View 2 Replies View RelatedI use my boot camp partition in Vmware. How do I make a bootable copy of that? I want to know because in Boot camp I'm gonna install Windows 7, but I might still need XP so I was thinking about using Vmware for that.
View 7 Replies View RelatedMy wireless worked fine last night. Got up this morning, turned the computer on, and the wireless does not work. Here's what I've done so far:
* Using fn+F5 I've ensured the wireless is turned on.
* When I try to connect wirelessly I get "error 651 modem not working." But the wireless works with the other twocomputers in my house, and when I hook up directly to the modem/router (Motorola 3347 from Qwest) with anEthernet cable, the Y560 works fine. So I do not think the modem is the problem.
* Tried to "auto detect" driver update using the Lenovo support, but that was useless. It did not autodetect anything.
* From the Lenovo site, it looks like the wireless drivers for the Y560 are all from March, and I got the computer in lateMay, so I should have the latest drivers installed anyway.
I was using my laptop today and tried to connect to a wireless network. However, my network connections does not allow me to connect to it, and when I tried to troubleshoot the issue, it told me that I needed to plug in an ethernet cord. Looking under the control panel also showed that the option for wireless had disappeared.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm on a roll with my new y510p. Last night I got the unit new from Lenovo outlet, and the battery wont' charge past 33% (covered in another post) and now the wireless adapter isn't working.
I can't connect or find any wireless networks, though I could last night. And the windows networking troubleshooter can't find anything. What's more, when I go to the command line and type 'ipconfig /all' nothing appears, no network adapters at all.
I've rebooted several times and even tried the Intel wireless proset (believe that's what it's called) utility that comes with the laptop. It squawked on the hardware test-- something about not 'wireless hardware is not bound to transport driver'.
Sometimes the machine does not show any wireless networks and I have been able to solve it by turning on and off the hardware switch for wireless on the back of the machine. This time I can not get the machine to find any wireless networks. I am running XP. The only think different that I noticed is that MS Security Essesntials has ended support for XP.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy friend bought a U430 Touch with Windows 8. He hated Win 8 so downgrade to Win 7. Now the wireless dowsn't work. Ethernet works fine and we are able to get on the internet, but wireless does not work at all. I've been to Lenovo's site and downloaded the drivers from their support site, but nothing weems to work. Is there a special driver I'm missing?
View 5 Replies View RelatedInitially configuration was easy (through available connections)and i could use net at ease. Bue couple of days I happened to "Disable" two network which used to connect automatically the moment i used to turn my laptop ON.But after that, I never saw them in the available connection. Although i can see those network available on my phone, but on laptop i unable to detect them. I tried configuring them by using "wireless network connection properties" and i could even chnage their preference too. I tried disabling/enabling wireless network, but its not working at all.But at the same time I can see coupls of other wireless network which are in range, but i can not connect to any of those as they dont belong to my hotel.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have uninstalled Windows 8 and installed Windows 7 64bit Pro on my new Lenovo Ideapad u410. I managed to get all the drivers working... EXCEPT ONE: The WLAN.
Now here's what I did and what happens every time I try to install the WLAN driver:
I have downloaded the driver "WiFi Link Driver (Intel, CyberTan, Liteon) for Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit)" from the page [URL] ... multiple times and tried installing it multiple times. The installation process works until the status "Search the target device in this machine" shows up. As soon as this status shows up, the installation exits without an error message or anything else. How to get it working. I can't even use this machine without WLAN.
By the way:
- LAN works fine
- It's not a hardware issue as the WiFi worked fine on the preinstalled Win8
- The WiFi won't even show up under Windows
- I have not installed "Intel WiMax Driver for Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit)" driver as I am told that this is not used.
- Of course I am running the .exe as Administrator
- I tried installing Win7 on UEFI before.
My Ideapoad P500 is approximately 16 months old (so the warranty period is out, obviously!) A couple of nights after a reboot I got the message "Repairing Hard Disk errors. This could take an hour or longer."... or something very similar. The laptop hung up at that message for more than 18 hours.
I did a hard reboot and now get the message "Checking media" followed by the error "Boot failed." This leads to the message, "Default Boot Device Missing or Boot Failed."No I don't have any recovery media.Yes I have pretty recent backups so that is not a problem.I've got an enclosure that I can use to hook my laptop hard drive up to so I can see if the drive is even readable.
Now here is the 64 thousand dollar question... how do I get the hard drive out of the laptop? I have taken the five screws out of the back. At that point, I think the DVD drive should slide out, but it does not.how to get the hard drive out?
I have a y500 Lenovo gaming laptop with Windows 8, and for the past couple of days, each time my laptop is put in hibernation or powered down, whenever I turn it back on it gives me this message:
"Default Boot Device Missing or boot failed Insert recovery media and hit any key Then select boot manager to choose a new boot device to boot or recovery media."
Then it brings me to a page with 3 boot options, and only the Windows Boot Manager works. I'm doing scans and hardware scans but so far nothing is being found. This laptop is less than 2 months old so I really don't think it's a hardware problem, and I haven't downloaded anything recently that may have messed this up. I would contact Lenovo but I'm unsure if this is an issue with the laptop, or Windows 8.
I get the error in the Title after i tried to flash the latest BIOS update for the Z510. I can press ok and then get into the boot manager but i cant choose anything there. Also I cant boot from a Disk with e.g. XP on it.
