where to locate the keyboard backlight setting for the Pavilion 15-p159na laptop. I want to turn the backlights on but cannot locate this setting anywhere.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI am pretty positive that my laptop does have a backlight. However, I didn't need it at the time and I shut it off. But now I can't turn it on. I originally remembered adjusting it through the power options and that there was a little slider to adjust the brightness of either the screen or the keyboard. I could have been wrong though, since I no longer see the second slider for the keyboard brightness. I have tried everything I could find to get the light to turn on. I used the mobility center but there is no keyboard option. I have tried the fn + spaacebar, fn +f5, and my keyboard does not have a specialized key to adjust the keyboard backlight either. How to turn on the backlight?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently Had my HP Pavilion G7 crash on me which ran windows 8 (OEM) I was unable to restore it. I decided to downgrade to windows vista and do a clean install due to the fact I connot locate my w8 install disk. The problem im having is my network,display adaptors and other devices arent working and showing a yellow triangle with an exclamation point and ive done some research and tried fixes like unistalling and reinstalling but it still not working.Here is what is showing up with the exclamation points in yellow

I feel like if i can get online and get windows to update some of these things will clear up and fix. Now i did have problems with realtek PCIe FE Family Controller but i went and found the driver for that.here are some system info:

I did call HP free support because my warranty was up and they told me it seemed like an software issue or corruption and they felt confident they could fix it but they wanted me to pay for tech support which i dont mind but it would be a monthly service charge which i dont need constant tech support this is the first time ive ran into this issue they also told me that the tech would have me enter some Commands in command prompt to resolve this.
I will be calling Dell tomorrow to get my keyboard replaced due to the Numlock light not working.
My current keyboard has not got a backlight would it be possible to get a replacement keyboard with a blacklight?
I recently had my laptop apart to put different thermal paste on the cpu, but now my backlighting isnt working for the keyboard. does that little ribbon cable control that? Its kinda hard to get it to stay attached. If not then is this a normal thing for these keyboard lights to go bad?

Anyway is there a way to keep the backlight for the keyboard on all the time? I seem to remember it staying on before I did a clean install last night
the keyboard backlight goes off after about 30 seconds of non-use of the keys. The trackpad movement doesn't keep it lit.
i can re-light by touching any key, but this presents two issues:
1.) the first keystroke is entered. (i guess i can use the shift key)
2.) more important, the screen brightness seems to react to ambient light, so the keyboard's light ends up making the screen pulsate.
I couldn't find a specific reference, although hard to believe. But then again, the humongous threads are hard to search effectively.
In own a Pavillion DV7 2070ED. I spilled wine over the keyboard...
My insurance will cover this so money isn't really the problem. So I was thinking about buying a backlight keyboard instead of the original black one (which works really annoying in lowlight conditions).
Now I found a thread about backlight keyboard but I'm unable to find out which backlight keyboard is compatible with my laptop. On the motherboard there is input for the keyboard-backlight. So thats not the problem.
The keyboard backlight used to work, but it no longer does. I have tried Fn+F6, Fn+Right Arrow, and going to C: Program Files/ Dell/ Quickset/ BacklightKB and none of these are correcting the solution.

In my case it is mostly the upper row of keys, but other individual keys have the same problem. As not all keys have this problem I assume it is not a design feature.
Is anyone else experiencing this same issue? I have done a search on the forum, but couldn't find anything related.
I tried to turn it on again by pressing Fn + right arrow key on my keyboard to turn it on but the lights on my touchpad light up as well as caps lock when I turn it on but not the rest.

View 5 Replies View RelatedAfter upgrading to Windows 8.1, my XPS 13 keyboard backlight remains on 100% of the time. i can turn it off with the function key on the keyboard, but after a restart the problem repeats. Also, I have not found away to get it to automatically turn off after the keyboard has not been touched for some time (which is how the backlight is supposed to work).
Is there any fix for this? I've already installed all of the Windows 8.1 drivers from your website.

I've owned my Y2P for the last 3 or 4 months now. Keyboard backlight always turned off/on with Fn Spacebar just fine... until today. Fn+Space just gets the keyboard backlight to flash off for a second, and then back on.
Also I checked and all of the other Fn keys work. Also the Caps Lock light doesn't come on either.
And if that's not all, My power indicator light is amber even when fully charged. (solid, not blinking)

I have tried every setting available on this laptop, from all set to default to trying multiple changes in all the settings. The volume is consistently low and has a very annoying reverb and echo effect, even with those settings turned off. I have only had it for a week, and I have been very pleased with everything else accept the audio. The reason for purchasing this model was for multi-media processing and so far I and becoming more disgusted daily with it. It is a Pavilion dv6 and it has the beat audio software.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI noticed last week that the back light option on my keyboard no longer functions.I know the Fn key works on the keyboard as I can perform other Fn+ tasks and I know that the right arrow key (which is the same combo key that controls back-lighting) also functions on it's own.
Aside from normal Windows 7 updates, the only changes to my laptop recently has been flashing to the A07 bios and the new power supply mailed out by Dell.Am I missing a software option somewhere that defaults my back-lighting to off? Or is it a mistake (or intention) of the A07 bios to disable this feature given the recent power supply throttle issues with this model laptop.
