Jan 14, 2015I bought this inspiron 15r 5521. Its approx 2 year old. There was warning in battery status in the PC checkup. Few days afterwards the laptop did not start up. I searched and did a hard reset..BUT when i shut it down or hibernate . again its like dead and i have to plug in the power cord for 20 min and do a hard reset to turn it on . It also happens that if i shut down while the power cord is plugged and i take it out and again plug it , it stops charging..(again need a hard reset).

Feb 22, 2010I connected a dvd drive to my laptop using, a sata to esata cable. my laptop has a ESATA port.
I don't know if you should post some kind of config summary (if yes let me know, I will do it promptly) basically I have a HP DV6t quad edition with an Intel 5 serie chipset,
PM55 express chipset (dont really know if it make any sense but still, I will just say state it) so I installed Intel Matrix Storage and when I connect the drive I can see it, but windows 7 does not see it, it's like I didn't plug anything in. [url] also my bios is almost configurable, I don't know why I can change the time, the date, the admin password, the boot order, virtualization, fan on/off that's pretty much it. so what options do I have if I want to make this dvd drive work?

Mar 9, 2010Has anyone installed a SSD drive in this model with success? If so, does the BIOS need to be upgraded? I have a Vertex 120 SSD drive I'm not using and am thinking about putting it in the Sony and installing Win 7/32 bit.
I would like for all the current functions to work such as the camera and video card. Would this be a big issue or should I just reload the original OS(XP).

There is no icon for "Safely Remove Hardware" as on other computers I have. I have not been able to find the program or its icon using "search" or "find". It is not indexed in the user guide.

May 15, 2009i bought a new hdx16 a week ago because my other laptop (sony) passed on.. but i need the data on the hard drive from the sony.. the way the sony died is i spilled OJ on it and it fried it.. but i removed the had drive at it looked untouched.. so i tried just swaping my hdx16 hard drive and putting the sony in.. but when i boot up i get BSOD.. my sony hdd had vista 32 bit installed.. and the hdx16s hdd has vista 64 bit.. i dont know what to do.. maybe something with the bios?

Jul 28, 2009I was a windows user before this and all of my photos have been edited with a title, keywords, and notes using the Right Click > Properties > Summary tab in windows. I am 95% sure this embeds the information into the exif data. Is there anyway to continue to do this with OS X or to search this with OS X?
I have found a few programs out there like ExifTool by Phil Harvey but it is a command line program that I am just scared of and then I just ran across MacMetaMod which looks promising....

Lastly, is it confirmed that 2MB sodimms will NOT work on this thing? I'd like to upgrade, currently have 2x 1 GB sodimms, would like to try 2 GB sodimms if it would recognize them.
Dell :: Recover Partition
Aug 12, 2007The Dell Recover Partition is a great idea and everything, but is it worth it? I tried creating a new partition on my harddrive to store my music and it won't let me because the drive is all locked up. I want to format the whole drive and start fresh so I can have a seperate partition for my personal files. This means getting rid of the recovery partition. They shipped me an XP installation disc, but no drivers...I can download those. Plus on the recovery partition there is a lot of bloatware.

stinking Blinking cursor on duh black screen thing . . . for and hour but I decided not to play Frisbee golf or discus throwing
So being such a lover of Vista I tried again . I put the RESTORE DVD that have always worked before (7 times before) into the optic drive,
Heard the DVD drive spin up and get duh . . .
I stated erecovery BUT
I get
ERROR in GetmapCDDriveL 0. . .
Choice is OK
So I tic OK and get. .
Acer eRecovery Management . . . Restore blah . . .
OK
Instead of working I get . . .
Type Mismatch and
OK
Do the oxymoron choice . . .
Than get the . . . please wait a moment . . . screen for an hour again. . .
So what is wrong as the Restore from drive and the restore from DVD do not get restored?

Jan 22, 2009I'm planning to kick my Aspire 5024 laptop back to the factory settings, but wanted to put one uncertainty to rest.
I understand C partition will be restored to out-of-box condition and it no longer contains anything important, all is backed up. However, I have run out of storage space with backing up the D-partition. The partitions are as they were when machine was bought.
Will Acer eRecovery touch the D: (DATA) partition if I instruct it to restore the factory setup? I have found multiple references saying both yes and no. Part of it is due to ambiguous language ("all files will be wiped" "the HDD will be in the condition you bought it" vs. assurances that D: is safe)

Mar 15, 2009When my Vaio TX770P crashed and burned recently , I removed the Toshiba 1.8" HDD1584 (80GB with ATA-100 interface and 50-pin female connector). Does anyone know how to recover the data from this disk drive?
I took a chance and tried purchasing a 1.8" ZIF LIF (iPod) HD Enclosure Case for Toshiba, Hitachi, and IBM Drives. Figured I'd take a shot for $13 + S&H since it advertised an easy USB cable interface. Clearly it was not meant to work with a 50-pin f connector though.

Apr 24, 2010I don't have one, but have been thinking about it & researching here. I see that it has a proprietary SSD that is probably not meant to be user serviceable. What do you do if you have sensitive data on there & need to get it repaired whether or not it's a SSD problem?
When I needed to get my Dell service I could easily remove the HDD & they accounted for that. Just googling about this now & I see they even have a policy of replacing your HDD without having to send them the faulty one at least with their business line. HP & Lenovo seem to have the same thing. They all look like an extra level of service you have to pay for though.

Usally when you start a new browser it ask you if you want to import any thing. But Safari 4 didn't. If I can't do this I will not switch, witch suck because I hear it's good.
HP/Compaq :: DV6000 Won't Power On
May 4, 2009I had a friend bring me her HP DV6000 telling me it won't boot.
When the power switch is pressed, all the lights come on for about 4 seconds, then go off. The screen never initializes.
I have noticed that touching the pad near the on switch/speakers will have the same effect.
I popped the switch panel and it looks to be plugged in and all the wiring intact.
I borrowed a known good battery and charger and it makes no difference.
The existing battery and charger work fine in the other DV6000.
Is it possible I need a new switch or cable? or is the mainboard toast?

Sep 12, 2009i was using my hp dv6000 laptop and tried to open a video file my system got rebooted instantly and after that I saw a crashed boot screen (HP logo was all distorted, vertical lines on that). Any way i went to the safe mode and uninstall the nvidia drivers, now its working fine with default windows vista home vga driver but the boot screen is still distorted. When i update the nvidia drivers the laptop refuses to go inside the windows.
Have to go to safe mode uninstall the driver and it starts working on default vga drivers.

Nov 12, 2009A friend of my g/f gave me her computer to fix. She said she took it to Best Buy and they said her HD is messed up. Now, if I order a new drive and the restore disks from HP, will that fix this issue? She is not worred about losing any data. Is my thinking correct? Install new HD, put in restore disks, start it up and follow the directions.
