View 3 RepliesI have an Inspiron 5520 with Win 8 and for the last few days every time the system boots up I get the following message: "checking media (fail)". The message appears twice then the system boots normally. All the programs/apps work fine. The only "media" program I used was Windows Movie Maker and it works just fine.
View 5 Replies View RelatedToday, I was prompted by the HP Support Assistant software that a BIOS update was available, so I had the application download and install the update. When the computer came back up, it is stating the a boot device cannot be found.
I have an HP ENVY TouchSmart m7-j010dx Notebook PC running Windows 8.1. Laptop was functioning just fine prior to the update, which means I probably shouldn't have allowed the BIOS update.
I recently bought an Acer 7720 with Vista Home Premium, a few days after setting it up I would go to use the computer and find it had turned off. Looking in the event log I see event error 6008 "the previous shutdown was unexpected"
I sent that laptop back for a replacement, the other day laptop #2 arrived and again I am getting the 6008 error. I was watching a youtube vid yesterday and it just shut right off.
My computer won't boot an I have the error stated in the title. Also where is the installation disk I can use to fix my computer, do you get them with the pc.

You need to use the recovery tools on your installation media. Is your don't have any installation media (like a disc or USB device), contact your system administrator or PC manufacturer. After pressing the ESC button opens a Startup Menu with a choose an actions like: f1 - system information (worked), f2 - system diagnostic (worked), f9 - boot device options (doesn't work) , f10 - BIOS setup (doesn't work), f11 - system recovery (doesn't work). When I click on these buttons (f9, f10, f11) again loaded a blue screen with an error. On the usb-drives with images does not respond in any way.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an acer aspire 5610 and am having a problem. Everything was working perfect then randomly one day it went black. When i log in it still has the windows sign and everything but when i am in the desktop it is black there is no start bar or Icons or backround. Basically my GUI is gone. but i can still see my mouse pointer. I found that i can run programs by opening task manager and clicking file and start new task then browsing on what used to be my desktop for the internet icon. this works and everything works as it should. but i get an error message fo most all programs other than internet.
i have attached screenshots of my desktop and of the error message that pops up.
at this point i dont care about salvaging the stuff on my comp just want to reset it back to factory defaults. I have tried recoverry CDs that were made and it doesnt recognize them, i cant get to eRecovery due to the error message
Getting the following Error Message while ejecting the dvd drive from my computer..
"save any open files on this disc, and then close the files or programs using the files before ejecting the disc"
The eject works fine when performed manually.
My Nero also does not detect the Drive as a result I am unable to burn anything
Its telling me that i need to repair from the vista CD but keeps coming up with the same error message. It keeps repairing it and once ive clicked finish it still doesnt go onto windows from there.
The error message is:
"Windowssystem32driversmsisadrv.sys
Status 0xc00000e9
Failed to load due to this critical system driver is missing or corrupt"
I have tried to download the drivers off the Acer website but they dont seem to have any effect.
I recently updated my bios and decided to do a new full install of Windows 7. (Previously running Windows 7 Beta).
After doing a clean install and installing the Sony Notebook Utilities. I started getting this pop up message.
"The installed battery may not be properly connected to the computer or may not be compatible with the computer.
Click OK to enter Hibernate Mode, and remove reinsert the battery
See the electronic VIOA(R) User guide for more information about using the battery"
At first I thought this was an issue with Windows 7 - so after searching the forums and no results I figured I would revert back to Vista. Now I am getting the same error.
I also have two Sony Notebook batteries here - both bought direct from Sony. One extended and one standard - both give same error message.
Could this be a BIOS issue? Is there a way to revert to an older bios?
My Inspiron 15z was just repaired today (it got a new motherboard due to a different problem that is now fixed). After the first power on with the new motherboard, I received an error message that said, "The exception unknown software exception (0xe0434352) occurred in the application at location 0x76b74b32." I have not seen this message again (I've since powered down and rebooted 3 times), but I'm still unsure as to whether this should be a message I should be concerned about and look further into.
View 1 Replies View Relatedhow to troubleshoot the Hard Disk (3F0) error message.
3F0 can be caused by 3 things
1. Bad hard drive or partition structure, erase the entire hard drive then use HP recovery discs to attempt reinstall of the OS and all partitions.
2. Bad hard drive data cable that connects it to the motherboard, replace the cable
3. Bad sata controller on the motherboard replaces the motherboard or laptop.
Now, the first step, is to test the Hard Drive out in the BIOS if you can get into it.
You will need to boot up the notebook and press F10. If you can get into the BIOS you will need to run the self-test. Here is a document showing you how to run the test. If you can't get into the BIOS I would suggest removing the HDD and then try getting into the BIOS again. Once you remove the HDD boot the notebook up again and press F10. If you can get into the BIOS, then the HDD is bad.
Here is a video showing you how to remove the HDD:
My laptop speaker not working no sound. Sometime its work but very low sound, mostly it not working. I am using HP laptop core i5

