Dell :: XPS-1330 Fan Quit Working
Jul 23, 2009The fan located on the bottom of my xps-1330 quit working. Can I replace the fan alone or is there parts that need replacement?

Dell Inspiron E1405 :: Quit Working - Won't Boot
Feb 28, 2013I have a E1405 that quit working. I replaced the keypad and got a new battery. It won't boot. The only thing that happens is the Numlock, Caps lock and a third led, which escapes me now comes on and stays on for about thirty seconds. I checked to see if the ram was loose, removed and re-installed the cmos battery, even tried my spare HD. I am thinking the system board might be toast.

Dell Studio 1550 :: Won't Power On - Screen Went White And It Quit Working
Jan 2, 2015My wife was on her Studio 1550 the other night. I moved the laptop a little bit so she could show me something. When I moved it, the screen went white and then it quite working. The back of the laptop and the mouse pad got real hot and smelled hot.
It will not power up at all now with the battery or the power cord. It will not do anything when you press the power button. When the power cord is plugged in the laptop continues to get very hot and actually smoked a little bit once.
What happened to the laptop or if it can be fixed? Did the motherboard get fried somehow?

Mar 27, 2010i have a acer aspire 5532 laptop. well, the usb ports(both) quit working. i tried everything from doing my laptop back to factory settings, tried un-checking turn off to save power. everything i could find, i tried. im wondering is there something i can use to get some usb ports? like in the front is a multi-in-1 card reader. is there like some adapter i can plug in there, and it have like usb ports? is there anything i can do or buy? with out taking it back. i have 3 items that use usb that i no longer can use

Sep 20, 2009A couple days ago, Windows (Vista Home Premium 64) updated to SP2 and I lost sound. Now, when I boot my computer, the mute button stays orange and also the IDT control panel does not load. When I try to load it manually, it says the driver is not accessible.
I searched online quick and it sounds like I'm not the only one with this problem--though I haven't seen any fixes.
HP hasn't listed an updated driver for my particular computer yet, and last time I tried to update my audio driver, I ended up with all of these features that for some reason didn't work and made things sound worse and run slow.
It's times like these when I wonder why the heck I put up with all the inconsistencies I've had with Vista
System restore is a very last resort for me.
Acer Aspire ES-512 :: Touchpad And Clicker Quit Working
Feb 5, 2015Bought an Acer E 15 ES1-512-c88m first of December. Barely got 12-20 hours of use out of it. Worked fine for 3 weeks and then all of the sudden last night I opened the lid after sitting idle plugged in for 20 hours and immediately the touchpad began acting like I was trying to highlight, drag, or draw boxes around things continuously - when all I was trying to do was move he cursor. At first I assumed it was cold or confused. Shutdowns, restarts, HID driver reinstalls did nothing. After a hour or two of troubleshooting the touchpad performance worsened, to where at this point NO clicks of taps of any kind will work, so I can't pick or select anything - and am forced to navigate menus and options by keyboard - many of which I can't get to.
Final result: all I can do now with the touchpad is move the cursor around, but nothing else. The clicker is mechanically free and never stuck.I'm disappointed because my older Acer 10" D255 from 2011 has never had any issues.Sadly the only impression I'm getting is that the circuitry for the "click" function either shorted or has somehow gone "out of spec" or "out of cal". There is no way to even find out what kind of touchpad it is, because it's not listed on any data sheets.I'm guessing the best thing to do is get it replaced free of charge because it is practically new, but I wondered if there may be any other solutions with less hassle. Who would do this - Acer or NewEgg (where I got it from)?
HP Envy Dv7 Audio :: Sound Quit Working On Laptop
May 31, 2013Within the last couple of weeks, the sound quit working on my laptop. Since purchasing, I have been able to mute the sound and turn it back on with no trouble, but now when I unmute the sound, nothing happens. The sound icon and the Volume Mixer all show that the sound is working and is set at the highest volume, but nothing comes out. Given that this laptop has beatsaudio, it's frustrating.

Dec 29, 2014I have an Aspire E1-572 that is five months old, running Win 8.1. I've loved the notebook to this point, but now the speakers have quit working completely (the headphone jack still works). I called tech support and they had me delete and reinstall the driver (Realtech high definition audio), which made no difference.
She then told me the next step is to refresh my Windows installation, which will apparently blow away everything I've installed since it was new. I declined to do that because I really don't want to spend an entire day reinstalling all the programs, even though I have the data backed up. Is this truly the only way to make a final determination if it's a hardware or software problem?

Apr 18, 2009I was hooking my laptop up to a receive via HDMI yesterday evening to watch movies on a larger screen. all worked fine.
Now I cant get my laptop speakers working. When i check Control panel / sound I can see HDMI as a playback device but nothing for my speakers...

Nov 10, 2008I've installed a Dell 5530 WWAN card in my XPS 1330, installed the Drivers in R198215.EXE and installed the mini 9 version of control point R198215.EXE
placed my t-mobile sim in the sim holder behind the battery, and surprise surprise complete success, it connects to 3G no problems!
But - when i go to enable the GPS chip - i get a weird error -
It says " if LTO: LTO data is missing, Connect to internet to download LTO data"

HP Pavilion Dv6 1330-er Audio :: Both Microphone Input And WEBCAM Mic Are Not Working
Sep 4, 2014I'm using HP Pavillion dv6 1330-er. The problem is - both my mic and webcam mic were working fine untill yesterday's morning. The evening before i was talking with my friend on skype and then gone to sleep. When i woke up - both mic input and webcam mic weren't working. I am using Windows 7 Ultimate x64 ... Nothing like this happened before.
Webcam video itself working fine. Headphones working fine.Tried to reinstall driver - didnt work. Laptop was resting on the table, just like i left it in the evening. Have 2 different windows installed on my laptop (the another one is windows XP, not a single program installed, just drivers) - mics aren't working.
The same mic on different PC working fine.The system detects both headphones mic and webcam mic and the system shows when i'm taking headphones' mic in and out.

