View 7 RepliesI have a HP Pavilion dv6t-6c00. I upgraded to windows 7 ultimate before which I had windows 7 home premium on which I could use the webcam but now it shows an error when I open cyberlink youcam "Warning, No webcam detected. Try plugging in a webcam into your computer now. If you are using an integrated camera, make sure that it is turned on". I've watched and tried all the steps except for the last step as the cyberlink youcam software doesn't allow me to click the configure settings. What should I do to turn on my webcam?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've had my laptop for about one and half years now, and so far the webcam has been working fine. Today though, it stopped functioning. At first I thought it was the microphone and webcam, but I tested the microphone and that's working. The only thing not working is the webcam.Â
Â
I tried restarting. I tried looking up the driver and making sure it was all set. At that point, I realized I didn't even have a webcam installed (which is what my programs were telling me but I didn't believe).Â
I then searched on this forum to find a solution and another member posted that removing the bevel and sticking the little plug back in should work. I tried it and it didn't. (I'm also concerned that I did this with my computer on... Have I done any serious damage?)

I just received a dual band Time Warner Cable router that I want to wirelessly connect with my HP Pavilion dv6t-6c00 CTO Quad Edition Entertainment Notebook PC that I had for 2 and a half years now. The laptop has no trouble seeing and connecting to the 2.4 Ghz band, but does not even see 5Ghz. I tried playing around with the router settings, but had no luck this far. I believe that it should be able to see it, but I'm not 100% sure. Whether I need to update my drivers or anything for it to be able to connect to 5G? Or perhaps purchase a new network card or adapter? Or am I out of luck connecting it to 5G?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have an HP Pavilion dv6t-7000 Â equpped with the Ralink RT5390R Wi-Fi Adapter. Â For the life of me, I cannot get it to connect to my home network when set up as 802.11n. Â Other devices do connect. If I change my router to 802.11g, but change no other settings at all, the HP doe connect. But if I flip the router back to 802.11n, the HP sees the network and correctly identifies it as an 802.11n network, but will not connect. The Router is a D-Link DIR-615 (N300 2.4ghz).

Any whitelist of WLAN card that I can use to upgrade my laptop? Is there a list of supported WLAN adapters?Â
I reinstalled win 7 on my hp g7 laptop and now I can't connect to my router. I'm getting message to install network adapter. When I open network and sharing box and click on change adapter settings, the screen is completely blank. How do I fix this problem if I can"t  connect to the internet??Â

View 1 Replies View RelatedI don't know what it is with this laptop and messengers. But NOTHING wants to work. Heres a list of problems
1) AIM wont open (fixed, I had to change port number) So now AIM works on iChat and Adium
2) MSN wont open on the actual application (Mac Messenger) I want to webcam chat with people, and it just WONT start. It starts on adium since I checked the box to use http or something, but I can't webchat on adium.
When I try to open messenger, it says I am not connected to internet, which I clearly am...
I checked my routers firewall. And I am not too sure how to change things on the macs firewall. I just want to use messengers..
if I could get Dell Webcam Center for my HP DV5Z-1000. If it is possible, I would like to know how.

View 1 Replies View RelatedA few days before I was going to shipping my Studio 15 off. I looked in the box and low and behold I found the Dell Webcam Center disk that I originally thought that Dell had forgotten to include.
Upon installation I found that the specific version of Dell WC that came with my Studio 15 is not the same one that you find at the downloads center on support.dell.com.
I could never get the downloaded Dell WC to work, even after numerous chats with technical support. No matter how many times I contacted Dell about this, they claimed there is only one version of Dell Webcam Center. Clearly that isn't true .....
I'm torn between the G62 and the dv6t. Currently I see one main benefit to each:
G62 - Better Processor (I'd go with the i5-540)
dv6t - Better Battery (I'd go with the extended 6-cell)
Other then those two differences, I'd stick with 4GB of RAM and a 512MB video card. Are there any other differences between the two? I do like the looks of the G62...does it really compare (feel wise) with the Envy? Is there any reason to splurge for the Envy? I'll be using this as my everyday home computer...surfing the web, some programming, a lot of office work, a little graphic design.
I saw the dv6t in black on HP's site and I'm seriously considering it over the HDX, but why can't I find a single picture of it in black? The only one's I've seen are silver. Is it just super new?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI just ordered one and it should be here soon. I'm not using this laptop as a gaming machine because I have Xbox360 already doing the job for me. With that being said, I still don't want a crappy laptop that isn't stable (As far as graphics). I'm going to be using it for basically word processing, viewing movies, music editing, light video editing, and web browsing of course. I just need to know if it's a good machine, if anyone with the laptop care to let me know their experience, that was would be dope. If it's not any good I could just send it back for an exchange or get my money back. I paid around 625.00, that was with my student discount, but it came up to 700.00 before that.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI found two similar models of HP DV6t laptop at Newegg.
HP Pavilion DV6-1362NR
[url]
HP Pavilion DV6-2144NR
[url]
Both are the same price however they differ a bit in specs.
The differences between are:
1. Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 2.2GHz (1362NR) VS AMD Turion II M520 2.3GHz (2144NR)
2. 4GB DDR3 (1362NR) VS 4GB DDR2 (2144NR)
Which laptop is in a way "better"? or if you can't compare these two in that way what are the pros and cons between the two differences?
I've been thinking of getting this laptop and I was just wondering if I configured it with these specs, how well would it run a game like left 4 dead?
Specs:
Intel Core 2 Duo Processor P8600 2.4 GHz
4 GB DDR2 Ram
1GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650
7,200 RPM Hard Drive

