I was setup windows 8.1 pro 64-bit in my lenovo laptop B590 Model 20206 but when run windows camera app and the skype i get this message "To get started, connect a camera"... what should i do ?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have the hp stream 13 for couple days now. The first time I skyped the webcam worked. Now when I try to access the camera it says "to get started connect camera". And so when I try to skype there is no video icon. Under imaging devices I see "hd truevison hd" and when I click on it it says it's not connected. So annoying and frustrating because I just bought this laptop.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've just bought this laptop, and it came with windows 8 preinstalled, and I'm trying to install Windows 7 on it.
I have a bootable usb, which I've used many times to install Windows on my other laptops, but the B590 just wont do it. I feel like I've tried everything. I changed the boot priority order in BIOS with USB HDD as number 1 but it still just boots into windows 8.
I've tried removing everything but USB devices from the boot order, and now I get this boot menu: [URL]
Which is exactly what I want to boot from, but when I press enter to boot from the USB device, nothing happens.
The USB device IS bootable with a primary partition. I've used these steps to make it bootable in DISKPART [URL]
After having no luck on the B590, I tried booting on the USB on a different computer, and it works perfectly well. Starts installing windows 7. So it seems like the problem is not with my usb device.
I even tried restoring the USB drive and using Lenovo Bootable Generator application to make the usb bootable, with the same result.
I bought a Lenovo B590 model a couple of months ago, and since yesterday when the computer turn on, show me the message "Keyboard not Detected". Obviously when starting the keyboard and touchpad do not work.The machine has not suffered any blow or fall or anything like that.
View 5 Replies View RelatedYesterday, I bought a Kingston 4GB PC3-12800 CL11 204 Pin SODIMM RAM chip from my local hardware store because I wanted to upgrade my Lenovo B590 memory, which - by default - has 4GB of DDR3 RAM installed. I had already double checked if the memory was compatible with my B590 by calling Lenovo Support and searching the web (yielding this post, for example). Both sources confirmed upgrading should not be a problem if I did not exceed the 8GB limit. However, after I had hooked up the RAM, I found that it was not being recognized by both my OS (Windows) and my BIOS. They are still indicating that I only have the factory 4096MB installed.How can I make my system utilize this RAM upgrade?
When I was determining which RAM to buy, I did also check what kind of memory was already installed in my B590 by the manufacturer. I unscrewed my notebook and found one memory chip, brand Hynix, of which I assumed it was one chip of 4GB. However, results for looking up its serial on the web show that it is actually one 2GB DDR3 SDRAM chip. I checked my hardware but could not see any other chip (although I am 100% sure my system has 4 GB RAM installed by the manufacturer).
My fan is not working properly, in fact it only runs for few seconds at booting and then never again.
My cores get about 70°C and higher (with only Skype and Chrome on), so I'm forced to use external fan to by able to work.
I found this problem when I was working and then my notebook suddenly shutdown a I wasn't able to turn it on for a while. Then I grabed it and I almost get 3rd degree burns.
Two noisy external fans, that I have to use to keep core under 70°....
The touchpad shows only as a mouse, and scrolling & the fn+f6 option do not worked, I had it on win 8&7, worked on neither of them. I couldn't find a dedicated driver for it, and I couldn't find a post that states whether this touch pad should have those options working or it was never intended to.
View 6 Replies View RelatedFor about week I have problems with sound device, so that no sound is played. When I start my notebook it works few minutes, then it stops and when I wanna to test it it gives me error message:
"The device is being used by another application. Please close any devices that are playing audio to this device and then try again.", even when I have no programs running.
