I have EliteBook 8770w with HP ProtectTools enabled and just turned on the TPM security. I restarted and tried to access the BIOS, my password is accepted but pretty much all the options are disabled. Is this from the TPM chip?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to update BIOS on freshly bought HP 350 G1 notebook from F.11 to F.12 - which does have only FeeDOS installed. This is why (on my Lenovo) I downloaded URL... which is HP Notebook System BIOS Update, to create bootable USB to update BIOS. Now, after going through first few steps and getting choices what exactly I want to do, I get all options disabled.
After few hours of trying different things, all 4 USB ports (2x 3.0 and 2x 2.0), 3 different USB sticks I gave up and turned to you Why I want to update BIOS: To install Windows 7, because now It stops at a point that CD/DVD drive driver is not found and need to browse for it. On windows site it was written that updating BIOS.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have reinstalled the windows (an another version of win7) on my Dell Inspiron N5110 laptop (all previous partitions deleted, so it is same as if installed a new hdd). I have installed the drivers from my original dell drivers dvd. Everything is good, but the sleep function is disabled, grayed in the start menu (hibernation is enabled). What may the problem? I would use sleep instead of hibernating.

The HP Wireless Assistant has the following message: Wireless LAN Adapter: This device is disabled in the device manager and cannot be enabled from Wirelss Assistant. It can still be turned off.
I have checked the device manager do not see where to turn it on.
There is a blue light on the above the keyboard and on the front side of the laptop. It's turned on in the bios. I've tried to resintall the driver.
The wireless device model # installed is:

How to proceed? I hope to avoid a complete resinstall.
I have a W530, with i7 and 16G standard setup. I want to enable HV-X and found they are marked as Disabled, and gray-out in BIOS, also date is gray-out also.
i7 must support virtualizaion, while time setting is gray-out, I think this is either a security issue or a BIOS bug, but I had same problem with 2013 Feb BIOS, and also update to 2014 latest BIOS, same problem here.
In the past we've restrict the boot options on our laptops vis bios sequence to prevent unauthorised reimaging of machines. However I've just noticed our newest Latitude e6230 still list all the devices as available despite these settings. Screenshots attached.

For some reason, when I access the BIOS settings menu, most of the options are greyed out (e.g. I can't switch off the requirement for a password at boot).
Any idea how to re-enable the settings?
I have a EliteBook 8470p and i lost my bios password. When I press F10 for enter in BIOS, after 3 failures a screen appears and ask me to add code (with virtual keybord). I have no code. So, it said computer is locked and I need to restart.

View 1 Replies View Related2 beeps I thought was a memory issue but the screen doesn't say anything about a memory problem. there are 3 options 1 boot to windows 2 boot options and the 3 I cant remember. option 2 and 3 may be out of order. I have looked in bios for memory test to turn it off but I don't see it. pressing F1 (first option) boots normally and system runs great as usual. 1 other thing, the battery light flashes red 4 times and then holds white for a second then cycles back to the flashing red. this all started at the same time. I tried to do a bios update but im already running the latest version so I get the window that says it wont be completed. the battery does seem to last a very long time as it usualy does, its a 9 cell battery.

When selected "Boot List Option" under bios settings i see legacy and uefi but i can´t "Add Boot Options" - Warning "File System not Found". Windows 7 Pro 32 Bit is installed and working under legacy but not working on uefi. When uefi selcted windows 7 pro 32 Bit is installed and when installation is finish can´t find bootable device.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy client has an elitebook 8440p and has been using the fingerprint logon for so long he has forgotten his bios password. There is no setup of security questions or usb spare key available.
We can get into the bios via fingerprint but cannot remove the bios password or regain this password. From what I understand, even though he can log in with his finger and access the bios with his finger, he cannot remove or change his typed password.
From other posts I saw that HP emailed a file to remove the bios security to the user in similar cases. I am looking for who he should contact, via email, phone, etc, to get his bios security removed. Again, he can access using his fingerprint only at this point and wants to remove all security at this point.
I have two Inspiron 17R 5720, identical?, except bios in one only shows Sata options ATA and AHCI. The other show all Sata options ATA, AHCI, and Intel Rapid Start. Both are running Bios A14.
What can be changed to make both display all three Sata options?

The reason I would like to know is that I have recently purchased a docking station (model: 4338) and 3 external monitors which I would like to use simultaneously.
