HP/Compaq :: Have I Messed Up Any Chance Of Extended Warrenty By Removing Motherboard

Jan 28, 2010

DV9000 series, when you press the power, the lights blink ad then it powers off. So i dissembled it ad removed the motherboard to have a look, the 1 year warrenty had expired.

Now it seems this is a common problem with this series and seems to always point to a bad motherboard, bad chipset or graphics on the board.

Now it will be obvious i had opened it up as i removed a cable that was taped to the board. If there is an extended warrenty for this problem am i screwed?

HP/Compaq :: HP Dv6565us Messed Up

Aug 17, 2009

The soundcard just turned off, the computer crashed and turned off. When it was back up, the soundcard could not be founded anymore, and i've got like fourty "Unknow Device on High Definition Audio Bus" on my device manager.

Like that:

I've tried everything, used all the recovery options from hp, even the restoration to the recorded image of the system. Tried to reinstall all drivers and nothing solved.

The system kept throwing windows nonstop. Like that:

So, what i did was just disabling the High Definition Audio Bus on System Device, and bought an Usb external sound card. Ok, its working great, BUT, i obviously dont get any sounds from the internal notebook speaker or microphone. And neither the mute light, on quickplay buttons, works. Its red all the time. Muted or not.

BUT, i want to give this notebook to my wife, but i still use this external soundcard for my musical recordings. So i really needed to figure out a way to solve this. I've contacted the HP Support Staff, none of them could help me. Warranty was over months before the problem. Obvioulsy.

HP/Compaq :: Messed With Belkin Adapter On Dv5t

Jul 13, 2009

I have an HP dv5t Notebook with a wireless card, Belkin. I dont know much about wireless adapters so it figures I would screw this up. I was trying to play with it to see if I could turn my wireless connection into working with my Xbox 360 (long story). To simplify things, I went into the Belkin standard IP address for utilities and enabled a "local access point." Since then, I have been unable to access internet or even access the Belkin menu to disable what I did!

HP/Compaq :: Messed Up My6910p After BIOS Update

Nov 15, 2009

I thought it was a good idea to update my BIOS from F0.A to F17.

I am now stuck with the fan constant running and I have checked some other threads and found that you can switch this off in the BIOS.

I have checked and it is already switched off!

I tried to restore to go back to the old BIOS but it seems I am f****d. Not possible.

Are there tricks to go back to the original firmware.

Are there third party software that can stop the fan turning all the time.

HP/Compaq :: Removing IDT Audio Improves Sound

Mar 13, 2009

I've been hearing some static when audio plays, not every time but occasionally. For example, when I click a hyperlink I'd sometimes hear the static, maybe 1/3 of the time. I decided to uninstall and reinstall the IDT driver.

I went to the Control Panel and uninstalled IDT Audio (I think it was called). After it was uninstalled the computer was silent, as I expected. Even though it didn't say to restart the computer I restarted anyway, just to be safe.

When the computer restarted I had sound again. Looking at the audio mixer it says I have a "High Definition Audio Device". Most importantly, I don't have the annoying static that was driving me crazy.

I'm inclined to not reinstall the IDT driver (just downloaded from HP). Is there any reason I need it if the Windows driver is providing good audio?

HP/Compaq :: HP DV6600 Motherboard

Apr 1, 2009

A friend of mine has a HP DV6600 with a suspected dead motherboard.

Basically the battery won't charge. A different charger and different battery have been tried but to no success. He has taken it to PC World who say the motherboard is fried, I come to the same conclusion as well as a different battery and charger have been tried. PC World want £250 to fix it.

I've taken a couple of Acer laptops apart and rebuilt them no problems. I'm thinking of doing this for my friend. How easy are HP's to dismantle to fit a motherboard.

Also does anyone know anywhere apart from ebay for motherboards. I've had a look but can only find one, and it may not fit as it's an AMD one, his may be an intel one, just in the process of finding out.

HP/Compaq :: Got A DV2432nr - Motherboard

May 20, 2009

I bought an HP DV2432nr with a bad motherboard. I am going to replace the mobo and give it to my GF for her college graduation present. I did some checking and found that this model is not covered by the extended service warranty deal for the failing motherboards so I am likely going to be buying a mobo for it. I checked with a higher up manager at HP that I know to see what he could do but havent heard anything back yet. Hopefully he can get me one for free or cheap but Im not putting a lot of stock in that one.

I have the machine apart and mobo is out. I have the spare part number and have located the mobo for like 150. However, what I was wondering was if it would be possible to put a mobo from a different DV2000 model in to this one? This one I have has the athlon t53 and nvidia 6150. I would really like to get a mobo out of like a dv27xx since those have the nvidia8400. Think this would work? Obviously if I get an intel board I will need to buy an intel processor. Without having both boards I would really not have a way to tell for sure. Also, I would need the spare part number for a dv27xx or other model mobo.

HP/Compaq :: Hp Dv9543cl Motherboard Replacement

to start off I updated my vid drivers to the most recent nvidia driver and it has been downhill from that point! When i boot up it shows bars on the screen and will not load windows so i shutdown and load using safe mode which starts right up but still has red artifacts on the screen, i then uninstall the nvidia driver and reboot windows now it loads up properly still has the red artifacts though. So now it is using a standard vga driver then i install a different nvidia driver and get the same problems

I fear i may need a new mboard, would i be able to fit a better mboard/gpu in this chassis if it turns out my gpu is dead? think this may fall under a recall or something?

Two questions if you'll indulge me - is this the motherboard that's gone? Most pages online suggest this and getting a new motherboard is expensive and likely to go again i think. Secondly do you guys know where the bext place for new to try and sell it for spares is and what could i possibly expect from it with a bad mb?

HP/Compaq :: Which Motherboard Do I Buy To Replace My Broken One

Jul 29, 2009

I have a DV9000, 17inch. A number (that I think is significant) 439112-001 is on the bottom of the laptop.

I need to buy a refurbished/spare part motherboard to replace the one that died in my other computer, but I can't figure out which one to buy. At first I thought it was as simple as buying a used DV9000 laptop or motherboard, but apparently not only does the screen size (13 vs 19 inch) matter, but also a number.

I see numbers on ebay with stuff like "447983-001"--that's why I thought that one number on the bottom of mine was important. But I can't find that number on any motherboard on ebay, and it only turns up 300 pages on google, which leads me to believe it isn't the right number.

HP/Compaq :: HP Pavilion DV5 AMD Motherboard 482324-001

HP Pavilion DV5 AMD Motherboard 482324-001. Can this work with a TL60 cpu and does the memory have to be 800Mhz. I got a broken dv5-1008 bad motherboard. I got a replacement board 482324-001, and installed 1Gig of 5300 ram and the AMD TL60-2GHz x2 that was on the old motherboard the new board will not boot. The lights blink 2 times, I think thats bios, if I try to reset the bios sometimes it will blink 3 times. The laptop will not boot just blinks. The board was tested before it was shipped. Is it because of the cpu and memory that I am using? My old board would work sometimes, but was very iffy and it would cut off at random times.
