I bought a Lenovo B590 model a couple of months ago, and since yesterday when the computer turn on, show me the message "Keyboard not Detected". Obviously when starting the keyboard and touchpad do not work.The machine has not suffered any blow or fall or anything like that.
View 5 RepliesYesterday, I bought a Kingston 4GB PC3-12800 CL11 204 Pin SODIMM RAM chip from my local hardware store because I wanted to upgrade my Lenovo B590 memory, which - by default - has 4GB of DDR3 RAM installed. I had already double checked if the memory was compatible with my B590 by calling Lenovo Support and searching the web (yielding this post, for example). Both sources confirmed upgrading should not be a problem if I did not exceed the 8GB limit. However, after I had hooked up the RAM, I found that it was not being recognized by both my OS (Windows) and my BIOS. They are still indicating that I only have the factory 4096MB installed.How can I make my system utilize this RAM upgrade?
When I was determining which RAM to buy, I did also check what kind of memory was already installed in my B590 by the manufacturer. I unscrewed my notebook and found one memory chip, brand Hynix, of which I assumed it was one chip of 4GB. However, results for looking up its serial on the web show that it is actually one 2GB DDR3 SDRAM chip. I checked my hardware but could not see any other chip (although I am 100% sure my system has 4 GB RAM installed by the manufacturer).
I've just bought this laptop, and it came with windows 8 preinstalled, and I'm trying to install Windows 7 on it.
I have a bootable usb, which I've used many times to install Windows on my other laptops, but the B590 just wont do it. I feel like I've tried everything. I changed the boot priority order in BIOS with USB HDD as number 1 but it still just boots into windows 8.
I've tried removing everything but USB devices from the boot order, and now I get this boot menu: [URL]
Which is exactly what I want to boot from, but when I press enter to boot from the USB device, nothing happens.
The USB device IS bootable with a primary partition. I've used these steps to make it bootable in DISKPART [URL]
After having no luck on the B590, I tried booting on the USB on a different computer, and it works perfectly well. Starts installing windows 7. So it seems like the problem is not with my usb device.
I even tried restoring the USB drive and using Lenovo Bootable Generator application to make the usb bootable, with the same result.
My fan is not working properly, in fact it only runs for few seconds at booting and then never again.
My cores get about 70°C and higher (with only Skype and Chrome on), so I'm forced to use external fan to by able to work.
I found this problem when I was working and then my notebook suddenly shutdown a I wasn't able to turn it on for a while. Then I grabed it and I almost get 3rd degree burns.
Two noisy external fans, that I have to use to keep core under 70°....
The touchpad shows only as a mouse, and scrolling & the fn+f6 option do not worked, I had it on win 8&7, worked on neither of them. I couldn't find a dedicated driver for it, and I couldn't find a post that states whether this touch pad should have those options working or it was never intended to.
View 6 Replies View RelatedFor about week I have problems with sound device, so that no sound is played. When I start my notebook it works few minutes, then it stops and when I wanna to test it it gives me error message:
"The device is being used by another application. Please close any devices that are playing audio to this device and then try again.", even when I have no programs running.
I tried all solutions that I found. Disable device, enable divace, restart Windows audio service, Troubleshooter. One think that work (sometimes) is to restart my notebook. But constantly restarting isn't quite the solution I'm satisfied with.
I am using a B590 booting from a mSATA SSD (Mushkin). I am booting in to Ubuntu 12.04. Everything worked fine for half a year. Last week booting from the SSD did not work any more. Now the mSATA SSD is not visible in my BIOS, under Windows 7 oder several Linux distros. I cannot access the mSATA SSD at all. I am especially surprised that my configuration quit working from one day to the other without any action from my side. The usual set of questions:
Is there something trivial that I do wrong?Is there a way to check the sanity of the drive and/or my notebook?Is there any way to revert to the previous extremely satisfying state?My BIOS-version is 1.18 (06/27/2013).

