I recently bought an Acer 7720 with Vista Home Premium, a few days after setting it up I would go to use the computer and find it had turned off. Looking in the event log I see event error 6008 "the previous shutdown was unexpected"
I sent that laptop back for a replacement, the other day laptop #2 arrived and again I am getting the 6008 error. I was watching a youtube vid yesterday and it just shut right off.
I have hp envy m6 notebook.it does not boot-up and give the attached error message. When hard disk test was done, it gives the error code in second attachment.
I got a Acer Aspire 4315 for Christmas this year....
It has been running great , on Vista, untill recently....
I have 2 problems:
1.... When switching on sometimes i get a blank white screen....? I can hear it swithing on, the fan spinning and the windows welcome noise but NO SCREEN! What is going on? This also happens at random times, sometimes i think its when it gets too hot?
2..... My Ac adapter, power suply... When left on fora long time gets very hot? I understand that this is normal... But why does it make a very annoying high pitched noise?
I got an Acer Aspire E 14 laptop unit. It's 4 days old with me. And I noticed when it gets in a low battery status, it doesn't give any notifications at all, even though the notification settings were turned on.
I have a 4 year old Dell which I have had cleaned and maintained by Dell services in order to keep temperatures and hardware in check.
However, I am constantly experiencing an "Event" according to Event viewer, or "Event 6008". What it says is "Computer shutdown at X time unexpectedly."
I have monitored temperatures, have all latest drivers for all components, yet I continually get the same crash. The computer goes completely off, no bluescreen, no error. I used "Who Crashed" in an attempt to record a dump file, but it keeps coming empty.
The error/crash occurs only during games, some more frequent than others. I have tried all possible options for those games, low to high settings/resolutions/etc, no background programs running - no difference.
Some days, the error/crash occurs more rarely when unplugged and running on battery(which don't last more than an hour), and once I plug it in to charge it, it starts crashing in a few minutes.
It is also running Windows 7 64-bit, upgraded from the stock Vista(where the error/crash also kept occuring).
The laptop is a Dell Studio 1555(the widescreen version). I took it to one of Dell's shop for them to "fix it", tho after running all their stress tests they told me there is nothing wrong with the computer. So 7 completely different games crash the computer, but Dell's stress tests fail to identify what is wrong with it?
I posted this in another thread, but I figured I'd bring it over here so people would know that they might be in for a battle if they decide to purchase a Dell.
Friday 10/9/09 We priced out our orders and made an order. Something happened with my DPA and the following series happened:
1) My order was cancelled. 2) My DPA was put on hold pending validation. 3) I spent 3 hours *that night* trying to figure out what was going on and nobody
would tell me until I finally got a hold of some one telling me that this all occurred because my initial rep put in "Avenue" instead of "Street" on my DPA setup.
The rep I'm on the phone with that finally spills those beans tells me that she can't help me recreate the order because she isn't EPP, and EPP is closed
CPU stock FSB clock: 267 (2.4ghz) Overclocked CPU clock: 301 (2.7ghz)
Now I noticed an option on motherboard tab "PCIe slot 1: 2500mhz" should I increase the PCIe clock? to about 2700mhz just like the processor, or how much should I move it, or do I even need to move it? Is there any benefit of playing with pcie clock, or what does it effect in the system in terms of hardware?
rather, what I mean is ... how much would it cost (and what would i need to do ) to get a dell laptop with the above screen res ... I can't seem to find any on the dell site that offer that option
Do slower processors give longer battery life? How much of an effect?
I'm looking to get a Studio and wonder whether I should consider a slower processor for that reason. If it bogs down under Vista, however, that's not good.
In Feb. I purchased an XPS M1330 with 2GB of ram and Vista Home Premium. I've since upgraded the ram to 4GB and would like to install the 64bit version of VHP. Is there any chance that Dell would just send it to me if I called? Has anyone been successful in getting the 64bit version of Vista Home Premium?
Few days ago my laptop has this problem, whenever i use battery, meaning im not charging my laptop ..the speaker give crackling sound ..and i have to change sound format from 192000Hz to 96000Hz ..thats only work in balance mode and high performance, but when in power saver ..i have to change to 48000Hz ..it also happen when charging my laptop ...so what is the problem ? i rarely use my laptop speaker because i have external speaker ..but this is the first time it happen ...last week laptop speaker work perfectly ..why now?
