Every time I change the volume on my notebook via keyboard shortcuts, a volume... "window" pops up and indicates how much i decrease or increase it. Problem is, that while I'm gaming or watching a movie, that indicator is always on top of any application i have opened, so it makes some games stutter, and if i accidentally click it, my game minimizes on the bar. Is there anyway to disable this feature on vista?
On hp pavilion dv7-1232nr  the sound volume signal that appears on the screen any time the volume is adjusted  is not functioning as before ! is there any point or option that is being clicked on or off to disable this signal !
i bought my laptop back in october 2006 and it's been running strong ever since but over the years i've accumulated quite a big music and video collection and well it's 100gb harddrive just isn't cutting it, does anyone know what's the specs on the current harddrive in it? because i want to swap it out for a much higher capacity one i know that i can purchase an external harddrive but i just want to carry my collection everywhere with me
I have got a thinkpad x61 with win 7 pro x64. A few days ago I installed hotkeys drivers from Lenovo. On Screen Display problem: when I press volume up/down Button the volume decreases completely. To make louder or dim the volume I have to hold the buttons. All the other hotkeys functions work . why? what I have to do?
When changing the advance boot options in msconfig, I think I have found a bug. with the option of maximum memory selected, after the restart the computer will only read 3GB (when it should be 4GB). Also when going back in the advance menu of the boot tab, the maximum memory value is 0. (I also have no GUI boot selected, if that changes anything)
I bought a dv9000 about two years ago and recently the motherboard died. Since I'm not exactly rich at the moment I haven't bought a new laptop, but instead my father gave me his dv6286 because choose to upgrade.
But the geforce 7200 in the dv6268 isn’t any good for gaming, so I though if it was possible to take my geforce 7600 from the dv9000 and put it in the dv6286.
when I touch Volume, Bass, Treble during in-game sequence (For example: GTA IV, Saints Row 2), the game minimizes to the desktop and the audio(dialogue) keeps on playing. So when I go back to the game, it takes a second to catch up with the framerate but it doesn't freeze. Yay! But my initial question is that is there a way around this? So when I touch the volume in-game sequence it doesn't minimize to the desktop?
I used to adjust the volume in-game and it worked. So I don't know what's going on!
Anyways I have the IDT Control Panel installed with all the drivers up to date but with the volume turned all the way up I can barely hear anything from the laptop speakers, if I plug in headphones they work fine but the speakers barely put out sound.
Model: HP DV6Z CTO OS: Windows 7 Pro 64 bit (updated drivers from hp's site).
I tried the suggestion regarding installing realtek driver's but my laptop bsod'd and I haven't tried anything since (couldn't think of anything).
The green volume bar barely goes up when I do stuff such as watch video's online (doesen't even reach 1/4th of the way up) while the volume is turned all the way up.
I have a Dv7 not a dv7t so I did not know to make my own thread or post in the other thread.
ANYWAYS - My girlfriends dad got a computer very similar to mine and it looks identical besides the color. I know it is not the exact same because the index score is lower.
When he changes the volume on the touch part from the computer it shows a meter in the center of the that moves while he slides his finger across the volume.
A. shut the heck up (no more clicking when adjusting the volume) and
B. I've heard you can get rid of the on screen visual adjustment of it, how would one do that?
I've also heard from two people that you can set areas of the touch pad to do things like right and left click (as a silent alternative to the buttons).
when I pop in a Blu-ray movie, I'm getting pretty anemic sound and I need to turn the volume all the way up to get it to a decent level. Even then, it's pretty weak.
However, when I'm playing a game (like WoW), the sound is big and full and I actually need to turn it down most of the time.
Why is the sound output so bad when watching BR discs? Anyone else experience this difference in volume and quality of sound? My DV7 was the same way with BR discs. Maybe there is a setting I'm missing to adjust this?
Why does the volume bar have to take main focus everytime I use it causing it to take me out of full screen games?
Speaking of the volume bar, turning off the touchpad makes it impossible to use any programs until the stupid picture telling you it's turned off goes away.
