I just bought a studio xps 1647 from best buy and today the usb ports stopped working. They could not see multiple jump drives I inserted.
Is this a win 7 flaw or is something wrong with my laptop? It was in sleep earlier. My theory is that the laptop just didn't wake the ports coming out of sleep mode. I'm contemplating returning the laptop for another.
I have a HP d103tx notebook that I bought some months ago and was working fine until this one day I installed the Intel® USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver from the HP website.After installing that only USB 3.0 port work and not USB 2.0 ports. View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a wireless mouse and printer plugged into the USB ports of my docking station and generally have no issues with them functioning. However, when I take my laptop off the docking station and then return it to the docking station, the laptop no longer recognizes the keyboard and also says that the printer is not connected. Once I restart they both work. I have also tried to unplug the wireless receiver for my keyboard from the docking station and plug into the laptop, but it still does not work without reboot.

The touch sensitive media buttons above the keyboard on my Studio XPS 1647 stopped working the other day. When I tried to turn my laptop back on the computer beeped a few times and the screen flashed a few solid colors and then went black. I had to turn the laptop off and on again and it booted as normal except the media buttons stopped working. They do not light up or respond to touch.
I have restarted the laptop, updated the Dell QuickSet drivers and the BIOS and nothing has fixed it. According to this post the media buttons need to be replaced. How can I do that and where can I buy the parts needed?
After I updated the BIOS to A09 of the Inspirion 7520 my USB keyboard stop working. All drivers is instaled and the windows recognize the keyboard and the num pad is on its happens with 2 keyboards and change the USB port don't works.

I have a problem on my Dell laptop Inspiron N4050, all USB ports suddenly stopped working, I tried to troubleshoot my laptop to fix the problem but it didn't work.

1 USB PORT AT BACK (USB 3) not working
1 USB PORT RIGHT (USB 3) not working
1 USB LEFT (USB 2) works
1 USB LEFT (USB 2.0/ SATA) WORKS
Why not the other. I even updated BIOS.
I bought a Dell N5110 last month but about 2 weeks ago, the USB port to the right side stopped working completely. And just today i noticed the USB port at the back has also stopped working. I now only have the left side port working and fear that may seize to work soon.
When i go to the device manager and click on "Other devices" i have this device in list "Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller" One of which have a yellow error icon of some sort. When i double click either of them this is the message i get:

I own a Envy Dv6 operating Windows 8.1... After one particular shut down, all my USB ports refused to work.
I checked my device manager and it showed that all my USB controllers are working properly, but under other devices three new unknown device showed up with an yellow triangle containing an exclaimation mark showed up. Right clicked and it says that the driver is not installed, but I can't seem to find any that the system is willing to recognise.Without USB ports these days, I find it difficult to function properly.

This is obviously a software (driver) issue, and after researching and finding out that a Windows reisntall is the only solution, I find that hard to believe that this can't be fixed through a patch. These type of problems shouldn't be occurring on brand new laptops.

My usb ports on my HP Pavilion dv7-6b56nr Entertainment Notebook PC are not working. Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. Product # A1T84UA. No matter what I do I can't get them to work. When I go into device manager it is showing a conflict. When I try to update the drivers it says they are up to date. I even tried to do a full system recovery and if it wasn't for an image I saved my computer would have become a paper weight.

When I try and use the USB ports on my laptop, the system does not acknowledge the device is plugged in, nor allows the device to operate. There are no error messages and the safetly remove hardware icon does not appear. This problem began after I ran a couple of Windows Updates before shutting my computer down for the night.
The devices worked properly before but have since stopped. Multiple devices have been tried, but to no avail.
The touchpad on my Inspiron 15z freezes-up a few times a day; the cursor suddenly won't respond and buttons stop working. Restarting the machine usually fixes the problem, until the next time...

I don't remember exactly what I did because it was while ago. I still like to use the laptop, but without USB its uses are quite limited.
When I plug in a device, nothing happens. It is neither powered nor recognized. All USB ports are affected.
The USB ports on my new E Port II docking are not working with my new Latitude E7240 Laptop. Full configuration of the laptop is below. Talked with Dell and they sent me a replacement docking station but the same issue surfaced. Looked at the Device Manager and no extra USB ports show up when connected to the docking station. The side laptop USB works fine when the docking station is connected.

i have a sony VGN-FW463J/B and it turns out that none of my usb ports are working. i tried to like uninstall the usb controller (not sure if i did it right) and it didnt fix the problem at all
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I recieved my Y510p about 8 months ago, the usb ports worked perfectly fine. Around October they stopped working properly. The only solution which I found to work was doing a system restore. When I did this, an Unrecognized Device in the Device Manager was no longer unrecognized, and was instead replaced by USB xHCL (or something along those lines). However, as soon as i restared my computer again, the ports broke, and the unrecognized device reappeared. Repeating the restore followed by a restart breaks the ports every time.
