HP Pavilion G6 OS/Software :: Plugged In But Not Charging?
Oct 13, 2014
I've noticed that my (roughly) 18 month old pavillion g6 running windows 8 has stopped charging it's battery, I noticed it yesterday and thought nothing of it but today I took the battery down to 92% yet it won't charge. The AC adapter light is flashing orange even when unplugged.
I have Pavilion G6 notebook. Some times when I charging, it says plugin and not charging. how can i solve this ?And I replaced laptop motherboard 3 days ago. I want to know if battery has issue, it will affect to damage to motherboard or not ? And HP battery check shows this. I tried solutions that show in window but not happen.
I have a Pavilion dv6-1050us and prior to updating the bios as recommended by HP my charger would show both in the taskbar as the battery was charging and it was plugged in as well as on the led on the front left of the notebook. Since the update of the bios the charging icon in the taskbar no longer shows and the led light that shows the battery is charging no longer lights up. I know there is power going to the battery because the battery shows 100% remaining and will only discharge after I unplug the power supply. Is there a way to restore the bios to the previous verion even though the bios was flashed by the program HP uses? My antivirus program will not do it's weekly scan when the system thinks it's running on battery power. I must manually start the scan myself.
I have had my Dell Inspiron 1525 for around two years. For the past month, when my power supply is plugged in, the battery does not charge. It has been stuck on 3% and will automatically shut down when unplugged.
I have seen that this is a very common problem, however, when hovering over the battery icon it says: plugged in, CHARGING, where as all of the other posts that I have seen say: plugged in, NOT charging.
I have tried taking the battery out and restarting but this did not work. I also drained my battery and tried to recharge but again, this did not work. My initial thought is that I may need a new battery but I just wanted to check first.
I have just encountered a problem with my Inspiron 7520 laptop. The laptop is plugged in and notes 'charging'. Problem is that it is not charging and battery has been at 0% for a week now.
Battery meter notes the battery is charging and that the battery is working normally. I have run the 'My Dell' systems test and it failed on the battery with error code WBT02-GX1...
I recently got the dreaded "Plugged in, not charging" message in vista of my Dell XPS 1530.My laptop is out of warranty .I tried all the methods suggested and flashed the bios to A09 from A12.I also checked the BIOS and it says
Battery Charge = 6% Charger = 90W
Also when I connect the charger the charging light would flash for 5 sec. and then go off.Due to this the battery charge has moved from 6% to 7%.
I cannot buy a new mbd worth $500 . Any other cure for this ????
My Dell XPS 13 Ultrabook is plugged in but will not charge. The battery is completely drained and the power will immediately shut off when the power cable is unplugged. The battery meter indicates "O% Available (plugged in, not charging)". Every time I restart it I am told to plug in a Dell charger with 45 watts or greater. Thinking my charger might have been the issue, I just purchased a Dell replacement charger, and it is still not recognizing it. I have seen on other posts that indicate a possible solution is to update the BIOS; however, when I download and try to run the latest BIOS, I am told that the battery needs to be at least 10% charged in order to update.
I have a dell xps m1530. Yesterday, suddenly a problem developed. The laptop charges for a few secs and then the battery icon says plugged in, not charging. I have tested the power supply and the adapter pin on the laptop motherboard its working fine. I purchased the laptop 4 months ago. i am using windows vista Ultimate with sp1.
i have my computer (win 7) set to high performance. I also keep it plugged it but it hasnt been charging my battery, its down to 35%. Does it have some sort of a cycle function where it waits until the battery is drained and then charges it back up? I dont want it to do this because when i need to use it on the go i would like a full battery.
I've got an HP Compaq nw8240 and when I move the mouse over the battery icon it says Plugged In, Not Charging. It only shows a 40% charge too, and if I unplug the AC adapter the battery will drain and then recharge back to 40% again.
I'm running the latest version of Windows 7 also.
I've also tried updating the BIOS but when I download the file from HP's support site it and run it all it does is restart my computer and nothing changes.
i am using dell inspiron 15R 5521.. its warranty has just expired on november 3,2014. And now i am facing this charging problem as whenever i connect my charging adapter(charger) to my laptop, it says 'PLUGGED IN BUT NOT CHARGING'. whether i just keep my laptop on charging for an hour or two, it still remains the same and not even a single percent of battery is charged.!! Whether there is some problem with my battery or charger!! i should buy a new battery or not??
i was having this wierd behavior of my laptop where battery woudnt charge above 6%, ive tried most of the "solutions" on the web, but none of them worked.
-Desinstalling Microsoft's ACPI-Compliant control method battery
-Doing a vista clean install
-Restarting/Removing/Plugging the battery from the laptop with the system running and shut down, and all sorts of combinations between.
-Trying different AC (from dell, some of my friends have got some dell systems, i tried a m1330 AC)
-Tried to find a battery calibrator, but was unsuccesful, and even tried to downgrade my BIOS, but couldnt because my battery wasnt charged above 10% (thats a requisite to flash the BIOS)
NONE OF THOSE WORKED.
So i called dell, they told me to go to the BIOS, tech guys told me that the problem could be figured out there by 2 ways, it'd either:
-Recognize the AC adapter (in due case, it was a battery problem) -Or it wouldnt recognize it (in which case, it would be a MoBo or a AC adapter problem.