I have eyes and ears for a reason! I can hear the volume going up and down, and the light on the touchpad is enough to tell me it's off!
Is there anyway to keep the hotkeys but turn off the visual reminders? =.=;;
i have a problem i brought a laptop with windows 7 on it and it had some type of software to show it show volume levels on the screen (OSD) i reinstalled windows because i wanted the x64 verison of windows so i could use all 4gb of my ram, i looked around the only software i found was QuickTouch and there is the version out for windows 7, does any one know what the softwares call preinstalled on the dv6 ?
i just received this brand new and when i press the volume up and down quicklaunch buttons .. the volume does go up and down but there is no onscreen notification of this ... if i scroll mouse over to the bell on the taskbar i do see that the volume numbers did increase or decrese...so i know the buttons are working ... even when i press the mute button.. i see the icon show that it is muted...
should this tablet have an onscreen popup notifcation when u raise and lower the volume...?
i contacted HP and they told me to do a system restore... after i tried to update my quicklaunch application and it still had no effect...
i want to make sure something is wrong with my tablet before i perform this system recovery...
I think I accidentally turned off the volume bar on my laptop and I'm not sure how to turn it back on. sound does work I have to manually adjust it using the volume icon and all the lights are on. I can't even turn on/off my wireless button.
every time I change the volume it goes into the separate volume popup window and whatever else I'm doing gets minimized if it was fullscreened, it's really annoying. How do I turn this off? I've been told by a HP custom service guy to uninstall Quick Touch, but I can't even find it anywhere.
(are there any other things I can do to optimize this computer?)
I just bought a dv5t yesterday. A question regarding the dual headphones jack...
I have one jack connected to my headphones, and the other connected to my speaker system. I would like to control their volume independently (from the notebook itself).
i have a dv4t that used to come with windows vista. back when it had vista, i heard that the on screen display from hp won't work with 64bit operation system. now i have upgraded to windows 7 64 bit. has anyone gotten on screen display for volume control working for windows 7 64 bit? i couldn't find the driver for the dv4t on the hp website
I Have a HP DV6T QUAD and reinstalled Windows 7. When I touch the volume on my keyboard to increase or decrease the volume, it would appear on the screen for 1 second. Now after reinstalling, it doesn't show on the screen anymore when I touch the volume increase decrease on my laptop.
On my HDX18, when I press the slider bar to adjust my volume, Microsoft Excel comes up. Same if I touch the speaker off button as well. The more I press the more Excel pages I open up.
Is there some way around this? I ended one of the process one time, I VolCtrl.exe * 32, and it made the onscreen display go away, but then I could no longer adjust the brightness (probably because the onscreen display is identical for both except for a light icon insteam of a volume icon)
With that process not running volume control still worked fine, but screen brightness changing went away, a price I can't afford to pay for that.
if anyone has had the same problem as me with the HP HDX 16. Randomly, even as I am typing here, the volume bar (with treble, bass etc) will appear on screen and will increase/reduce very quickly as if im pushing down on the touch buttons, this stops me being able to type, sometimes crashing the computer.
At the same time, this fault also occurs for the wireless LAN button to the far right, which will randomly disable (turn red) as if i'd touched it, sometimes causing the desktop to crash but more importantly causing me to lose connection and have to reconnect on a frequent basis.
I've had the notebook for over 6 months, and while i did have this occur on very rare occasions, since a couple days ago it has increased to a point where it happens all the time, including after a restart. I have tried searching through google to see if the problem is known, and i have seen a similar account on a customer review website. I have used HP health check and followed the updates supplied including that for the touch smart buttons and a BIOS flash.
I'm thinking of upgrading a CPU in my FW . Currently i have P8700 and i'am looking to buy a P9700, T9800,T9900 or even X9100.
One thing just consernes me . Will the bios recognize (notebook work ) with these processors ? P9700, T9800,T9900 i supposse would have to work fine , but i am not sure for the x9100 .
Some opinions ? Also does anyone have these processors (or p9x00, t9x00 ) and say something about their temperatures
