Apr 19, 2010is the first year when you buy the laptop consider a "HP standard warranty period" because i want to upgrade the warrenty for acidental drop warrenty for hp. Is it possible to upgrade if the "basic manufactory warrenty" didnt expire yet?

Jan 28, 2010DV9000 series, when you press the power, the lights blink ad then it powers off. So i dissembled it ad removed the motherboard to have a look, the 1 year warrenty had expired.
Now it seems this is a common problem with this series and seems to always point to a bad motherboard, bad chipset or graphics on the board.
Now it will be obvious i had opened it up as i removed a cable that was taped to the board. If there is an extended warrenty for this problem am i screwed?

Does anyone know if there is a grace period? ie... amount of time from when you buy the extra coverage to first time you can utilize it? anyone have any feedback as to whether it has any eclusions or fine print that an average consumer should be aware of ?

My download speed is now around 40 kb/s from HP.com (for drivers), firefox set up download 45 kb/s? Also i've noticed that video's online buffer at an alarmingly slow rate. I have Cox high speed internet and it used to be around 400-600kb/s and pretty quick buffering. What the heck happened? And why did my graphics score drop .2 points?

Dec 22, 2009My key board started malfunctioning about 3 weeks ago. I phoned Dell Support and they said that they would not talk to me because I voided my warrenty by installing Windows 7. Is that true? How call Dell get away with voiding a hardware warrenty when you install different software? Jul 17, 2009Been lurking around these forums for sometime, unfortunately it seems my first post is slightly depressing.
I had an accident with the M90, cola spilt all down the back of the M90, and what made it worse is that it was done while i wasn't there, had left it to render. So don't know how long it was sitting in this puddle of coke, (I suspect the cat or toddler as culprits!).
Anyway, turned off straight away, phoned up dell as I wasn't sure if I had accidental warranty, bought item second hand, however I did transfer warranty successfully, shortly after point of sale.
Now it was only then that I found out the warranty included complete care, (my heart started beating again) and the service rep arranged a pick up for the following business day. Even though the machine had a next business day warranty, he said it could take up to a week as spillages often require long diagnostic tests. I wasn't fussy, I just wanted a repaired machine

Luckily I have accidental damage coverage on my system. If I were to file a claim, would they just completely refurbish my system, swap out my current system for a new m1330

Dec 26, 2009When I bought my laptop, I was offered 5 years of Dell Complete Care Accidental Damage Protection even though I only had ONE year limited warranty. This was all over Dell Chat online support.
The representative assured me that I did NOT have to extend my warranty past one year in order to take advantage of five years of accidental care.
In other words, I would have no coverage on manufacturer's defects past the first year, but if I dropped my laptop four years down the road, Dell would replace or repair it.

I have had the same issue with 10 days old Z690.
I found a small U-like crack around the bottom near the AC connector and the hinge are intact with the bottom housing.
I did not notice it was there after 10 days of use. Once I found it, I called Sony Customer Service to discuss about it , and I was connected to Tech Support for Repairing this unit. (I decided not to return it for credit since I already returned 4 Z690s for keyboard lifting issue for two, high-pitched noise, cosmetic damage and I got sick and tired of returning the VGN Z690)

Once the laptop arrived in the repair center, they gave me an estimate of $161.40 for replacement of bottom housing.
I should have sent it back for repair
but I gave the repair center one last chance and tried to save some time on placing new order.
I received the laptop on April 20th.
But high-pitched noise started to cry out for my attention...
which did not existed before the repair.. I sent it for repair on 22th and
it is still being diagnosed....

Dell :: Did Drop The Ball On The New Precision Line
Feb 16, 2009new precisin line (M4400 and M6400).
Most of them are solvable, but they require some effort.
A bit disappointing since I wish dell had come out with their top precision line which worked flawlessly "out of the box". Precision laptops have some great hardware and I would like to see dell kicking MBPs butt.
So, did drop the ball on the precision line ? Should it demand more from the device driver development team ?

My maximum latency can hit 90000 microseconds. Totally at my wits end. Oh, and this is 2 days out of the box.

Mar 23, 2009I have an Inspiron 9400 with a Core 2 Duo T7200 and GeForce Go 9700 GS.
While I'm using my computer, after about half an hour, there will be a performance drop. If I am playing a game my frame rate will drop to 5-10fps, Firefox will run slow, et cetera.
I believe it has something to do with the processor and the speedstep throttling crap.

I don't think that any of those modules are broken or something as everything else survived the drop. Does anyone know if all 3 wireless options are connected through some kind oa board?
