Using the projector setting, I'm noticing a slight lag when I open/close any of the applications (ie: there is a momentary pause before the window either appears/disappears).
The external monitor is a Samsung Central Station (1920x1080) and connects to the laptop wirelessly via a USB/UWB dongle.
I am running Win 7 on a new T440p. I can't connect to a projector using F7 nor are the brightness controls working (F5 and F6). The other HotKeys are working. I have updated to the latest HotKey driver.
View 3 Replies View RelatedBought a refurb T400 and installed a PNY SSD in it. It POST's okay and I can access bios. I can also read/install Linux from DVD just fine.
Trouble is when I insert my win7 home premium DVD into the drive and boot it, I get POST and then I get a black screen. It seems to be reading the drive and when I interrupt with the Esc key or open the DVD drive, I get a Windows menu explaining that the installation has been interrupted.
I've looked at the bios options and can't see anything obvious that should be changed.
When I connect second display via regular VGA cable I can set the maximum resolution to 1920x1080, although native resolution for my external screen is 1920x1200.
I could just find posts related to similar problems when using docking station - tried some of the solutions, but none seemed to work.
Found this [URL] ... on dpreview - suggests using miniDP to DP 2-link converter (screen has just VGA/DP ports).
I got T510. The display went out and all I can see is flickering screen so I cannot see anything. I am getting T540p. What is the best way for me to move data from my hard drive to the new one? At least I would like to move pictures and documents, I got no backup.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI was watching a film on my projector, from my Lenovo T510 laptop, using a Display Port to HDMI cable. There was a thunderstorm and a powercut during the film, but my laptop wasnt plugged in at the time. Then when I touched the Display port end of the cable, which is plugged in to my laptop, it was too hot to touch, and had was slightly bulging and mis shapen! Now it has cooled down and just looks and feels normal. Very strange, and I dont see how it could have been related to the storm and powercut, but it seems a bit too coincidental! I have used this cable multiple times before and never noticed this, but then again maybe I wouldnt have ever touched it until it had cooled down. But I it was pretty much metling it was so hot, so I would think Id notice it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a brand new TV with USB, RS232, HDMI connections and of course with a screen in16:9 aspect ratio. I want to use my existing RS232 cable to connect my T430 to the TV and display videos/movies that I want to view with others. HOWEVER, the video output always gets a black bar top and bottom from the T430 when the TV is connected. As a result, the image is stretched side-to-side both on the TV and on the T430 simultaneously showing the video. It is ugly. If I watch a movie in the very wide movie format 2.35:1, the bars are of course even larger and the movie is simply unwatchable it's so thin, top-to-bottom.
This is true regardless of the video source on the T430, either a movie via VLC or MediaPlayer off the hard drive, or streaming.
Two odd things: it does not happen if I play a movie on the TV directly from a USB key - it has a USB port and that works just fine. Also, if I simply unplug the RS232 from the TV then everything gets restored and the image on the T430 is perfect without any bars top and bottom.
In summary, a 16:9 video source connected to a 16:9 TV via RS232 is given black bars top and bottom, and there is no control on the TV that can correct this (TV has two settings for RS232 display, 4:3 and 16:9. 4:3 actually displays the 16:9 ratio correctly, but with a large black frame around it. And 16:9, the "auto" setting, gives the problem above).
So I have two questions:
1. Is there a setting on the T430 that I can adjust to resolve this issue so that the black bars are suppressed for 16:9 video replay?
2. If I switch to using the more expensive T430 minidisplay output (via an HDMI adapter) and connect that way, is it likely to fix this issue? I don't want to go to the expense of the adapter and HDMI cable if it will give essentially the same result.
This only applies to videos. That is, when I close down the video, the 16:9 desktop that shows on the TV is identical to that on the T430 and aspect ratio is not squished on either display.
So it's something to do with how the machine sends out the video streams via RS232 that's screwed up somehow.
I just bought a Lenovo ThikpPad T540p as a replacement of my old Lenovo ThinkPad R61i.What i'm looking for, is to turn off the internal Display if Windows 7 is locked. On my old R61i, it was the Hotkey FN + F3. I was easy able to changing the function of F3 in the "Energy Manager 6" on the R61i.I did not found any similar option on the new T540p.Because i use is very often when i run the laptop during the night and i sleep in the same room. Then i usually lock Windows an turn off the display.
View 2 Replies View Related I wanted to go today and get an adapter for my Lenovo Thinkpad T430 and first I thought I should do some research. This is how I found out that most of the Thinkpads do not send audio over DP, as I would have expected.
I have the T430 (no discrete graphics, just the integrated one) and Mini Dock Series 3 with USB 3.0 (EU1) docking station. The laptop has mini-DP and the docking has a normal DP. The normal DP works fine with my monitor, but it doesn't have any speakers in it , so can't test the audio part.
I checked in Audio properties in Windows (7 x64) and I don't see the video card there, so I am assuming it is not supported. I don't want to buy adapters if the laptop is unable to send audio over a DP-> HDMI adapter.
I have a 3-yr old Thinkpad T500 laptop w/ XP. My on-screen volume and brightness displays have recently disappeared. Spoke with customer support and was advised to download all the machine updates....did that, but still not working.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI bought this computer which is running 7win64 to update my T60 which I use with my home TV, a samsung digital running at 1360x768 resolution. The computer's native resolution is 1920x1080. I bought an hdmi adapter for the displayport from lenovo when I ordered the computer. Initially, the display works and at first it ran long enough to get everything set for a nice crisp display that fits the screen perfectly. The sound is there too, and is passed on to my receiver by the TV. Very nice. But then it begins to blink off until it doesn't work at all (the sound is cut off too). Lately it won't stay on long enough to review settings.
All updates are in place, both from microsoft and from lenovo. This has Intel 4600 graphics built in, and intel has graphics drivers available, but won't install them because of the lenovo supplied drivers.
I can't get any support from lenovo support because another device is involved.
I read online of some early users who had this problem with a docking station and i guess the problem was resolved with an updated driver.
I tried to do fn + f7 to toggle display modes as I want only laptop or monitor display, not both. But when I do fn + f7, the small window pop up ask me if I want to turn on caret browsing or not. How to toggle display modes between laptop or monitor for t440p, window 8.1?
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy T530 (a month old) is driving me crazy with this issue: Depending on which application is in the foreground, it will dim/undim the built-in screen (1600x900 version). I have turned off adaptive screen brightness in the power options, and I've turned off Film Mode Detection and Adaptive Contrast Enhancement in the Intel Graphics and Media Control Panel, but this "feature" won't go away.
How in the world can I get the screen to be on 100% brightness, unless I manually change it?
Windows 8.1, 64bit, all drivers up to date, Nvidia 730m, intel 4600. Fairly new issue (couple of months), laptop wakes from sleep but display does not function, everything seems to be working normally during, just no display. Forced to hard restart.
Just avoiding using sleep mode for now. Seems to be a software issue, upgraded to 8.1 when purchased almost a year ago, worked fine until recently.