I also tried the Inside BIOS crisis mode (fn+r) with the BIOS file on my USB drive but it doesn't work and tries to access the file on the USB drive but boots normally instead to the error again. (Couldn't try it with removed battery as I have to remove the whole back to remove the battery on the Z510).
I noticed that there were new updates so I went ahead and installed them. On restart, the gray screen came up and just sat there. I shut down and started up a few times and same thing. I restarted and held the option key down and it gave me the OS menu and I'm able to boot Mac OSX from there.
I'm going to try to set the default OS using Boot Camp to see if that fixes the problem.
I have a dell Inspiron 15r 3537 i7 model with windows 8. I bought it 4 months ago. I was playing a game on it and it suddenly hanged. I waited for 5-10 minutes and tried to close the game but it wasn't closing and it was hung. I waited for atleast 15 minutes and I had no choice so I switched it off from the power button thinking that it will turn on normally. But when I switched it on it showed the dell logo and then it said
Checking media
Checking media [fail]

No boot device found. Press any key to reboot the machine.
When I rebooted the machine, the same error came.
I purchased R400 yesterday and downgraded to XP Pro using the CD coming with the laptop. After the conversion from Vista to XP, I cant see the wireless, bluetooth, finger print etc. In the device manager I can see only "1394 Net Adapter" and "Intel (R) 82567LF Gigabit Network Adapter". Nothing in yellow.
I downloaded the driver file 6hwc05ww and installed but still I can't see any wireless adapter! why it is not coming automatically like other drivers? How can I install it?
Wireless card - genuine intel 4965AGN FRU-42t0867, the card has passed BIOS check for whitelist, but - after windows 7 has started - no sign that wireless card is installed. I don't see it in Device manager, and driver i installed (Intel Wireless LAN (11abgn, abg, bg), 14.03.0000, 7/17/2012) also cannot work for me.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am a PC technician building a Thinkpad T540p for an end user. It is running Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit. I have installed all the drivers directly from the Lenovo support page. My problem is that the function key to turn the Wireless Radio is not working. I have checked function lock. The other function keys do their marked function fine. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the hotkey driver as well as the wireless driver and I still can not get it to work.

It appears that some people have had success using a particular method but unfortunately it was described quite badly and failed to work in my case.
I have a Lenovo IdeaPad Z50-70 and since almost 2 days i'm seeing that my wireless connections are not working/appear. Till about 2 days ago all worked fine. It says 'hardware radio off', i looked on google but nothing come up yet, i tried to "Reset PROSet" but still, after the reset it's the same problem. There isn't such a big problem, because i use an internet cable and all works fine, yet because it's a laptop i want to buy a router so there's the problem, i can buy it but won't work... as wireless.
How can i fix that? How to turn hardware radio ON? Is there a button or a key combo?
I recently bought a Lenovo z50-70 laptop with Broadcom Wireless Adapters. Its a Windows 7-32 bit system. Wireless LAN worked fine for a few hours, but after a restart it started saying Wireless Capability is turned off. i have tried following:
1. looked for a hardware wireless switch. there is none.
2. reinstalled WLAN drivers from lenovo site without success.
3.restarted WLAN Autoconfig service for no avail.
I'm looking for some information about the supported wifi cards for the U410 notebook.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo, I've just installed Windows 8.1, and all drivers needed, but I can't see any wireless networks (it says Off under Wi-Fi tab, and there's no way turning it on). Tried enabling/disabling device, reinstalling drivers, and F7 key but it only turns airplane mode on/off.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI reinstalled windows the other day on my V570. Everything is working great except the wireless drivers which i cannot install. In my device manager under other devices, i get an unknown network controller.
I have downloaded and tried installing all of the drivers from the lenovo site as well as tried scanning on the Intel site. i will get the dreaded "no matched wireless" pop up.
I am using Windows 7 home premium which is what came on the machine.
My Lenovo N500 has been connected to my house network for a while now, but recently has been dropping off. It seems to last for 2-3 minutes before dropping and does not reconnect automatically.
My husband has a laptop on the same network and he does not experience the same problems, so this is not a router problem.
I have checked all the settings and nothing has changed since I was permanently connected.
This problem has only occurred in the last week or so and I really want to throw the machine out of the window at the moment.
I am using ideapad y510p. My wifi worked perfectly yesterday evening. However today at morning I couldnt find any wifi networks. After some research I have discovered that there is not wifi adapter present in Network Adapters and also that there is no wifi adapter in device manager. However bluetooth works fine. I have tried reinstalling drivers (even clean install of everything that may have something with networking). But I still cant see any wifi adapter. LAN connection works just fine. I dont think this should be hardware related problem because as far as I know bluetooth and wifi adapters are both located on Intel Centrino N2230. So I think that if my wifi adapter would be broken than bluetooth wouldnt be working too. I have also tried using system restore point to last week (when everything was working perfectly) but it didnt work.
I have also downloaded latest drivers from intel website and when I run tests with theirs WiFi Software Utility (or whatever it is called) it says that there is no wifi adapter present so it fails even hardware test.
I'm not sure if any other user has experience this issue. I did a lenovo update couple weeks back and since then my wireless adapter would not work after waking up from sleep mode. It shows that the wireless adapter is connected to wireless network but the internet would not work. The only way i can make it work is by disabling the wifi adapter by putting the laptop in airplane mode and then bringing it back out from it. Disabling and enabling the wireless adapter does a quick fix and does allow me to use the internet without any issue for the time being. i have also uninstalled and reinstalled fresh drivers from lenovo website, still having the same problem.
