I have an Inspiron 1300 laptop. I had to re-install the OS because of problems. It was not a dell version of XP, just a generic. Now I have no way to get to the internet. All the sites I went to want me to download software to survey the laptop and then download needed drivers. How do I get drivers to download on another pc so I can move them and install on the laptop???

Device Manager says it is working properly but when it is aligned with the infrared port on my mobile phone the only result is 'connection error
I have 3 years old dell inspiron 1300, everything worked just fine till today morning, i can't turn my computer on without the plugging in the charger, my battery is always at 0.0% (charging),
the battery was working just fine couple days ago giving me over 1:30 hours on battery power but takes more time to charge as when it was new,
and yeah, the bat. charging LED is always on (solid Green).
Bios setup shows the battery performs normally and this what i get from the Device information (Ubuntu) :

Dell Inspiron 1300, turn the power on, the three led's at the top of the keyboard flash, the power light illumintes then after about 3 or 4 seconds turn off, there is no fan noise or any other noise I can hear.
I have removed the memory, the wireless card, the hard drive and the cd rom, still same symptoms.
Also removed battery and still same symptoms.
Checked battery and power cord on another 1300 works fine.
Right now I am leading toward either a bad invertor or bad motherboard.
I am not sure if the invertor supplys any signal back to mother board to say it is powered up or not. As a test I did unplug the cable from monitor to mother board and tried to turn on unit that way, but still same symptoms.
I'm seeking feedback on a lightweight replacement for an Inspiron 1300 I once had. Something if I needed to use I could use while propped up in bed, nothing heavier than my old Inspiron 1300 which I don't know exactly how heavy it was but I need to replace it with another laptop, possible one lighter than my Inspiron 1300 which I would be using most of the time for web surfing and email. I know the lighter the laptops are the more expensive they are.

On several attempts of troubleshooting, nothing resolved.
On pressing Function+CRT/LCD, the screen is white and no other signs.
there are no beep sounds heard during the start-up process and no logos appear.
Inspiron 1300, been plugging an external monitor in & using function F8 for years but it just failed. The monitor isn't recieving the signal anymore. Tried another monitor as well. My laptop screen is lit up as always, and I can see some movement when I cntrl alt delete, but I can't read anything to see what's wrong.Is it my video card? Is that the thing I plug my VGA cord for the monitor into?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Inspiron N7010 running Windows 7 a friend did a clean install on my computer after my game a and dell factory restore along with a some other issues continued to give out error message. In doing so he  completly wiped the driver software out. So now I can't connect to the internet and my aero transparnce isn't working either. I checked the device manager and under Other Devices were 3 drives a PCI controlle(i belivie) network adaptor and ethernet adopter. I'm not what driver software i should install in order to get it back working or at least the internet back up.

View 4 Replies View RelatedLast week I purchased a dell laptop on line and received it one day after the shipping notification. That's the good news. During the setup process everything went well except the wireless connection. The laptop was connecting to the router intermittantly and now will not connect at all. I have checked every setting I know of and talked with my internet provider last night to see if they may be the problem. All the people I have talked with tell me that the problem is most likely the Intel Centrion wireless-N 1030 card and site issues documented on other sites.
My attempt to get information from dell on Sunday evening was a nitemare and so I sent an email via customer service but have not yet received a reply. Here is my gripe. This is a new laptop and I should not have to find a fix for this problem. Also, I am computer literate to a point and don't feel I should have to spend my whole weekend "trying" to get a wireless connection on a new machine. It usually takes seconds. I am trying this forum to see if I can get some answers but honestly I will probably return the laptop that is if I can find the spot on the dell website that will let me request that.

View 1 Replies View RelatedEverytime I try and multitask on the internet my laptop freezes and I am forced to shut it down. Before it only happened while I was multi tasking but now it's getting a lot worser. It often freezes while I'm waiting for a YouTube video to load and now while I was in the process of posting a thread right here about this issue! I did some research online and run into two possible problems; overheating and video graphics card.It can't be overheating because my fan is working fine and I just ran a diagnostic.
As for the video graphics card, I did play around the settings last week after I installed a game called Elder Scrolls V:Skyrim. I configured by entire computer to run on high performance but now I've reverted this change and the freezing still happens. What I can tell you is that while I'm playing the game for over an hour, the laptop doesn't freeze at all. It only freezes now while I'm on the internet for at least more than 20-30 minutes or even less. I'm on Safe Mode with Networking right now as I'm typing.

Taskbar icon for Gigabit Network Connection shows "No Internet Access". Â But Internet access works fine. View 5 Replies View RelatedI had this problem with local internet area disconnecting and reconnecting (one second it shows it is enabled, other ethernet cable is unplugged, and that keeps repeating), which was caused by Ubuntu, I highly suspect.So I updated Bios to A11 and it charmingly fixed everything.
However, problem arose again. I've installed Ubuntu again on dual boot and tried updating Nvidia drivers which did not work well and broke Ubuntu again, which caused this internet problem again on windows 7 somehow (yes, this happened for second time . But this time I can't update Bios, or overwrite it's update).
I did not expect that after bios update this would happen again. I tried downloading various drivers from dell driver support. So, is there a way to overwrite same version of Bios, or (downloading some sort of drivers i might have mist, ect.?)