I have a T420 Thinkpad and have 2 external monitors connected; one using VGA into the docking station and one using DVI into the docking station. The laptop does not recognize the mobile PC display as an option when I attempt to extend to a 3rd monitor. The ultimate goal is 3 monitors extended: 2 external and 1 (the laptop display). Is this possible?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI updated the BIOS to 2.26 a while ago and ever since then there's no on-screen indication of caps lock on/off, screen brightness or volume when I change it. Since it seemed to be affected by BIOS, I updated again to 2.27 just now, but the problem persists. I needed to update the Hotkeys Feature Integration by downloading the utility thingy from this page. Probably wasn't a BIOS thing after all.

After a installing a few updates and program I noticed strange system beaver. The I installed Lenovo System Update and all its recommended updates and did a new system file check, Windows system files corrupt. What Lenovo update is destroying the system?
My T500 (2241-3XU with Win 7 64 bit Ultimate) has never been able to wake up from sleep mode after lid is closed. I finally reverted to using hibernate but was just wondering if there is a new fix that I am not aware of. I tried to find info a couple of years back before switching to hibernate.

I've tried Fn+F7, not working, tried stamina mode, not working, tried speed mode, not working. I've tried "Connect to a projector or other external display", not working. I've no idea what I should do. I really need to fix this or else I'll get screwed this semester. Every other notebook the projector connects to, it will automatically detect and show the display. Only mine is like this.

I have seen it on two different laptops now. Both are HP ProBook 6460b. When the user plugs the laptop into a VGA cable that is connected to a projector, the laptop blue screens and reboots.
The laptop doesn't bluescreen and reboot when connected to monitors, but usually the users are using a docking station when connected to a monitor, or monitors. I haven't seen any issues with plugging in a VGA cable connected to a monitor, but that is rare.
I've tried updating drivers, but haven't had any luck.
We have several 8460p with the same issue. They work fine until you try to connect an external monitor/TV/projector and then the trouble begins.
When using Fn+F4 to establish a dual screen output the external monitor and the built in screen switches between the two as if the PC can not determine the screen to use. On rare occasions it works but it is not reliable. I´ve first encountered this on a fair and when I tried it before the session it worked well. During the session it just started this behaviour. I took it out and replaced the graphic drivers, the BIOS and made sure the resolution was not the issue. It worked well and I returned it to the lecturing room and it started again.
I started to believe the projector was the bad part here so I did not try to use the PC again on that fair but no other computer showed any sign of trouble.
Since then, this was early this spring, I´ve seen and experienced the same problem with several computers of the same type and with different monitor and they all behave the same way.
I have spent some time now and searched the web but nothing I´ve found does explain anything around this and so far no driver update and no other update (including a full installation) has solved this.
The computer are the HP Elitebook 8460p with AMD-graphics.
There are not any other indication of that something is wrong in logs or anything.
I recently got a T440s and wanted to replace the hdd with the SSD from my old laptop, and it is not being detected at boot. It works fine in my e420s.The SSD is a Kingston V+200 240GB. It's a 7mm drive.When I turn on Diagnostic boot in the BIOS I get the following error message:
PXE-E61: Media Test Failure, check cable
PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel Boot Agent.
It seems like their is a problem with the connector? The SSD in the computer can actually wiggle around a little bit (<1mm), it seems like it shouldn't do that.