Apr 29, 2010The left click on my 3690 has quit working,and when I use the touch pad to control the cursor,it drags a blue box around.I tried uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling but I get the same problem.I also tried to update the drivers with no luck.I think it's a hardware problem.Any other suggestions?I wouldn't worry about it,but I use it to run my GPS,and I can't use a mouse in my vehicle.

Mar 18, 2010LCD display shut down but the computer still is on. In the first was rare but sometimes it get annoying.
Is like 1 day it happend 3-4 times and the other day only happend 1 time. I use a lot the PC so it is on more than 8 hours a day.
I think that is overheated GPU but happend in normal temp also not vertical lines, etc ....

Now my sister want also a Dell laptop, and she wants XPS 1330.
I'm sure about reliability of Latitude series, since D600 and D630.
XPS 1330 has very cool design, price is OK too, but I'm very concern about GPU issue. After reading a lot of topic about replacing mainboard and especially heating problems with NVIDIA GPU GS?8400 should I still consider buying now XPS 1330?
I'm not going to buy with NVIDIA video card but Intel Integrated X3100 because sister doesn't play any game
Is there any serious issue with XPS 1330 and Intel X3100 on board?, heating, crashing etc..? I want to buy her a stable laptop like mine - D630.

Sep 19, 2008after excessively researching every possible laptop that could fit into my budget and for my needs I finally went with the Dell XPS 1330. Upon receiving my order (after patiently waiting for weeks it seemed)-- I opened the box and realized there was no case or complimentary headphones. Only after researching a bit on the forums did I realize they were no longer included. After setting up the laptop and running some games--- and after almost 2 weeks of ownership I must say I am impressed.
pros-
-Laptop has a beautiful bright display
-can play most games i throw at it (for some strange reason Company of Heroes slows down considerably)
-slot loading drive
-relatively quiet (more on this on the cons)
-touch screen controls
-pretty quick start up
-extremely light weight---and aesthetically pleasing---looks like a beauty
-surprising decent battery life---get over 3 hrs with each charge--and can be configured for more with dimmer screen.
cons-
-makes some strange noises when just doing ordinary tasks---it almost sounds like a ticking clock.
-keyboard is also loose and makes some bad noises when clicking on certain keys. Overall the keyboard is simply sufficient---but doesnt really meet up with the price paid.
overall-
I would say for the money 1215$ with 2 yr warranty is fairly unbeatable. An apple macbook was a consideration for a while---but Dells cant be beaten for the price-
overall I would say as a 1st time dell xps laptop buyer I am fairly happy. Only reason that i would consider returning it is for the crappy keyboard--and clicking noises. But i also feel lucky that my xps didnt ship with any worse problems.

Feb 1, 2009i want to leave my xps laptop connected to my tv (through the hdmi connection) for long periods of time, and i want to be able to leave the laptop screen off and closed while i do this.. also just for extra information the laptop came with vista installed however i installed XP pro instead.
anyway, when i initially got my laptop i could press the function key and tv-out key and it would output to the tv with the laptop screen still on, pressing it again would still output to the tv and turn the laptop screen off, and a third time would turn off tv-output and have just the laptop screen. i.e. pressing fn and F8
1 time - tv output with laptop screen on
2 times - tv output with laptop screen off
3 times - bring it back to normal with laptop screen on and tv out off.
my problem is that when i press it two times my laptop screen goes off, however no tv signal is sent to the tv anymore..
i tried updating my geforce 8400GS drivers and installing and re-installing the video device but it didnt change anything.

The LED is a toshiba LCD2306, the CCFL an AUO Optronics, the CCFL looks MUCH better which seems to me total nonsense since the LED is supposed to be better in all aspects.
I will be contacting customer service. Should i be asking specifically for the samsung LED?

Dec 5, 2008As the subject states, my fan will not turn off. Everything was running great, then about a week ago, after installing MS updates, my fan will not turn off no matter what I'm doing.
I'm sure it was an update but am not sure how to go about fixing. I know I can just start uninstalling updates till the fan turns off but if there is a better way that would be great.

Jun 10, 2009My xps 1330's battery just went completely dead (past the one year warranty period obviously) and considering how stupidly expensive the dell replacements are,
I was wondering if anyone had any experience with non-official replacements. Some places seem to sell a generic version of that battery for about half the price.
So the question I'm asking myself now is: 'what's the catch?'

May 11, 2009I've owned the XPS 1330 for a little more than a year, and because of a drop recently I have had to change the hard drive and reinstall vista. I believe I didn't properly install vista on to the computer and now it doesn't restart normally as it should, sometimes it will show a blue screen or it will restart continuously.
I called tech and because I didn't purchase extended warranty I'm restricted to certain telephone lines, and they would require that I pay up a sum to have them go through and check the problem.