Dell Inspiron n5110 does not hibernate or turn off when i give the command. when i give the command a black screen appears and the power button light, the sleep button light remain on. I have to then hold the power button in order to turn off my laptop. This started happening since yesterday. Before that it was working perfectly fine.
just like my sony laptop FW510f, it have the ATI 4650, but the GPU frequency is 450 and memory is 600. i think dell can do like it to avoid the fan's noisy(its runs when i press the start button), and the throttling problem.
BTW: my 1647's fan keep spin and the gpu temp is 50 when its idle, is it normal? the ambient no more than 20c
i just bought vaio notebook windows vista with intel Pentium Dual Core and why the hell when i watch youtube videos they all look crappy and it doesn't give me good high quality or HD! and can this be solved i wanna see good old movies in youtube but they look blurry and crappy.
Since the past couple of days I am receiving this Error 2102: Detection error in HDD2 during every cold/warm boot. It pops up even after a complete powerdown for overnight and boot up the next day. Further, the boot itself has become very slow - shows blank screen until the Thinkpad logo is displayed, followed by which the error message pops up.
I got my 430s, and it's with a 16Gb mSATA SSD cache inside. Now everytime when I open my PC, it shows Error 2101 Detection error on HDD2 (mini sata) and I need to press ESC to continue. Is there any software or driver's problem, or it just phsically got wrong?
HP battery alert system detected battery capacity to be very low error 601 (internal battery). So I changed the cell to a new CR 2032 battery. Showed the same error. I changed to another new CR2032 battery. The second time I did this I had a new 502 CMOS error along with the 601 error. My clock reverted back to 2009, I lost some of the icons on the lower right, and my wireless internet disappeared.
Now I have two things that need to be fixed.
I turned on, immediately hti ESC, hit system diag. F2, Battery Test: Battery Test Primary FAILED (on the first battery I put in, didn't check on the second)
Control - Device Mgr. - HP - Batteries - Microsoft AC Adapter, Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery, and Microsoft Composit Battery all show that they work.
System CMOS/realtime clock says its working.
Microsoft System Mgmt. - BIOS Driver v. 6.1.7601.17514 from 6/21/2006 says it's the latest version.
I've manually updated my clock. I'll figure out the wireless and icons later I guess. Just need to know what to do about the errors.
Was using the Acer Arcade and was informed about the latest patch by the Live Update.
I ran the install patch and during install the McAfee informed me that two of the files were trojams and had to be removed. The files were CL26934.RRA and CLDO7416.RRA, so now when I stick my blu-ray into the drive I get an unexpected error from the Acer Arcade and it won't run.
So where did the files go, and why would ACER put out a patch that conflicts with the pre-installed anti-virus?
i have a 1705 with 7900gs. ive been getting alot of nmi errors nonparity memory errors. so i replace my old mem stick with two brand new ones. well this did not solve the issues. so i reflash my 7900 back to default and still getting this error. i reformat my machine often so im pretty sure the os is affecting it.
i just installed win 7 and it's really amazing, but i have an issue with 7loader 1.5
My win7 is v 7600.16385.090713 Home Premium
After installation i turned off the UAC and started the 7loader and did all the procedures. But when i restarted win wont start and remained with the promt command flashing and nothing happens.
The niece brought her Acer Aspire 3680-2682 laptop to me it would not boot to windows, after POST getting an error message:
Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
system32hal.dll Please reinstall a copy of the above file
but before that, when I power on the unit, it says: Please select the OS to start: Microsoft Windows XP Professional Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
Strange thing with the above is that this is supposed to be a Vista unit so why are those OS showing up? Anyway when I try to reload the OS, I am getting this error:
Installation was cancelled Windows cannot install required files. The file may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files required for installation are available and restart the installation. Error code: 0x80070017
Just bought a new Acer laptop 5730z. (Acer Aspire 5730Z-322G16Mi)
At first, when installing windows vista premium I got an error 0x d000000D in the very beginning after chosen language setup.. Then the system restarted and tried to re-install(?) software or so..
When it had done it 80-90 %, it started all over again three-four times. It stopped always somewhere between 80-90%. It took 1-2 hours to get Vista installed on this computer, after several restarting. After I got Vista installed, then Windows-updates won't work. The system freezes always when trying to get updates. Browser Firefox crashes all the time, even task manager crashes..
