HP/Compaq :: Drop My Hp 6803s Not Much Damage Done But It Says Bootmgr Is Missing
Dec 7, 2009
i drop my hp 6803s not much damage done but it says bootmgr is missing i have done some start up test when i do hard disk test smart check-passed short dst-failed ,when i try and boot from the disk it dosnt work or maybe iam not waiting long enough for it took work i waited over an with like dark drak blue screen then the mouse comes up then i wait more and still nothing.
what of an extensive issue on a dv2710us on Vista.
One of the crippling elements of this whole situation is this computers CD drive is not working. Windows was not recognizing a CD/DVD drive present, which is what I was trying to fix. So I accessed the recovery manager by pressing F11 on bootup to have Windows install all of the original files, but not format the C drive. Well it began formatting the C drive, and a progress bar showed up so I powered down the PC before it got past 0%. When I powered it back up, I get a "Bootmgr is missing" message and am unable to get past that.
After doing some research online, I accessed the recovery manager and opened Command, and did a Bootrec /fixboot, the operation completed and upon restarting, it booted straight to the recovery manager. I was no longer able to boot to the C drive. I did a little more research and opened up Command again, and used DISKPART to make the C drive active.
This time after rebooting the cmoputer, I am once again given the Bootmgr is missing message. Not only that, I am unable to press f11 to get to recovery manager anymore.
At this point, I mainly need to access the harddrive so I can backup some improtant files, and then do a full reformat of the C drive. I have a disc of Ubuntu I had the idea of loading up to access the C drive, however since the DVD drive is not recognizing discs I am unable to use it. I also downloaded a Vista recovery disc from here and placed it a USB stick drive. Upon booting up I can press f9 to select multi boot options. When the drive is inserted the options are Laptop harddrive, and USB diskette. The USB diskette option is not present when I have the stick drive removed. I select to boot from USB diskette and the computer proceeds with a black screen as if it may boot, but then returns to the initial boot up screen (where you can use F keys to access BIOS, etc.) and then got to Bootmgr is missing.
My laptop had been acting funny in the last few weeks. In some cases it would give a quick blue screen then restart. In order to fix that, I attempted to do a system restore with the Dell Factory Image. However, I received the "Bootmgr is missing" upon the system rebooting. Are there any solutions out there that do not require a Windows 7 re-installation disk, I do not have one. If the solution does require a DVD, where can I order one. My laptop is only two years old, so I do not believe that the hard drive is dying.
I am having issue of system recovery which always show error message:Bootmgr is missing.Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart. The laptop I purchased was without recovery disc.I am having Pavilion dv3-4106tx, come with pre-installed Window 7 Home Premium(I do not whether it's a 32 or 64 bit?).I had used recovery manager to do system recovery and ended with above error message. At the same time I did startup and run test, the result:failed with Failure ID:RTQEKA-5A87AU-XD6U3F-60ST03.
Acer aspire 5742. Installed new hdd. I bought recovery disk. Inserted recovery disk selected top option, inserted dsk1 when asked then dsk 2 when asked. dsk did not run error bootmgr missing ctrt/alt del to restart. Does nothing same error comes up. removed dsk tried again same thing. removed dsk shut down inserted recovery dsk to try to start over. same error.
I have an HP Pavilion dv6000 and run Windows Visa Home Edition.I wanted to restore my laptop to its factory settings but the Recovery Manager wouldn't work. When I clicked on it it would just restart the computer without anything else happening. I then right clicked on the computer >manage> disk manager and made the recovery partition active. When I rebooted the computer it began showing:Bootmgr is missingPress Ctrl+Alt+DeleteWhich of course leads back to the same message after te computer reboots. I can't access F8 key. Only F10 (Bios) works. I don't have a recovery or installation CD as it didn't come with the laptop when I purchased it.Is there anyway I can change the active partition back to the C drive, this disabling the recovery partition? I read that it was possible to access disk manager from cmd prompt window, but I don't know how to access it since the F8 key won't work (makes just a bipping noise when pressed)?I am also out of the country so can't mail my laptop to HP to have it fixed.
I have an issue on my 8 month old HP HDX18 laptop....my 3 yr old son was watching a video and accidently spilled 1/4 glass of water on the laptop.
The lappie shut off and wouldn't turn back on. I quickly disconnected it from the wall and removed the battery. Then I opened up the case up, took apart the mem, HDD and left it outside in my backyard today to dry up and then put everything together and booted up. Laptop boots up usual now BUT the wireless/volume are disabled. Some of the arrow keys are also not functioning normal either. While its obvious its not a total h/w failure, I have some doubts on the mobo/keyboard.
I do have the HP warranty but I'm pretty sure it doesn't cover water damage.