I tried all solutions that I found. Disable device, enable divace, restart Windows audio service, Troubleshooter. One think that work (sometimes) is to restart my notebook. But constantly restarting isn't quite the solution I'm satisfied with.
I am using a B590 booting from a mSATA SSD (Mushkin). I am booting in to Ubuntu 12.04. Everything worked fine for half a year. Last week booting from the SSD did not work any more. Now the mSATA SSD is not visible in my BIOS, under Windows 7 oder several Linux distros. I cannot access the mSATA SSD at all. I am especially surprised that my configuration quit working from one day to the other without any action from my side. The usual set of questions:
Is there something trivial that I do wrong?Is there a way to check the sanity of the drive and/or my notebook?Is there any way to revert to the previous extremely satisfying state?My BIOS-version is 1.18 (06/27/2013).
So, I have B590 Lenovo Notebook with Windows 8 and the Wi-Fi doesn't work well.
When I try connect at home, my Wi-fi works fine. Not problem. But when I try another one - e.g. In School or somewhere in the city, the others wi-fis don't work. Windows 8 tell me something like "It's not possible to connect" .....
I've bought a B590 and installed a Win 7 64bit. I have installed all available drivers from the support page and have the following issue:
Device Manager:
I see 2 graphics devices
Intel HD Graphics
NVIDIA GeForce GT 720M
The discrete card is disabled with error code 43 and has an exclamation mark near it [URL] .... Moreover, if i start the NVidia Control Panel it gives me an error with text: "current display is not connected to nvidia GP" GeFoerce Experience is not starting with a back-end error [URL] ...
Now here are the ways i tried to use but it did not work:
1. Enable high performance and update with manually downloaded nvidia driver
2. Do the same with HDMI cble connected to a plasma
3. Disable enable the device (screen goes black, than to normal and everything stays the same)
4. Format c: reinstall Win8.1 64 and install all drivers - same thing
5. Format c: reinstall Win7 64 and install the graphics drivers after everything else (h1d9d9.exe h2d903.exe)
6. Update GT720M drivers from device manager (driver is up to date)
7. Run a high-performance 3D game (War Thunder) - it uses Intel HD
What else can i do? I saw people with switchable graphics use some kind of application to specify the game-apps that should use a discrete videocard. I don't have such an app to specify my games.
two days ago my Lenovo Twist S230u laptop started to freeze a lot, especially when I tried to multitask (like switching to a separate window). It probably took ten minutes each time for the computer to unfreeze and continue.
the in-built 'Lenovo Solutin Center' software ran an automatic diagnostic test, and said that the laptop failed the SMART short-self test (unfortunately I forgot to copy the error code). I didn't think much of it at the time since my laptop is only 5-months old. Just in case, I performed a disk cleanup, disk defrag and made sure everything is up to date. This was when the laptop began to freeze quite a lot. In desperation (and stupidity), I typed the chkdsk /r command in command prompt and asked it to run at reboot. Apparently the SMART short self test is a physical problem rather than a software problem, so obviously chkdsk won't work.
chkdsk ran for about two days now which is clearly too long for a 500gb HDD laptop. I've only used about half of this space too. I forced a shut down and now I cannot access Windows 8.1 through the boot menu (it just hangs on a black screen). Loading a rebootable USB recovery drive is not doing anything too.
I previously sought support on the Microsoft Answers website. They said that my 'hard disk is failing' and I will need to have my HDD replaced.I just want a second opinion here. Is warranty valid under this circumstance? From what I remember, 'Lenovo Solution Center' said I still had a few hundred days of warranty left on the machine.
Faced with the problem. No sound after the laptop. When you try to check the sound device, a window pops up "the device is already in use by another application." But no program is not running. After rebooting the laptop sound occurs. Drivers are all set.

