I have a 11month old HP envy touchsmart m7 sleekbook and all USB ports quit working. I have GEEK-SQUAD tech support and after they uninstalled drivers are unable to restore and was told to have repair done on WARRANTY. Do I need to contact and send in or can be done in store? 1 year coming up in a few days

A couple days ago, Windows (Vista Home Premium 64) updated to SP2 and I lost sound. Now, when I boot my computer, the mute button stays orange and also the IDT control panel does not load. When I try to load it manually, it says the driver is not accessible.
I searched online quick and it sounds like I'm not the only one with this problem--though I haven't seen any fixes.
HP hasn't listed an updated driver for my particular computer yet, and last time I tried to update my audio driver, I ended up with all of these features that for some reason didn't work and made things sound worse and run slow.
It's times like these when I wonder why the heck I put up with all the inconsistencies I've had with Vista
Bought an Acer E 15 ES1-512-c88m first of December. Barely got 12-20 hours of use out of it. Worked fine for 3 weeks and then all of the sudden last night I opened the lid after sitting idle plugged in for 20 hours and immediately the touchpad began acting like I was trying to highlight, drag, or draw boxes around things continuously - when all I was trying to do was move he cursor. At first I assumed it was cold or confused. Shutdowns, restarts, HID driver reinstalls did nothing. After a hour or two of troubleshooting the touchpad performance worsened, to where at this point NO clicks of taps of any kind will work, so I can't pick or select anything - and am forced to navigate menus and options by keyboard - many of which I can't get to.
Final result: all I can do now with the touchpad is move the cursor around, but nothing else. The clicker is mechanically free and never stuck.I'm disappointed because my older Acer 10" D255 from 2011 has never had any issues.Sadly the only impression I'm getting is that the circuitry for the "click" function either shorted or has somehow gone "out of spec" or "out of cal". There is no way to even find out what kind of touchpad it is, because it's not listed on any data sheets.I'm guessing the best thing to do is get it replaced free of charge because it is practically new, but I wondered if there may be any other solutions with less hassle. Who would do this - Acer or NewEgg (where I got it from)?
I have a E1405 that quit working. I replaced the keypad and got a new battery. It won't boot. The only thing that happens is the Numlock, Caps lock and a third led, which escapes me now comes on and stays on for about thirty seconds. I checked to see if the ram was loose, removed and re-installed the cmos battery, even tried my spare HD. I am thinking the system board might be toast.
Within the last couple of weeks, the sound quit working on my laptop. Since purchasing, I have been able to mute the sound and turn it back on with no trouble, but now when I unmute the sound, nothing happens. The sound icon and the Volume Mixer all show that the sound is working and is set at the highest volume, but nothing comes out. Given that this laptop has beatsaudio, it's frustrating.
My wife was on her Studio 1550 the other night. I moved the laptop a little bit so she could show me something. When I moved it, the screen went white and then it quite working. The back of the laptop and the mouse pad got real hot and smelled hot.
It will not power up at all now with the battery or the power cord. It will not do anything when you press the power button. When the power cord is plugged in the laptop continues to get very hot and actually smoked a little bit once.
What happened to the laptop or if it can be fixed? Did the motherboard get fried somehow?
I have an Aspire E1-572 that is five months old, running Win 8.1. I've loved the notebook to this point, but now the speakers have quit working completely (the headphone jack still works). I called tech support and they had me delete and reinstall the driver (Realtech high definition audio), which made no difference.
She then told me the next step is to refresh my Windows installation, which will apparently blow away everything I've installed since it was new. I declined to do that because I really don't want to spend an entire day reinstalling all the programs, even though I have the data backed up. Is this truly the only way to make a final determination if it's a hardware or software problem?
I have a HP pavilion touchsmart sleekbook 14-b133tx laptop running windows 8 and is still in warranty because of a faulty touchscreen. A few days ago my touchpad is not working properly. when i tap the touchpad it does a richt click and when i move my finger in resizes my icons. I look at device manager at it says that the device is working properly.
The touchpad works normally after booting but stops after a few minutes along with the keyboard (i am using the touchscreen as i type this). When i go to the mouse settings there is an error "cannot connect to synaptics pointing device driver" it prompted me to uninstall so i did but the driver won't uninstall. I tried to uninstall it on device manager then rebooted my pc then reinstalled it again but the problem is still present.
Now the touchpad is not working at all and the keyboard stops a few minutes to hours after logging into windows ang fixes itself when i reboot my pc but stops working again after some time. In the device manager there is now an error in the touchpad "This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed. (Code 24)". I already did a hard reset, the sfc/scannow, a system restore, and I already used system recovery to revert back to its factory settings but the touchpad is still not working (still error code 24) and the keyboard still stops responding after a few minutes.
Laptop is only 9 months old. I did all of the updates and then my touchscreen stopped working - that was 4 days ago. Today I did a system restore to the point before the 1st critical update (9/24/14). It still does not work. Did it corrupt my driver? And if so, what is the name of the driver? How can I restore the touch screen...