Hp will allow you to purchase accidental damage coverage for up to one year after purchase.
Does anyone know if there is a grace period? ie... amount of time from when you buy the extra coverage to first time you can utilize it? anyone have any feedback as to whether it has any eclusions or fine print that an average consumer should be aware of ?
I recently used my recovery disks to go from XP back to Vista after a very dismal Xp performance. My download speed is now around 40 kb/s from HP.com (for drivers), firefox set up download 45 kb/s? Also i've noticed that video's online buffer at an alarmingly slow rate. I have Cox high speed internet and it used to be around 400-600kb/s and pretty quick buffering. What the heck happened? And why did my graphics score drop .2 points?
I'm planning to purchase this warranty plan but I'm wondering if it is global. I live in Canada so I'm wondering if I bought this in the US, would it work in Canada as well. In other words, would I be able to use warranty in Canada even if I purchased it in the US (my laptop is from the US as well)?
I have a Refurbished Dell 1440 Inspiron, Windows 07. I got this notebook 3.5years back and I was using this laptop without any problem till now. But suddenly it appears like Bootmgr Corrupt , Cannot boot the laptop. I searched many forums and websites to find a solution for my Issue. I got to know that i have to use recovery cd to recover the boot files but i lost my CD long back, i tried to download from URL... but i couldn't find it.... Any better way to get my 1440 back to the working state.
I just sold my m1530 on ebay cause i found this really nice deal for an SXPS13 on ebay which turned out to be a scam , now im low on cash so i was wondering when will there be price drops on the SXPS13 or 16..
And would anyone happen to know when dell is going to release new XPS models...
Most of them are solvable, but they require some effort.
A bit disappointing since I wish dell had come out with their top precision line which worked flawlessly "out of the box". Precision laptops have some great hardware and I would like to see dell kicking MBPs butt.
So, did drop the ball on the precision line ? Should it demand more from the device driver development team ?
Some days ago my wife dropped my Sony Z21 from about 1 meter. Everything seems to work fine except Wlan, Bluetooth and HSDPA. I don't think that any of those modules are broken or something as everything else survived the drop. Does anyone know if all 3 wireless options are connected through some kind oa board? If so then I assume the connection is loose and that causes the wireless to drop. At the beginning it turned on and off the wireless ramdomly...
I'm getting a Studio 1555 with the t4200 Penryn Pentium Dual Core CPU. Would a P8600 Core 2 Duo work if I put it in the socket? It seems to be exactly the same core, just faster FSB and multiplier. My guess is Dell use the same motherboard for all 1555 laptops.
I have Dell 7720 17r SE for almost a year now,I remember it as a fine gaming rig.I used to play Dead Island, Fallout New Vegas on max settings and resolutions,But ever since the latest A13 BIOS upgrade and the new 314.22 Nvidia Driver.
I noticed a significant drop in performance. Almost every game started to lag when the action becomes too "crowded" (lots of enemies etc).
And as for Dead island I noticed the performance drop after 20min of play. Not sure about overheating. (It seems like the usual temp if not maybe a Celsius hotter)
Noticed gaming performance drop after updating the bios and latest GPU driver???
So, basically I was being a clumsy idiot and I spilled some chicken noodle soup broth on my precious inspiron 1520 while I was using it.
Before I managed to shut it off, it started playing audio through the speakers as opposed to the headphones I had plugged in, but otherwise it was still running when I powered it down.
I took out the battery, unplugged everything, and held it upside down and let the liquid all drain out.
After it was done draining I let it sit for about an hour and then completely disassembled it, removed the heatsinks, fan, drives, cards, etc...
and except for the area where the media buttons were, almost everything was dry, even the things directly below the keyboard, the area around the audio jack, and in the area the liquid drained from .....
I've noticed lately that my framerate will suddenly go from ~100 fps (I set max there) or so to 20fps.
It will do that for almost a minute, and then suddenly for no good reason shoot back up to 100. Also, there would be times when absolutely nothing is happening in games, and it happens.
I used to think the drop was heavy firefights or traditional graphic issues like smoke or textures, but when i turned everything to the lowest, I still observed the exact same trend!
Windows Defender reports nothing and Spybot Search and Destroy reports nothing. I went through NHC to make sure HD is set on max performance and also set Battery Usage on max performance. I *thought* that would help, but the same thing started happening again after a small period (8-10 minutes) of no slow down.
Current theories are: 1. The cpu is overheating so it underclocks for a minute or so. 2. There is some process that I can't find (I might have missed something obvious) that checks in every 4-5 minutes
I have a dell e1505 for 3 years my adapter finally gave out. Dell is selling my old adapter for $70 something. I was wondering if non brand adapters will ruin my computer and where to find these adapters for cheap.