This model has customized & quick-ship option.
I notice the customized version is fitted with Geforce GT 320m - For i7 processor (no other option), while the Quick-Ship model is fitted with GT230m WITH Physx.
I've heard about Physx before, and I always think it is another component bought separately (at least for PC desktop 1-2 years ago). So, is this Physx processor always present with all Geforce GT230m & 320m series, or does HP actually fit this additional processor as a bonus ?
I look on NVidia's technical specs for 320m & 230m, and Nvidia specifies that they are both Physx-ready. What does "READY" mean here ? Ready to be fitted with an optional Physx feature, or does it mean both have already integrated the Physx into 320m & 230m ? ...or do I misunderstand something ?
I got an DV6t-Quad and I did the clean installation of window 7 Ultimate. Now, When I press the Volume Down/Up the Sound Sensitive is not working and the Sound indicated Led does not work through the sound itself still effect.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIm looking at getting a new laptop soon, for moderate gaming and web design. My price range is around $1000, so I really like the dv6t and the envy14, so...
Which would you guys get if you were me?
Which will perform better at the $1000 price mark?
Which is sleeker?
I just recieved my dv6t today and decided for some unknown reason that I needed Vista Ultimate. Well in doing so I did not make a copy of the recovery disk.
After I installed all the drivers and applications the verisoft program doesn't have the option to register a fingerprint all it lets me do is passwords.
Does anyone know of another program that would work with the fingerprint reader I have?
I have had my new DV6T for about an hour and am loving it.
Specs:
-4GB RAM
-Intel Core Duo 2 - 2.26Ghz
-ATI Radeon 4530 graphics card
-Windows 7
A few questions...
Other than Norton, Microsoft Works, and the 60 day Microsoft Office trial, what else should I un-install?
How do I set a system restore point?
I want to make a backup of my system now and put it in a blank disc. What disc should I buy to do this (DVD-R)?
Is there any way I can test my CPU and Graphics card to make sure everything is at optimum performance?
Buying a new laptop soon... choices are a HDX16t (P8400 and Nvidia 9600M GT 512MB) or a DV6t (T6400 and ATi HD 4650 1GB). I'm just looking to play Everquest 2, and even though it's a 2004 release, it's pretty intensive. So I'm wondering if I should deal with the slower CPU and slightly better GPU or vice versa?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just received my new dv6t quad edition. The computer is great except one thing that's driving me crazy is the keyboard. Since there is a numeric keypad on the right side, the keyboard and touchpad are not centered to the screen. I find this to feel very awkward.
Anyone else have this issue with the machine? I know the addition of the keypad is not new to this model.
I will be receiving a dv6t Quad edition soon. I am planning to replace the original HDD with a SSD. The original HDD will go in a external eSATA enclosure.
Questions/comments:
- Are there any step-by-step guides out there for replacing the HDD?
- I have read in forums that doing a fresh install on SSD is better than cloning your existing drive. Is that correct?
- In case of any issues with the installation on SSD, I can always put the original drive back in.
- If I dont delete the MBR on the original drive, will it create an issue in the external enclosure along with the new MBR on the SSD?
I ordered a dv6 quick-ship model from HP for christmas and I was instantly in love with it. The feature I like the most is the glossy finish on the surface including the KEYBOARD... however, there is this hard drive problem that makes a clicking sound everytime the HDD activity light blinks. So I decided to order another dv6 but this time I ordered a dv6 quad edition customized. Upon receiving the quad edition, opened it, and I was immediately disappointed. Reason is that everything on the suface is the same EXCEPT THE KEYBOARD! the quad edition keyboard is the NON-glossy one and it feels much more rough and cheap and not fit into the overall glossy appearance of the laptop. so I called the HP support and I was told that "All customized dv6 quad got the same non-glossy keyboard I got" The non-glossy one appears and feels much cheaper. I have both laptop side by side and you can totally tell the difference. Not to mention for the battery charger for the customized one I received is much more bulky( twice as big) and the box that came with the laptop is with no HP art markings because it was shipped straight from China internationally.
Pictures: dv6t customized quad edition with non-glossy keyboard: then compare this to the dv6 quick shipped with nice smooth glossy keyboard:
Games I would hope to play on it would be like Modern Warfare 2.
Is the system itself a good buy with what it offers and what is the average shelf life this type of laptop can give me before I would have to look at replacing?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI just took the wraps off my new DV6t. I live in Japan so I had to wait two weeks while my parents spent $150 dollars to ship it to me, but it finally got here and...
There's artifacting everywhere. Little pink boxes appear even when I'm mousing over things in the file explorer, and when I opened up the catalyst control center (and it shows the two 3D scenes for comparison) there was artifacting like crazy!
I tried uninstalling the drivers, but the pink boxes still continue to spawn in random places on the screen. Then I went to ATI's website but apparently they don't hand out drivers for the mobility 4650... so I had to go to HP's website and get the same stuff I had before. Nothing solved...
