternatively, are there any other good free apps that let you eaily record video on a web cam?
I also have Skype and MSN Messenger installed, but wouldn't have thougt they'd have done the damage (as it's only when I try to record that it crashes).