When I try connect at home, my Wi-fi works fine. Not problem. But when I try another one - e.g. In School or somewhere in the city, the others wi-fis don't work. Windows 8 tell me something like "It's not possible to connect" .....
I've bought a B590 and installed a Win 7 64bit. I have installed all available drivers from the support page and have the following issue:
Device Manager:
I see 2 graphics devices
Intel HD Graphics
NVIDIA GeForce GT 720M
The discrete card is disabled with error code 43 and has an exclamation mark near it [URL] .... Moreover, if i start the NVidia Control Panel it gives me an error with text: "current display is not connected to nvidia GP" GeFoerce Experience is not starting with a back-end error [URL] ...
Now here are the ways i tried to use but it did not work:
1. Enable high performance and update with manually downloaded nvidia driver
2. Do the same with HDMI cble connected to a plasma
3. Disable enable the device (screen goes black, than to normal and everything stays the same)
4. Format c: reinstall Win8.1 64 and install all drivers - same thing
5. Format c: reinstall Win7 64 and install the graphics drivers after everything else (h1d9d9.exe h2d903.exe)
6. Update GT720M drivers from device manager (driver is up to date)
7. Run a high-performance 3D game (War Thunder) - it uses Intel HD
What else can i do? I saw people with switchable graphics use some kind of application to specify the game-apps that should use a discrete videocard. I don't have such an app to specify my games.
I went into my webcam this morning and the only thing that came up on the screen was a picture of a camara crossed out? I am not sure why this is doing it...
View 9 Replies View RelatedFaced with the problem. No sound after the laptop. When you try to check the sound device, a window pops up "the device is already in use by another application." But no program is not running. After rebooting the laptop sound occurs. Drivers are all set.

UEFI boot mode, not Legacy.Drivers for sound downloaded from realtek.com.tw. With standard windows drivers sound is always there. Tried the previous version of the drivers - ineffectually. Could it be that the problem is due to the UEFI boot mode? I do not want to reinstall the OS mode Legacy just to check it out.
I just bought a B590, model 20208, with, i3-3110m, 500GB HDD, GeForce 720M.I installed Win 7 64bits, but in Device Manager, before installing all the drivers appeared Other Devices an Unknown Device with thise details: code 28, Device type: Other devices; Location: on Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Embedded Controllert . After installing drivers, the problem persists.Another problem was with PCI express but resolved with Intel Management Engine Interface drivers.Other problem resolved was with the GeForce 720 M videocard; wasn't recognized but resolved with the last driver from GeForce site. the last problem remained it's The Unknown Devices.

View 5 Replies View RelatedLong story short, the battery likes to play games as to when it is or isn't detected. If I plug it in to the charger before booting it tends to recognize the battery, but frequently when simply turning on the G505s it'll just not detect the battery (I tried seeing if it was detected in the Lenovo Solution Center in addition to the battery meter; it wasn't). It runs on battery, but it's incredibly irritating to have no info as to how much of a charge is left.
I just got this laptop yesterday, and I upgraded the BIOS firmware, and am currently running Windows 8.1.
I've been using my Y580 for a little more than a year now and I absolutely loved it. Recently though, my graphics card has completely dissappeared. This happened after playing an hour or so of Titanfall (which ran really well) and attempting to update my nvidia drivers. I was not able to update the installation using both Geforce Experience and manually. While downloading manually, I noticed that their website was not able to detect my graphics card. I then checked the device manager and all I could see was the Intel card. Later on, the Nvidia control panel was also unable to detect the card.
I decided to uninstall all my drivers and start again with the one on the Lenovo driver page. I was able to successfully download the driver and it made the 660 appear in the device manager. This did not solve my troubles because when I tried to play a game, the 660 dissapeared again. I then looked through the BIOS and I was also unable to find the card. Frustrated, I did a system restore to before I first downloaded the driver. Once again, the 660M briefly appeared again but dissapeared when I tried to game or update it.
The battery icon in Windows 8 just started saying "No battery is detected".
The system seems to run fine on the battery. I tried rebooting, but that did not change anything.
When plugged in, the icon shows that it is plugged in, but still says "No battery is detected".
It does not look like I can remove and replace the battery without taking things apart.
I have a new X240. It has a sim card slot on the right side. I am running Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit.
it seems that the x240 does not recognize wwan hardware. I can't find it in the device manager. It doesn't connect to any network when I insert a SIM card. Also, no unknown devices show up in the device manager. I installed the following drivers in an attempt to fix the issue:
-Ericsson N5321gw wireless WAN
-Sierra Wireless 7355 - Gobi 5000
... but no success.
I also tried running commands in cmd window to check the status of the wwan:
-netsh mbn sh int
-netsh mbn sh cap int=*
... but I always get the same message: "Mobile Broadband Service (wwansvc) is not running"
I am starting to think that having a sim card slot does not neccessarily mean that the x240 is Mobile Broadband capable.
I have a X1 Carbon with Sierra EM7345 WWAN modem. It is all installed perfectly - drivers etc. But id does not recognize the SIM card. I have googled a bit and I can say that:
1) I have the drivers OK, I have the WWAN network adapter etc.
2) I have inserted the SIM card correctly
The SIM card works perferctly if I use the USB 3G stick instead. So the problem is not in the SIM card. I think there is some configuraiton of the Sierra modem which should be done - to switch to 3G/2G or something.
I've got a Dell Inspiron 1501 Laptop. When I switch it on it produces the most deafening series of beeps. The Dell Diagnostics CD says:
Error Code 2C00:041D Stuck Key Detected
Keyboard is Continuously transmitting a scan code 31h
It would appear that the left cursor key is stuck, as the only way I can get into windows (using an external keyboard) is to type my password backwards! instead of 'password' I type 'drowssap' The cursor is constantly moving left so by typing the password backwards it comes out the right way round. I took the cover off and disconnected & removed the keyboard and trackpad. But the problem persists: it seems this key is constantly transmitting, even without the keyboard!!
I've cleared the CMOS, left it unplugged without power, battery, CMOS Battery for 3 days. I've flashed the BIOS, changed the Memory. Still the same problem. Keyboard has been disconnected all this time, but getting this constant Key signal.Where is it coming from if the keyboard is disconnected?
I spilled drink on my laptop. This has resulted in dead keyboard. I ordered new one and i don't wanna send my laptop away for few months. So i m gonna change it my self. It's not first time taking apart my laptop (well it's first time taking apart y580).

