Dell Inspiron N5110 :: Sleep Function Disabled After Windows 7 Reinstall - Grayed In Start Menu
Jan 5, 2015
I have reinstalled the windows (an another version of win7) on my Dell Inspiron N5110 laptop (all previous partitions deleted, so it is same as if installed a new hdd). I have installed the drivers from my original dell drivers dvd. Everything is good, but the sleep function is disabled, grayed in the start menu (hibernation is enabled). What may the problem? I would use sleep instead of hibernating.
I just received replacement media to install win 7 on Inspiron N5110. The install is failing with a general Windows install message, restarts computer to complete setup then errors again. I ran the diagnostics again and the memory is getting this error:
I have installed windows 8 on my dell inpiron n5110 but as it has a lot of bugs, i have uninstalled Windows 8. Now i am reinstalling Windows 7 in it but it is not working properly.
I tried installing Windows 7 several times but each time when Windows 7 installation finishes, system restarts and shows following blue screen.
Windows 7 is not moving further. Each time when i restarts computer, Windows splash screen (Windows Logo Screen) shows and then moves to error screen.
I have EliteBook 8770w with HP ProtectTools enabled and just turned on the TPM security. I restarted and tried to access the BIOS, my password is accepted but pretty much all the options are disabled. Is this from the TPM chip?
I purchased a new Dell XPS 11 9P33 a few days ago and the Windows logo button located on the touch screen is randomly vibrating and switching to the Windows start menu in Windows 8.1. The Windows button will randomly vibrate and switch to the start menu even when no one is touching the laptop. It seems to start slow at first happening once every few minutes then it gets worse so that the Windows button is switching to the start menu rapidly several times in a row making the laptop unusable.
Rebooting the laptop doesn't seem to work, the issue comes right back in a few minutes. This happens when viewing the BIOS without being logged into Windows so it appears to be a hardware issue. The local computer store had another Dell XPS 11 in stock so I exchanged it for the other one but now the new XPS 11 has the exact same issue that the first XPS 11 had. It has BIOS version A00 installed which appears to be the latest BIOS version. It's a great laptop otherwise and I would love to keep it, is there any possibility this will be fixed in an upcoming BIOS update?
I'm having this extremely annoying problem with my HP Pavilion dv6-model1334us. Everytime I try to start up my laptop it always shows the menu screen saying Launch Start Up Repair or Start Windows Normally. I've tried to do a system restore multiple times, but the screen just stops on a blue screen. No it isn't the Blue Screen of Death, but it does attempt to start but fails and stands on the screen until it automatically or manually shuts down.
When I close the lid to my laptop it doesn't sleep. I did check the power settings and it is set to when the lid closes the computer goes to sleep. I've tried changing it to shutdown when the lid closes, but it doesn't even shutdown. I can still see the power light on when the lid is closed and I can still here my computer running. Everything was working fine, then it stopped working a couple of days ago.
My Sleep button stopped recently. I installed TuneUp Utilities 2013. will this be a problem? There are three buttons on the top right of the key board. First one is working fine but the remaining two are not functioning. when I press them, button is glowing in white for a couple of seconds and nothing happening.
I generally use my lappy to listen to music and while it plays, I used to put the monitor off to save power. But suddenly it stopped working. Is this a hardware problem or something else? I tried restoring the power options but didn't solve the issue.
And my laptop is taking so much (around 15 minutes) for re-booting. Of course I have installed many programs. I make sure to remove all the un-necessary start up programs. I have a 8 GB RAM. But when compared to other laptops, it is taking really huge time to start!