Turned out it recognized the AC adapter, so next step was to send me a new battery, since i had a 6 cell battery (which the dell guy confirmed after i gave him the serial number of the battery) i expected to receive a 6 cell battery replacement, but no, lucky me i received a 9 CELL BATTERY INSTEAD, free within warranty period (system is only 7 months old) so yeah, im happy, and my battery is charging again.
Everything is fine, so i thought i would share this info for you guys.
One thing to get in consideration: The embedded battery health indicator might not indicate that the battery is healthy, since my faulty battery had 5/5 green lights when i tried to check the health but was still faulty (my new one has 5/5 health lights and works wonderful)
Mine is an Inspiron 14z, running window 7 ultimate. The last 2 days, my battery will only charge up to 70% then it just stay there although the icon shows "plugged in, charging".
I've tried a couple things:
-Unplug-plug
-Pull out the battery put it back on.
-Uninstall/ Install Microsoft ACPI-compliant control method battery
i have a dell inspiron 11- 3147 that i got yesterday i have plugged it in and it now says plugged in not charging notification on the battery bar and i have tried everything what should i do?
I purchased a Dell Inspiron 1525 in April 2008.About 1 month ago I noticed that my computer would automaticaly shut down when the power cord was removed, I hovered over the battery icon in the bottom right corner and it said 0% available plugged in, not charging.
I googled the phrase plugged in, not charging and realised lots of people were having the same problem.I have tried restarting and shutting down my computer (with and without battery and with and without power cord) removing and replacing my battery (while laptop is on and off) a replacement battery from Dell my sister's battery and power cord (she also has a 1525)in my laptop and get the message plugged in, not charging. My battery in her laptop will charge but my power cord in her laptop says plugged in, not charging removing the battery with the laptop on then restarting the laptop and replacing the battery uninstalling and reinstalling the Power Management Software switching between power plans flashing with current bios
All 3 batteries (hers, my original and my replacement) have adequate charge (50% or higher)I run with Windows Vista Home edition.I have been to the local Dell distributer and they tell me to call Dell. I have tried calling Dell but I keep getting put on hold for 30+ minutes.
I have spent two days reading forums & trying to follow suggestions. I have gotten a new battery (prior to finding out it might not be the problem), reconnected the power cord/adapter and did a bios update. Bios still says adapter is "unknown". Battery (new one) reads at 41% (& holding), the old one at 37%. Another way to charge the battery?
My year old XPS 13 Ultrabook's battery is not charging when plugged in. I measured the voltage of the power adaptor at the plug (the end that connects to the Ultrabook) and the voltage level seem fine at 19.4V
However when I plug and unplug the power when the Ultrabook is off, the LED turns on and off accordingly.
My Ultrabook is L321x, running Windows 7, and has BIOS A7 installed.
how to fix dell inspiron 15r battery plugged in not charging problem? i bought the laptop from dell in november last year and the charger that came with the product got wet and stop working i went to a computer store here and bought a 65w charger and after about a month using it start saying that its not the same exact charger that came with the laptop but its an original dell 65w charger it even say i should get a 65w or higher and it still dont work it works when it feels like
I have a Dell Vostro 3700 which has developed a fault, it will not charge the battery, and windows just shows as "plugged in, not charging.".I have done my research the past few days so I will clear up the following;I have updated BIOS and installed the Dell Battery Manager in order to activate charging as I know it can be disabled.
I have been in the BIOS menu in order to search for an option to supposedly disable/enable battery charging but there is no option in there (unless I missed it, but I have checked several times).BIOS states "adapter type" to be "unknown" and when laptop is first turned on I get a warning to say the adapter cannot be determined and the battery may not charge (which I am assuming leads to the problem).
I have another dell laptop (Studio 1735) that uses the exact same adapter type. Both adapters work and charge in my 1735, both don't work in the Vostro (which I assume eliminates the adapter as a suspect).I have purchased 2 new batteries off eBay, one genuine that is supposedly new although slightly used, and another brand new rip off, all 3 of the batteries will not charge (which I assume eliminates the batteries as suspect)
I just had a battery replacement for my Dell XPS 15z.. Prior to the installation of the new battery, the machine could only work with the AC adapter plugged in, raising the suspicion that the battery was defective. However, now that a new battery has been installed, the battery does not charge even whiles the AC adapter is stilled plugged in.
My battery light is flashing red and the battery icon says that my charger is plugged in but not charging. So when I unplug my laptop it automatically dies. It's been like this for a couple of days and i've tried to just see if it'll go away but nothings happening.
This morning i had a sudden blue screen of death. Following the restart, i got a message prompt along the lines of:
pxe-m0f exiting.... selecting proper boot device.
I changed the hard drive to boot first instead of the disk drive but nothing else happened.
I read that it was a hard drive problem when i searched the web. I took apart my laptop and cleaned all the dust off the insides and made sure they were clean. Put it back together and it was good as new. It turned on like normal. I was very much relieved, until I noticed the laptop wasn't charging. I've tried the flea reset, battery drain etc but I can't get the battery/laptop to charge. The laptop won't even charge on with the AC and no battery. My laptop has been fine for the last year or so and now 1 BSOD has ruined it.
