View 9 Replies View Related I have a Lenovo Thinkpad R61li 15.4" screen laptop. It's important that I keep this computer in service with the Win XP Pro Sp 3 because I have two vital programs which will not install on Win 8.
This computer has never had a "A: Floppy dirve" and only a CD drive but the installation options for making a Boot Disk/ Start-up Disk only consider a Floppy drive and not a CD drive. I need to make a Boot/Start-up disk on a CD so that if I get locked out of my computer AGAIN, I can boot back into Windows and then either fix the problems or restore from my current backups.
I have two new sets of Rescue Disks but they don't boot into the current OS so that I can access my backups. And if I can't access Safe Mode or do a repair, I'm stuck with the problem of having to reinstall an old version of XP, which is then not compatible with my backups because the backups have new Windows files from all the upgrades.
How can I make a Boot Disk/Start-up Disk like we used to use in the "old days" to start the initial system files and boot into Windows so that I can either make repairs to restore from my backups using current Winows files?
I have BIOS A12 in Inspiron 5010 and I don't see any option for disabling floppy in this BIOS.
Additional maybe can I upgrade something what allow me to disable floppy in BIOS ?
On an old Inspiron 8000 laptop, I have a CD-ROM drive that only fits in the floppy drive slot. Will the BIOS recognize a boot CD in this new location? I believe it's an 18000 motherboard.

I own a Dell 7520 and it has four 3.0 usb ports. However, I have discovered that one program I use does not support Intel 3.0 USB ports only USB 2.0 ports. So the only port that program will use is the Realtek USB card reader on the 7520 because that is a native 2.0 port.
According to a poster Innogen on the Intel support forum "The BIOS in my Dell Inspiron 7520 allows me to disable it so that the USB 3.0 ports revert to USB 2.0 functionality." but I can't find any such functionality in my BIOS (using version A06).

I tried uninstalling the Intel USB 3.0 drivers in WIn 7 Ultimate hoping that when I rebooted it would install USB 2.0 drivers but it simply reinstalled the USB 3.0 drivers.
I would really like to get this program working on my computer and while I am not happy about losing USB 3.0 functionality I can live with it until the vendor gets its act together and starts to support Intel USB 3.0.

I'm trying to find the proper driver I should be using for my laptop's graphics card for gaming performance. I have searched the web and googl'd and what not. I even went to Nvidia's website and to the download drivers section they have, but could not find any drivers for my graphics card.
My graphics card is a NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GS --MobileForce M6 Enhanced--
My operating system is Window's Vista 32-bit...
If you all could help me out it would be greatly appreciated. As well, if you need any more information or specifications just ask me and I will try to figure them out.
I'm using the 175.32 drivers for the 7900GTX on my Dell XPS M1710, but was told by a friend that there are better ones out there. On the nvidia website it only gives me Quadra NVS drivers, which I'm told would give worse performance than my current drivers. I use my laptop for gaming, not rendering.
Any other driver suggestions?
Well after succesfull XP installation (knock, knock) installed all the drivers except wifi ( cause it show when i turn it on but doesnt give me the options like in Vista ) and Memory Card Reader....

I have been running Windows 7 x 64 on my M1330 fitted with a Intel X-25M SSD for a few weeks now and all seems ok.
I did have problems with the Ricoh card reader driver but downloaded the latest 64bit Win7 driver for the XPS 1645 from the Dell site (manually installed rather than using the setup.exe installer).
All of the other drivers and control software I installed was Dell Vista x64 drivers specifically for the M1330. This is a summary of what I installed:

I have no idea how to do this. When I visit the Dell site and input my laptops info it recommends driver updates.
Most installed without a problem, however the DVD/CD drivers are a mystery. There are 11 recommended updates to the drivers but I cant figure out how to install them.
