View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Compaq CQ61-415SA and it seems to have stopped working. I turned it on and it was working fine, then I left it whilst doing something else for a couple of hours, it wasn't attached to the mains supply and when I went to use it the following happened.
When you turn it on the DVD drive tries to access and a fan comes on, that's as far as it goes. The power light stays on, the power lead light comes on and stays on, the two blinking lights blink once then pause then repeat. I have read that this is probably a hardware issue, is that right and what is the next step? I have disconnected the battery and held down the power switch for 20 seconds, but nothing happens.
Can anyone tell me how to get back the factory settings..
i have studio1537 model...i have some problem in my system to fix that i did formatted the system and deleted the recovery partition..

When you recieve a laptop from dell brand new you turn it on it goes through
welcome options and account creation after that you are welcomed to windows with all drivers installed and fully up to date.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Latitude D600 which i bought a few months ago second hand, It came with charger and thats it. No recovery disk or nothing. Laptop worked perfect and is a really good laptop. However I have so many viruses on my laptop, I have ran all types of AVG's, adware scanners, and much more. Its cleared alot of the viruses but still the laptop is not working properly.
I would like to restore the laptop back to its factory settings, i have backed up all my data on an external harddrive so its all good. I checked on google and it says something about Pressing F11 + Ctrl or something like that and it has a recovery procedure in the laptop allready. I dont think D600 has that feature and guessing i need a recovery disk. I have looked on ebay and cant find any, Im not even sure what type of recovery disk to get because i found a few, prices were ranging from £30-35 and i cant afford that as i am a student.
Is there a way where i can download some sort of recovery software for dell and burn it onto a disk or something, I looked on google but there is no detailed sources telling me about this,
how i can restore my dell latitude D600 back to its brand new settings without having to buy the recovery disk.

- I tried to do a "recover / estore" but there was nothing in the list - I already installed the laptop also installed many programs (e.g: office, winscp, irfanview etc.)
- I tried to go through the "help center" on the laptop and same issue - nothing, all empty
- I even try to reinstall from the disk I got with the laptop BUT it didn't found my hard disks... so basically, my question is how can I install the laptop from the included windows 8 cd that I got?
I just want to reinstall my laptop like it was as I got it from the factory

View 4 Replies View RelatedAbout a week ago, some serious problems happened to my TravelMate 3280 to the point that booting in safe mode doesn't even work. I couldn't access the eRecovery Management either and didn't any recovery DVD.
So finally, I reinstalled windows XP SP3 from scratch. As a result, the computer didn't have Acer eRecovery Management installed. I still prefer the original factory settings though. So I browsed around online forums and found a thread by Pupples at Install Factory default, eRecovery
I did what Pupples suggested, managed to restore the alt+F10 function, and entered the Acer Recovery Management during start-up. Then, I chose the Restore Factory Settings option.
The restoration process began smoothly until about 50-60% progress when an error message occured. It says:
Fails in creating or opening a file
C:preload.tag
D:preload.tag
X:preload.tag
After those messages, the computer booted again from the beginning and then entered a black screen with a writing on the top of the screen. The writing:
NTLDR is missing. Press any key to continue.
I pressed any key, but the same NTLDR message kept on re-appearing.
Does this have anything to do with the FAT32 or NTFSthing?

I have a Inspiron 5437 with windows 8.1. I'm unable to boot it past a blue box asking for the system password. I don't have that password. My wife and daughter had somehow set this password up. before this I could not get windows 8 to open without a password. I do not have either of the required passwords. View 4 Replies View RelatedI am having trouble restoring my computer to factory settings. Just to preface this, everytime i restart my HP Pavillion dv6 laptop, it freezes on the HP logo on the boot up. This freezing only occurs when i restart, if i manually shut it down and turn it on the boot up progresses normally.Â
So i have tried to restore my computer to factory settings by using the recover manager and the recovery manager requires the laptop to be restarted. However, the laptop freezes on the restart so i have to shut down the laptop manually and turn it back on. This interferes with the recovery manager and i get an error that recovery manager was not properly able to restore my computer.
I have also tried to press F10 on the boot up to enter restore mode. However, when i hit f10 my screen goes completely black. The fan and the laptop are running but the screen goes blank. How i can restore my laptop.Â