I mean the F-function do work with fn, but when I just click F4 it should close the programe, or F7 it should go to airmode, or f9 with should close just the monitor. But these things do not happen. I really love theme and made my life easier.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with My Lenovo y510p. I was working for some time on Windows 7 with no errors. I decided to upgrade my system to Windows 8.1. I did a clean install and installed all drivers from Lenovo website as well. I have a problem that after waking up laptop from sleep mode sometimes (not always) built-in keybord is not working. Solution is to turn compter sleep again and wake it up again or logoff from windows and login again.
Have any of you had such problem with Windows 8.1? I tried power management options changes that used to be a solution for other brands but with no success...
After I went on One Key Recovery and went on Windows 7, I couldn't use my keyboard, right now I'm using a USB keyboard to type this.
View 4 Replies View RelatedJust got my new x1 carbon, and I like it alot, trackpad isn't as bad as everyone is complaining about. However one big issue is that I want to keep the Function row on by default, and only switch to the default one with volume controls if I press the FN button to do so. Right now no matter even if I chose not to show the default keys, with volume and cloud and all that, it still comes back anytime I switch to a different app.
View 9 Replies View RelatedAfter entering the initial request for password (successfully), the keyboard is non-functional. With the exception of the windows scroll key, no other keys work. Logic suggests that this is a driver problem. The question is which driver?
BTW, looking at the driver manager, it says that the keyboard driver is a standard PS2 keyboard from Microsoft, dated 6/21/2006, version 6.2.9200.16548. Can this be?
I installed some Corsair Ram in slot 1 and 2 underneath the keyboard and after reinstalling the keyboard Ive noticed theres a gap at the top of the keyboard where it slots into the computer the whole way across specifically in the middle where theres alot of flex. The plastic which has the power and volume buttons seems to move around when pressed. This seems to be letting in dust and would especially allow a spill to enter the machine. This doesn't seem normal for a well built machine and have I installed the keyboard wrong?

But when I got through the installation process the "installation program" says the driver couldn´t be installed.

but I have synaptics 7.5 and not 7.4. I also tried fixing with the register but didn´t find the entry PalmKms. I did do find other entries with Palm.
I see this as a major problem since it makes me completely unable to use any program that require simultaneously use of the keyboard and mouse. Therefore I guess that must be a solution for this?
I was wondering if it is even possible to turn off the keyboad backlight of lenovo Y510p?