I own a Envy Dv6 operating Windows 8.1... After one particular shut down, all my USB ports refused to work.
I checked my device manager and it showed that all my USB controllers are working properly, but under other devices three new unknown device showed up with an yellow triangle containing an exclaimation mark showed up. Right clicked and it says that the driver is not installed, but I can't seem to find any that the system is willing to recognise.Without USB ports these days, I find it difficult to function properly.
My usb ports on my HP Pavilion dv7-6b56nr Entertainment Notebook PC are not working. Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. Product # A1T84UA. No matter what I do I can't get them to work. When I go into device manager it is showing a conflict. When I try to update the drivers it says they are up to date. I even tried to do a full system recovery and if it wasn't for an image I saved my computer would have become a paper weight.
I installed Windows 7 64-bit, on my notebook. After that I installed drivers for WIndows 7 64-bit from official HP site, but two USB ports not working, only one works. In device manager i have error on Universal Serial Bus Controler. Where I can find driver?
When I try and use the USB ports on my laptop, the system does not acknowledge the device is plugged in, nor allows the device to operate. There are no error messages and the safetly remove hardware icon does not appear. This problem began after I ran a couple of Windows Updates before shutting my computer down for the night.
The devices worked properly before but have since stopped. Multiple devices have been tried, but to no avail.
I just bought a studio xps 1647 from best buy and today the usb ports stopped working. They could not see multiple jump drives I inserted.
Is this a win 7 flaw or is something wrong with my laptop? It was in sleep earlier. My theory is that the laptop just didn't wake the ports coming out of sleep mode. I'm contemplating returning the laptop for another.
I have purchased a USB 3.0 hard drive, but it only works in my USB 2.0 port.I found what looks to be the solution in a previous thread linked below, however the link to one of the drivers in the thread no longer works.

I have tried using the "Dell Driver Analyze Utility", but when I get to the stage where I need to run the "Dell System Detect" application I get an error.
When I recieved my Y510p about 8 months ago, the usb ports worked perfectly fine. Around October they stopped working properly. The only solution which I found to work was doing a system restore. When I did this, an Unrecognized Device in the Device Manager was no longer unrecognized, and was instead replaced by USB xHCL (or something along those lines). However, as soon as i restared my computer again, the ports broke, and the unrecognized device reappeared. Repeating the restore followed by a restart breaks the ports every time.
i bought pavilion dv6-6165tx 2 years back and ibought a new internal hdd as my old one became corrupt , i installed os win 7 pro (licensed ) and drivers from HP online.
now the problem is that my left side usb ports are not working , and also my finger print reader
I have a problem on my Dell laptop Inspiron N4050, all USB ports suddenly stopped working, I tried to troubleshoot my laptop to fix the problem but it didn't work.
I upgraded the version of my BIOS, the chipset, and downloaded the latest version of the driver but still not working, I even tried to re-format my laptop but the problem is still the same.
I've bought 2 Inspiron N7110 laptops. Both have win7 64bit OS, and 2 usb ports (3.0 ports) are not working. I have all the latest drivers form dell's web page, but I can't get them to work. Is this a driver issue or this laptop series is affected by Chipset circuit design issue? Should I return them, or there is something wrong with drivers, and it can be fixed?
I purchased an Aspire E5-511 about a week ago. At first, I had no problems with the USB ports and what I plugged in would be recognized and work, but now none of them will recognize anything that is plugged into them. This is for multiple devices that work on other computers, so it is not the devices, and obviously it's not the hardware if all 3 simultaneously stopped working. Googling the problem has led nowhere. Additionally, the webcam used to come up automatically in the "Camera" app; this no longer works either and it says "To get started, connect a camera." I have restored the system back to factory defaults, had all files deleted and re-did the entire initial process all over again, to no avail.
