Acer :: Confusing Aspire Model/sub Model Numbers
Mar 5, 2009I'm trying to find info on an aspire... Not the model # itself as that is not the problem, but the sub model#...
The model is Acer Aspire 8930G, but the sub model # is 6963 and that is where my research seems to go dry... Does anyone have info on this sub model #?
Also i might ask is how user friendly is the 8930G for upgrades as for the processor and video? The current processor is the T5800 with the 9600m nvidia... Would it make sense to upgrade and what is the potential of this 8930G with the T5800?

May 12, 2009Looking to pick up a notebook for almost the sole purpose of hooking up to an HDTV over HDMI and watching online streaming video. I was looking at the dv2z but the slower processor was a concern for Flash-based video and other processor intensive streaming video. Am I safe going with the dv2z, or should I be looking at the dv3z? Or even the dv4t? All three seem to be in the same approximate price range. More compact is better, but acceptable performance is most important.

Nov 11, 2009think the hard-drive on my dv9605ea laptop is failing. Can someone suggest me a reliable, value for money hard-drive? I'm looking at a minimum of 300 odd GB.
my original hard-drive seems to be from the Hitachi Travelstar 5K250 line.
Also, out of interest... as far as I understand most hard-drives come with a roughly 3 years warranty. Since my laptop is less than 2 yrs. old, is it likely the the hard-drive be covered by its manufacturer (Hitachi rather than HP)?

Dec 8, 2009My friend has a laptop which just went our of warranty last month. Now its out of warranty and today that hard disk is gone. It doesnot showup in BIOS and I tried everything that I could do to help her. The hdd is of Fujitsu and I thought that the hdd has a 3 year meanufacturing warranty atleast. So, we called Fujitsu about that and they told us that we should contact with HP to settle that but its out of warranty so its not of use.

Aug 9, 2009I have 3 years old dell inspiron 1300, everything worked just fine till today morning, i can't turn my computer on without the plugging in the charger, my battery is always at 0.0% (charging),
the battery was working just fine couple days ago giving me over 1:30 hours on battery power but takes more time to charge as when it was new,
and yeah, the bat. charging LED is always on (solid Green).

Dell Inspiron 1300 :: Will Not Power Up Properly - No Fan Noise
Apr 1, 2013Dell Inspiron 1300, turn the power on, the three led's at the top of the keyboard flash, the power light illumintes then after about 3 or 4 seconds turn off, there is no fan noise or any other noise I can hear.
I have removed the memory, the wireless card, the hard drive and the cd rom, still same symptoms.
Also removed battery and still same symptoms.
Checked battery and power cord on another 1300 works fine.
Right now I am leading toward either a bad invertor or bad motherboard.
I am not sure if the invertor supplys any signal back to mother board to say it is powered up or not. As a test I did unplug the cable from monitor to mother board and tried to turn on unit that way, but still same symptoms.

Apr 11, 2009a laptop cooler for the HP DV7t-2000 (17.3" widescreen, approx. important dimmensions 16.2"x10.9"). The laptop does not really get all that hot (except when I am playing games), but I just want to get a cooler so that I can keep the laptop in perfect condition. I want this laptop to stay in the best shape possible for as long as possible.
Right now, I have just been propping the back using some video game cases. But I want something that is a little bit more reliable and powerful.
When the notebook is in use, the vent is at the top left corner. When flipped over so that it is upside down (as is shown in the picture below), the vent is in the top right. Any suggestions that would fit this configuration (I hope it was clear, just wanted to be precise )?

I have tried to split to the C partition into 2 partition with "Paragon - software"
after it finish the machine reset and didn't boot again I tried to do recovery but it doesn't load, i manage to install another version on windows 7 home when i log in the machine i found that the recovery partition become dynamic and still cant boot from it
I tried to get HP backup and recovery manager for my lap but i cant find this version now i Need to do recovery what i should do

Something if I needed to use I could use while propped up in bed, nothing heavier than my old Inspiron 1300 which I don't know exactly how heavy it was but I need to replace it with another laptop, possible one lighter than my Inspiron 1300 which I would be using most of the time for web surfing and email. I know the lighter the laptops are the more expensive they are.

Oct 10, 2009I've got HP dv7-2043cl laptop. I want to find out what max GPU temp do you guys get, when you put stress on the graphics card. I am interested only in DV7-2xxx series with Ati Mobility 4650. Mine is around 46-48 when idle. Temp goes up to 70-74 in around three minutes when I run the Fur Mark stability test (1600x900, MSAA 8x, post processing and xtreme burning turned on). Clocks are at stock frequencies.
I wouldn't care about the temperature (it is not actually that high), but I have a problem. The computer just turns off when I play some games. For instance, if I play Fallout 3 at ultra settings (1600x900, 8x msaa, hdr), the computer powers off after a couple of minutes. Same thing with Crysis Warhead at high setting (1280x720, no msaa), even Half-Life 2 at max settings! When I lower the resolution in Fallout 3 to 1280x720 and MSAA to 4x, everything seems to be fine. Same thing with Half-Life 2. No similar luck with Crysis though. Looks like Crysis utilizes every single bit out of the GPU in any case.

Apr 25, 2009Bought a new dv7-2000, custom built. Nothing spectacular
As soon as I received it, I formated the drive and installed Windows XP Pro SP3. So far so good. All drivers installed, everything working.
Except for one little detail : I have sound on subwoofer only, no speaker, not even on headphones, no matter what jack I plug in. Sub does turn off when I plug the headphones though.
I tried several IDT drivers, all act the same.

Jan 21, 2009I'm trying to figure out the difference between the two other than the casing (one's metal and one's plastic). The 2140 uses a SATA connector vs a PATA connector. So for $25 extra(lowest config 2140 vs highest config 1000) you get a metal case and SATA connector?
Why would anyone buy the 1000? Am I missing something? Oh and the 2140 has a higher volatage adapter for 'fast charging'...what's left for the 1000?