Is the computer broken or is there something terrible wrong with vista? Maybe problem with memory? Motherboard? Corrupted harddisk, install-files? And yes, no cd's came with.. I didn't even manage to burn eRecovery dvd's (needed two disks). After one disk the eRecovery just stopped and said, that disk cannot be created.
i havn't used my DvD burner in aprox 3 month's and it was working fine with Nero 7 Premium. i have just atempted to burn a dvd when that error come up "Power Calibration Error" the dvd burner that i have is Matshita DVD-RAM UJ-845S. i don't know what to do. i am running a Aspire 5672WLMI
I used 2 X 2GB memory but on my BIOS it recon only 3.3 GB, but few days ago my laptop going nuts, my geforce 7300 go is falling.
after contacted my local acer service, and they examine my laptop, they found my mem card had no problem on it, and the upgrade my BIOS to clean up the mess but, my mem reduce from 3.3 to only 3 gb. it all at the bios mem check, not on OS. they said this laptop didn't support 4 GB memory, that's wierd, on this notebook spec it said up to 4 GB. not 3 GB.
so where the going wrong? since I already run this laptop with 4 GB ram and recon it as 3.3 gb and had no problem with it, for a long times, but after had problem with the geforce faling down it can't recon 3.3 gb after they fix it with upgrade the bios. I think the problem goes to the motherboard, if I goes to old bios the geforce is falling down, if I stay on this bios it's only recon 3 gb ram mem. they can't explain why this happen.
and the bottom line, you guys with acer laptop and using 4 GB ram memory should check at the bios, how much it recon, it as 4 GB or 3.3 GB. since IMHO the OS never will be using 4 GB if the bios didn't recon it.
but there is some glicth if you look at the system information it recon 4 GB but, on bios it recon as 3 GB and the task manager recon it as 3 GB
It appears that the int15.sys driver was deleted from my computer (running Windows Vista) and now the machine is unable to boot up, even in safe mode. The Acer support folks say my only option is to pay someone to pull the information off of my hard drive, reformat (or recover, as they say), and then move everything back over. This will cost me about $100 and when the computer was only $400 and new two months ago, I don't want to spend more money on this thing.
From what I understand the int.sys driver is used as part of their eRecovery program but is very similar to a spyware or adware file. Therefore, when I was running Webroot's Window Washer program it deleted the driver. It seems like this may be an Acer specific driver and is not on all machines. Does anyone have any other suggestions besides the option Acer game me above?
A couple of ideas I have but would need more help on include:
1) If someone could put this driver on a jump drive or CD, could I tell the computer through command prompts to find the driver?
2) Would a Vista operating system CD be of any help to repair the driver? The support person said that I cannot get an OS CD from Acer, so is there someplace else I could find something like this?
3) I can reset the OS back to factory defaults, so I think the driver is still on there but the master boot record is corrupted. I do not know how to find the drive or update the master boot record.
During restore using Acer recovery disks for this Acer aspire 551, the recovery stalls at the final step where the wim file is written to the c: drive. It gives me an i/o error.
I suspect that the disk is functional because I have run the cmd.exe program from the x:drive and then run both scndsk.exe and scndsk.exe /F to fix any errors. No errors were detected.
However, any fix for this error that I have encountered suggests replacing the hardrive. This seems to be inappropriate, in this case.
I should also say that I have used dos commands to copy a file from the system32 directory to the c: drive successfully suggesting that there is no problem with writing to the disk.
Lastly, the cd rom hardware must be working or the disks would not be successfully read to the final stage. How this can be an i/o error eludes me.
I have an acer aspire 5610 and am having a problem. Everything was working perfect then randomly one day it went black. When i log in it still has the windows sign and everything but when i am in the desktop it is black there is no start bar or Icons or backround. Basically my GUI is gone. but i can still see my mouse pointer. I found that i can run programs by opening task manager and clicking file and start new task then browsing on what used to be my desktop for the internet icon. this works and everything works as it should. but i get an error message fo most all programs other than internet. i have attached screenshots of my desktop and of the error message that pops up. at this point i dont care about salvaging the stuff on my comp just want to reset it back to factory defaults. I have tried recoverry CDs that were made and it doesnt recognize them, i cant get to eRecovery due to the error message
