Dell :: Wierd Lan- Displaying Cable Not Connected
Jun 11, 2009I own a Studio 1555 and i am having this peculiar problem with my onboard LAN connection. The LAN cable is connected to the NIC, yet it is displaying cable not connected. I need to reconnect the cable (remove it from the NIC and reconnect it) and it displays cable is connected and the connection ensues. Once i restart the machine, the same is displayed and i will have to reconnect the cable once again in order to get connected.
I do not want to reconnect the cable every now and then, when i reboot the laptop..

Mar 10, 2015I have an Aspire v5-571P Touch, running Windows 8.1, and for two years it's been awesome! But recently, it's stopped displaying low battery alerts. I've tried going to the Control Panel, Power Options, and using a different power plan. I've made sure that all of the power plans' advanced power settings are as follows (after a suggestion of upping the low battery level from 10% to 20%):

I've read an article that suggested updating the BIOS, though there's also a red warning on that page of the Acer website; "Upgrading your system BIOS incorrectly could harm your Acer Product. Please proceed with caution." So I was apprehensive. Any way before I attempt updating the BIOS.

Jul 6, 2009I recently bought a refurbished Studio XPS 16 with the 1080P RGB screen and was very disappointed. It did not seem very bright and was unable to accurately reproduce the color 'white'.
Everything that was supposed to be white (windows explorer background, wordpad, etc) seemed blue-grayish. I ended up returning the laptop but was just wondering if this is a common issue or if I had a dud.
I would love to order another Studio XPS 16, but only want to do so if this is not a problem with all the 1080P RGB displays.

Sep 8, 2014I purchased an external monitor recently so I can extend my Lenovo U410 IdeaPad's display. The monitor connects to my laptop via an HDMI cable. The problem is, nothing from my laptop is displayed on the external monitor.

The external monitor is still left with a black screeen with either the HDMI and Analog symbol flickering back and forth on the top left corner, or a box that shows "Check Signal Cable" with red, green, and blue boxes below.Â

On Control Panel>Appearance and Personalization>Display>Screen Resolution, I can see that the external monitor is detected: I have the external monitor as Display 2, and I have "Multiple displays:" set at "Extend these displays"I know that the monitor is not broken, because it works as an external monitor for my MAC (via HDMI cable as well)Â ....

Nov 2, 2014I purchased Aspire E5-571 series laptop from a store in Chemnitz, Germany on 29th of Oct 2014. From the date of purchase, I find that when ever I right click on Desktop, it is taking 15-20 seconds of time to display various options. When I searched on internet, I found that some process which are incorporated by INTEL are the main reasons for this cause. But I am worried that whether my graphics card works properly or not with out these process. The following are process that I disabled.
After disabling these process, my problem was recitified on my own. But I wanted to know whether there is any solution other than this. I tried reinstalling graphics, Touch Pad drivers.

Nov 2, 2011I recently purchased a Dell Inspiron 15R N5110 which consists of a nVidia GT525M graphics card (as per the configuration).But when I check the system specs under system rating -> details; it is showing only Intel HD graphics with a dedicated graphics memory of 64MB and complete shared graphics memory of 1696MB. My card of 1GB is not getting displayed.
But, in device manager, I can see my nVidia card.how do I enable my graphics card? Is there any problem only with my system? How can I see the nVidia card in the system specs?

Jan 19, 2015I have an Hp Pavilion Enternainment PC (HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC), 64bit, Windows 7, Service Pack 1.  The pc is integrated with a  HP xb4 Notebook Media Docking Station and a HP 2509m flat screen monitor.  Unless I have turned the volume completely off, I continually get a volume icon (showing the current volume setting) intermittently displaying in the center of the flat screen monitor.  I am unable to move it to any other location on the flat screen display or to the pc monitor.

The solution with removing "lockkey.exe" is not working as well. I just don't have program like this.

I know there are some OC guides out there, but this laptop is almost 3 years old, and as far as I can tell does not have an option in the BIOS. Jun 30, 2009Ive just about had it with Vista on my laptop and want to try a new OS before I junk this thing. Is anyone running Win7 or Ubuntu on a HP DV5z AMD 64 bit laptop? The machine is about a year old and I have 4gb of RAM and the thing is a dog. Ive used Ubuntu in the past on Dell laptops and its a pain to get everything running wireless drivers, flash, etc. Win7 being a RC may or may not have everything up to speed on for my machine.
So, if you have Win7 or Ubuntu on a HP DV5z please give me a shout, good or bad.

Jul 14, 2009I'm am deciding whether to buy this laptop for school use. It has a great size, stylish, and decent specs for a laptop that is so lightweight. The only turn off is that it was made for entertainment, but should this laptop do well for word processing, spreadsheets, and web surfing?
Would the 9 cell battery last for more than 5-6 hours? My budget is also under 700$ but it can stretch a little.