I've had my Dell Insprion N5110 for about a year now with little issue, but lately this really annoying problem has arose. Every time I just close my laptop (to put it in sleep mode, essentially) and then open it back up... it wont turn on. The power bottom stays completely lit up (not blinking, like it would in sleep/hibernation mode) but no matter what I press, it wont turn on. I end up having to completely shut it down every time. i did update for BOIS and VGA nothing happen

I have a dell Inspiron N5110 which is just over a year old. I upgraded to windows 8 not too long ago and my laptop has been just fine until today. When I close the lid or do anything to put my computer to sleep, it freezes up. The power button light stays solid and it seems like the computer is stuck. The only way to get it to do anything is to hold the power button down. My bios is updated to A11 which is the latest version. I don't know what else to do. Seems like I've tried everything but I can't figure it out.
I have a Inspiron N5110 which beeps 8 times on start up and nothing comes up on the display, external monitor works fine. I replaced the lcd and the same thing. Is there sometining else I should be looking at??
I have a very confusing issue with my Dell Inspiron N5110 Core i5 laptop. Sometimes when I try to switch it on, it doesn't do anything at all. I tried to talk the battery and the AC adapter out, press and hold the power button for 30 seconds, put the battery and the AC adapter back in but nothing at all happens. No lights are showing up at all on it even when i'm having the AC adapter however i am sure that the adapter is fine.
What confuses me that when i leave it for a day or two and try again, it just works fine. It is about 7 months old and it came up with Windows 7 home edition on it.
I have a problem with my Dell Inspiron N5110. Its making a beep sound ( 5 in a row ) during system start up. Gradually the volume reduces and become very minute but still I am able to hear.
I have a Dell Inspiron N5110. It ended up crashing on me about a week ago. I chose to restore the whole Computer. The computer ended up being stuck in restore mode. I let it be for three days--Too scared to shut it off. Finally I did. I ended up going and doing another restore. It worked. I started up my computer, set up the Internet and all that, then boom. It didn't want to start. It would restart itself every two seconds. I couldn't get past it shutting down on me. Then the last two days, it will start, and go to the "error recovery" page. I can select both options and both will Trigger it to restart again and open up the same page.
My dell Inspiron N5110 Beeps 5 times, stop, 5 beeps, stop then the windows open normally and every thing is fine. However i changed the coin cell battery twice and nothing change still beeps. So i updated the BIOS but unfortunately didn't work. More over i did a system restore to a windows update a week ago also still beeps at startup.
I purchased Dell Inspiron N5110 last December, last one year i didn't got any problem with the laptop ,but once warranty got expired i got the problem like monitor display got damaged( which as rectified) ,
After that from past couple of days I am getting like 3 beep sounds from my laptop while start of my laptop and when shutdown of my laptop, why am getting three BEEP sounds from my laptop..
I've just dropped my laptop (dell inspirion n5110) while it was on (about a feet) and now it's beeping. I also noticed that the bottom left of the screen disattached, but I was able to put it back in. I understand that 8 beeps mean LCD failure. I've tried to do the test run by pressing "D" but nothing shows up, only a white screen.
I'm trying to understand why my new Inspiron 15 7000 series takes so long to start after being put to sleep as I don't believe it should take this long.
The power settings are configured to go into sleep mode whenever the lid is closed or the power button is pressed. If, after closing the lid, I re-open the lid within a short space of time, the laptop bursts into life almost immediately. However, if it is left longer, then when opening the lid, nothing happens and I have to (briefly) press the power button. It then takes about 30 seconds for the windows desktop to appear. This is simply too long!
I've also noticed that if the laptop is left idle and it "powers off", which is set to sleep mode then it again takes about 30 seconds to resume when pressing the power button.
The laptop is running Windows 8.1 64 bit and has 8gb of RAM and an i7-4510U CPU.
I have a 5 year old Acer laptop running windows 7, which is faster at starting from hibernate mode than this Dell Inspiron, which suggests that the Dell is actually hibernating, however none of the power settings are set for it to do this.
How to get this Dell Inspiron to start in a reasonable time from sleep mode as 30 seconds is not acceptable.