When I boot my Inspiron n5720 laptop, an error box pops up that says "can't find plugins". The only option is to click "Okay" and the message goes away. It is a system message because there is a 'dell' icon on the toolbar when it's showing. I have checked the registry for errors, removed unneeded software, run anti virus and anti malware programs and the message still appears every time I start the computer. What could cause this?

to return to the Drivers & Downloads page.
It detects my service tag, but gets no further.
I have a Probook 4730s with Windows 7. I continue to get the following error after the computer starts up -
hpConnectionManager.exe
Cannot load assembly:
System.Data.SQLite, Version=1.0.61.0, Culture=neutral,

The application will now exit.
It does not appear to have a negative impact but it is annoying get this at each start up.
Every time I start up my Extensa 4420, I get the following error message window:
"The Catalyst Control Center is not supported by the driver version of your enabled graphics adapter. Please update your ATI graphics driver, or enable your adapter using the Displays Manager."
Why is this happening? If I go into the device manager, it says that the graphics adapter is working. If I tell it to check for updated drivers it says that the driver I have installed is the most current one. Everything seems to work fine on the computer. How can I stop the message from popping up every time?
My Inspiron 15z was just repaired today (it got a new motherboard due to a different problem that is now fixed). But now, whenever I start up my laptop, I get an error message from Intel Rapid Start Technology Manager that says "Your system does not appear to have Intel Rapid Start Technology enabled." I have never gotten this error message before. It is only now after my motherboard has been replaced. I don't understand what Intel Rapid Start Technology is and if I should have it enabled, and if so how to enable it.

When I go into the BIOS, All the information about the system is xxxxxxx. When I go into HP support assistance. The product name, serial number, and product number is yyyyyyyy. I know this is wrong, why?
My HP TouchSmart tm2 with the product number of VL618AV won't turn on past the logo screen. I really don't understand why this is happening because it is just over a year old. I have Windows 7 and there are no error messages on the computer.

"warning The battery cannot be identified. This system will be unable to charge this battery press any key to continue"
I did search the Internet and this forum but have not find any workable solution. My latop came with BIOS version 2.1.0 A07, tried to refresh the BIOS with the same version, and higher versions all the way to version A15 but no luck.
The battery does hold charge and the message disappear if I remove the battery and bootup with the AC adapter alone.

I've had my netbook for a few years and this error message has been appearing bottom right since I got it. Both USB ports have always worked fine. Device manager it shows a USB controller as not recognised by Windows. f I try to 'update' it says wndows doesn't recognise it. I can disable it but of course it renistalls on reboot and the message starts again.
I ignored it as it didn't do any harm. Recently I did a factory reset expecting this to do the trick but it didn't. I also updated the bios to v2034 I think but there's not much content to it so I've not got any USB options there.
I'm wondering if there are chipset drivers I need to get, though the Acer site doesn't offer anyting new there.
I have a XPS 17 ( L702x) system which is about 1.5 years old. I am getting an error message which states; Driver_Power_State_Failure .... The monitor/screen is also flicking from time to time.
Also, I have recently upgraded from Win 7 to Win 8; could this have contributed to the problem? It was working perfectly until this up-grade.
My integrated webcam on my lenovo yoga ideapad seems to be malfuncitoning. When I try to open any camera using applications the screen is black with no error message or viewable problems. When I check in device manager the camera says all the drivers are updated and it is in working condition.
Things I've tried/ Things others have suggested and did not work:
fn+esc
Trying it in other apps besides camera
Check device manager for driver issues
Update Drivers
Disable Camera