UEFI boot mode, not Legacy.Drivers for sound downloaded from realtek.com.tw. With standard windows drivers sound is always there. Tried the previous version of the drivers - ineffectually. Could it be that the problem is due to the UEFI boot mode? I do not want to reinstall the OS mode Legacy just to check it out.
I just bought a B590, model 20208, with, i3-3110m, 500GB HDD, GeForce 720M.I installed Win 7 64bits, but in Device Manager, before installing all the drivers appeared Other Devices an Unknown Device with thise details: code 28, Device type: Other devices; Location: on Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Embedded Controllert . After installing drivers, the problem persists.Another problem was with PCI express but resolved with Intel Management Engine Interface drivers.Other problem resolved was with the GeForce 720 M videocard; wasn't recognized but resolved with the last driver from GeForce site. the last problem remained it's The Unknown Devices.

I go to EasyCapture to see if that works, and then settings, and the only option I have for which camera is UScreenCapture, or None. Do I just need to update the driver, or is something actually wrong?

I have installed all the latest drivers, etc. and taken note of the various documents about Windows 8 upgrade/install, but cannot make use of the integrated camera?!
The driver is listed under the device manager:
Imagine Devices -> Integrated Camera (Ricoh 1.0.0.19) - BTW I tried the beta one to see if that worked, and it made no difference to I rolled back to the proper release again.
The docs I have read said NOT to install the Communications Utility, and at this point in time there is not a Windows 8 listed compatible version of that. I did give it a try when the camera did not work, but although there were no errors, etc. it didn't work either ...
Skype/messenger/windows 8 camera seem to know it's there, but cannot make use of it (I get the placeholder image).
Under Control Panel->Hardware and Sound, there is no appropriate entry for me to toggle/configure.

Non of driver updater find the built-in camera, same with Deviace Manager. Lenovo System Update dont download any camera related software. I understand that somekind of driver need to be installed to be able to turn on the camer. But non i found activate it.
From what I read it should be in Lenovo Settings with Audio settings, but sadly nothing there.
When I start the build in app "camera" from Windows, it tells me there is no atached camera.
Those are the Lenovo x220 related installed application that showed up in Add/Remove Software.
Sadly the only camera driver from Lenovo page which is: Integrated Camera Driver for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit), Vista (32-bit, 64-bit), XP - ThinkPad , doesn't work.
I've been looking for a way to activate and capture and image from the integrated camera from the command line. Anyway to do that? I have a W530 with 64-bit Windows 7.

When I go to 'My Computer' and choose the 'Integrated Webcam' option and take a picture, the resolution is 352x288.
My new W540 (11/10/2014) Lenovo Solution Center under the Check-up tab alerts me that the FaceTime HD Camera (Display) Driver is Not Installed. Such as it is, the camera, a 720P HD, works just fine. A search of resources does not uncover any comment or Driver on this issue. So, since there is no problem as near as I can determine, should I just ignore the lack of Driver issue, and if so, what is the procedure to stop the Solution Center from alerting me to this error? But if on the other hand I should install the Driver, where is that to be found?

I'm using the W540 in the Ultra Dock with video on a second monitor, an Apple monitor, using a Thunderbolt cable. There is no Thunderbolt port in the Dock, so I use the W540 port which surprised me that it works.
FWIW, it is taking me a lot of time learning the location of programs and utilities having moved from my old W510 Win 7(64) setup to the W540 Win(64) 8.1 setup.

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad x201 laptop and I cannot get the integrated camera to turn on independent from Skype. It definitely works, I have used it several times with Skype, but I can't figure out how to turn it on outside of Skype. I have tried the Fn+Esc and the Fn+F6 things, and quite frankly I'm not even sure if it applies to x201 laptops, but its definitely not working for mine. My laptop is refurbished and i just got it recently.

To my surprise, i don't see a link for camera driver on it for windows 7. I tried to access the camera using yahoo messenger or skype but it did not detect it. is there something wrong with my unit? or the model doesn't come with a camera itself?
Applied 7CCN35WW over the 34 firmware. Veriface stopped working, says there's no camera present even though camera is present in Device manager. Skype is not working either, says camera is used by another process even after a fresh restart.

I have some Bose bluetooth speakers I'd like to connect, but everytime I do so something goes wrong:the connection takes extremely longthe pc settings tell me there is a driver issue and the speakers do not connect at all my browser (google chrome) crashes/freezes and only unfreezes when I turn off Bluetoothafter a few minutes, the sound coming from the speakers is 'chopped up' like a bad phone connectionI've searched everywhere for a solution, but have not had any success so far. The device I believe causing the problem is Qualcomm Atheros AR3012 Bluetooth 4.0 + HS, for which I think I don't have a proper driver installed, but the system itself says it's the most recent one when I let it search for updates automatically. I can't find a more recent one myself as well.

Therefore, I can't use my Skype video call function. When I had the factory installed OS, Skype video call worked perfectly.
I have been all over the Internet trying to find software - YouCam, Quickplay, SP37849, SP46565, SP38361 and SP 45866 - all to no avail. None of the software would install, except Quickplay (SP38361).
In the Device Manager, under Imaging Devices, there is no webcam driver listed, only my HP 6700 All-in-One printer/scanner. Is there a possibility that only one imaging device can be installed at one time?

Yesterday everything was working fine, I turned off the laptop, went out, turned it on in the morning and bam, no internet. I reinstalled drivers, then reinstalled the system and nothing changed. It certainly isn't router's fault, since other devices can connect to the Wi-Fi
I solved it, somehow wireless network card got turned off and I just figured out Fn+F5 prompts a window where I could turn it back on.