I have bought my new laptop 3 months ago.My laptop was running fine and I happily played counter strike on it.After some days while listening songs. My laptops speakers stops working than I go to the dell warranty claim centre they took my pc and change the speaker of my laptop and give me back after one week but after getting my pc back I am trying to play the counter strike game but when I run the counter strike game my laptop shutdown immediately. My laptop is dell core i5 n5110 with 4 gb ram and 1 gb nvidia graphics card.
I have a laptop in our lab that was full of a bunch of software that had been installed over the last year or so and I was trying to bring it back to how it was shipped from the factory. After booting with the F8 option then through Advanced Options I selected to restore the laptop to the factory image since there was no data that I needed from the unit. After the laptop restoration was finished I now boot to the BSOD and it perpetually asks for a startup repair which does not work. I made this unit a door stopper needless to say since there are no disks included in the purchase. Is there any way to get this laptop back to factory?
Recently, I have setup windows 8 pro on my inspiron 7520 SE but I found it sucks so I've decided to get my windows 7 back.Once tapping the F8 button to access the boot menu as usual, Nothing appears so I searched in the internet for a solution but with no use.Now I am getting trouble to get my windows back and I just need to know how to get to the boot menu and why isn't the F8 key working as it used to ?
My Acer 5100 laptop. When i turn it on it starts up normally but when it gets to the desktop part the "start menu bar at the bottom" shows up until the computer is done loading then it dissappears.. Anyone know wats wrong with it?? I reformatted it some time now and it worked until like 3 wks later it does it again. I have to push my window button to get to my stuff but i cant see the little icon at the bottom right corner and my wireless. My start menu bar is gone.
I've dell Inspiron N5110 and I'm using it since past 3 and half years. In 2013, base of the laptop was broken and I had to replace it with a new one though there was no problem in hardware at all. Soon after the dell representative installed the new base and left my house I was facing a weird problem. When I power on the laptop, my screen gives a mild flash but does not start (6 out of 10 times, not always), but I can hear windows start up sound in the back ground. I use to press power button again to lock or stand by the laptop and then move my mouse. After performing this I can see the screen glows and log on screen shows up.
I was using my laptop like this for past 1.5 years as pressing a power button was no big deal. Today on the eve of new year, I saw my trick does not work any more. I was not able to start my screen even after repetitive attempts. But I remember I used it last night, display was really fine.
My computer doesn't seem to start up anymore. It only enters the "Boot menu" tab with no further information. When I'm trying to press "Enter" it just returns back to same screen again. Is my harddrive broken? Is there some reset button available anywhere on the device?
I am trying to format my C drive and have a fresh installation of the operating system on my Inspiron 1460, which I bought 3 years back. Steps that I am following:
1. Insert Re-installation DVD for Windows 7 Home, provided by Dell
2. Power off machine
3. Power on machine
4. While it is starting press F12, and select CD/DVD and press Enter
5. "press any to key read from cd/dvd" appears, press Enter
6. System boots up
7. Install now button appears, click it
After this it is asking for a driver cd/location to install. I have a driver software cd which is also not recognized.
I am using an Inspiron 15R SE 7520 which I upgraded to Windows 8 after partitioning my hard drive (two accessible drives c: and d:). The restore partition was left intact.
Due to a software incompatibility I am going to have to restore back to Windows 7, and I hope to use the Dell restore utility.
My question is: If I use the utility will my D drive data (backed up files etc) also be wiped, or will just the C drive be reformatted?
I am trying to reinstall Windows 8 on my Inspiron 15Z 5523. I recently got the restore media from Dell with a Windows 8 install disk, but the disk does not have drivers present to access the hard drive/SSD array. Every time I try to install it, it says there is a driver missing.
I originally had tried to restore the system, and I reformatted the hard drive with Dell's utility, but then I ran into a problem because the Dell utility to create recovery media only produced one disk (it did not give me the system image, so I had nothing to restore).
I cannot get Windows 8 reinstalled (nor any other version of Windows) on it. What do I need to do to load the HDD/SDD RAID Drivers on the computer to install Windows?
