i have a dv4t that used to come with windows vista. back when it had vista, i heard that the on screen display from hp won't work with 64bit operation system. now i have upgraded to windows 7 64 bit. has anyone gotten on screen display for volume control working for windows 7 64 bit? i couldn't find the driver for the dv4t on the hp website

The volume control bar disappeared from the screen. The speaker icon is present on the taskbar. The volume control touch key are operational. But no bar is visible. The notebook is a HP 6910P running on XP pro, clean from viruses and malware.

Speaking of the volume bar, turning off the touchpad makes it impossible to use any programs until the stupid picture telling you it's turned off goes away.

How do I turn this off? I've been told by a HP custom service guy to uninstall Quick Touch, but I can't even find it anywhere.

I have one jack connected to my headphones, and the other connected to my speaker system. I would like to control their volume independently (from the notebook itself).
I Have a HP DV6T QUAD and reinstalled Windows 7. When I touch the volume on my keyboard to increase or decrease the volume, it would appear on the screen for 1 second. Now after reinstalling, it doesn't show on the screen anymore when I touch the volume increase decrease on my laptop.

I ended one of the process one time, I VolCtrl.exe * 32, and it made the onscreen display go away, but then I could no longer adjust the brightness (probably because the onscreen display is identical for both except for a light icon insteam of a volume icon)
With that process not running volume control still worked fine, but screen brightness changing went away, a price I can't afford to pay for that.
I updated the BIOS to 2.26 a while ago and ever since then there's no on-screen indication of caps lock on/off, screen brightness or volume when I change it. Since it seemed to be affected by BIOS, I updated again to 2.27 just now, but the problem persists. I needed to update the Hotkeys Feature Integration by downloading the utility thingy from this page. Probably wasn't a BIOS thing after all.

Not the Volumn icon in the task bar, I lost the display that shows the volumn going up or down on the screen. The video support suggested installing Power Management but this did not work. View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a Pavilion dv6-6173cl laptop. It's been working fine until recently, when I left it on overnight to finish downloading a huge file. When I tried to adjust the brightness the next morning, I couldn't (though it was still at full brightness like I always keep it). So I thought, "why not reboot it?" I rebooted and now the display is the dimmest it can get with no way of adjusting the brightness using the brightness keys, control panel, or otherwise.
This has happened before. When it did, I did a factory reset on it and it fixed the problem. However, although there is no absolutely critical data on there and I can always make a backup, I prefer to not have to go through all that if it's avoidable. I have an external display that HP asked me to connect it to to see if it was a hardware or software issue. The external display was at full brightness, so when they asked me to ship it in I did a factory reset and that solved the problem. And now it's back.
Is my volume control working correctly? The touch thing at the left. It changes the volume in blocks of 2, but even 2 blocks is quite loud and very difficult to set it at 2 blocks in the first place. Normally it goes to 4 blocks then 0 volume and takes time to set it at 2. Having to set the volume using the bottom right icon atm.
Is there anyway to get it more accurate and have a better range of volumes in the lower levels?. I did uninstall a lot of the junk programs that came with it but not launch manager

My computer gets all current HP/Microsoft updates automatically.My volume control moves up and down automatically. I can choose mute and it will not stay muted. I have turned off my built-in microphone. I had to unistall my HP SmartMenu controls because the buttons wouldn't respond and the on-screen volume display would activate every time the windows volume control would move causing me not to be able to play any games. I have ran MSE and MalwareBytes and have not found any viruses or ad/spyware that is causing the trouble. I don't' know what to do..I really don't want to have to go through the process of windows re-install or game re-installing.
Is there a way to get rid of the beeping sounds that are made when you press a special button or use the volume control. Perhaps locating the wav file if there is one

When i use the media keys there is no display on the screen of what i am doing. View 8 Replies View RelatedOk after 3 days of using the 1340 I just realized the button on the top panel that you can use to increase/decrease volume stopped working. I had updated the latest drivers from Dell site but not sure if that is the reason.
Also non of the other buttons that are for DVD work either. And I know they were working when I got the laptop and only thing I have done is update with latest drivers.

Problem: I have just installed Windows 7 professional, after installing all drivers (bios, video, audio, touchpad etc - all standard drivers) there are no bar appearing when i press F9-F10 (volume bar) and F2-F3 (broghtness bar) - there were bars before for sure (volume bar with Beats icon and bar itself). Functionally it works, but no visual appearing.
Also, if you are watching a video on YouTube and pressing volume up and down on keypad (F9-F10)- the volume is changing, but the indication under video itself is freezing.
I have tried many times to reinstall audio driver but it doesnt solve the problem.
