I have a sony vaio labtop model VGN-CR51B_W.It has Japanese vista.Can we convert it to English vista.If so how?
I have also installed a fresh English vista on my labtop.Now can i install japanese drivers in Englsih vista,will it work?
I brought two days ago my sony vaio SR with russian vista business OS. I need to change it to english. Please help me how to do it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI wanted to reinstall my VGN-Z90US, so as for preparation I was planning to download latest drivers, as it's easily possible from the US page. But what a surprice, on the Japanese page it's written that it's not possible and I'll find the drivers on recovery discs and C:WindowsDrivers only...which are outdated of course.
So the question is, does anybody know the source for latest drivers for Japanese Z...FTP or anything? Or should I try to use the ones from US site?
new Vaio Z directly from Japanese SonyStyle. But I still have few questions about CTO:
1. Why can't I choose both WiMax and WWAN at the same time? Z comes with Intel 6250 card and dedicated 3G modem in Europe, is Japanese version different in this regard? Will it have USB in miniPCI-E slot for 6200 card if ordered without WiMax but with 3G?
2. I can't find pictures showing all keyboards available... I'm interested in backlight version with keys layout as close to US as possible.
Recently I have upgraded to Win7Pro x64 EN on my Z90US, everything work like a charm except for the keyboard.
I got Japanese keyboard and even though I have installed the Japanese keyboard and IME in Win7, the layout doesn't match.
The Japanese specific keys don't work (e.g. kanji switch) and also the Shift+key is different. E.g. when I want to write &, than ^ comes out.
I had a copy of BIOS R0083N0 that I was about to flash my SZ with, but after deciding to take the plunge after a month of diliberation, it gives the informative error message: WBFLASH - Cannot read the system information.
I have spent this evening trying to find a copy of it from Sony's website but it has remained elusive. The URL I have is [url] and I thought that there was a link from there. Unfortunatly, Bablefish refuses to translate the URL nor the text when copied and pasted into it:- This might be a problem with my laptop and not Bablefish.
The question:
Where can I get a copy of the latest BIOS for the Vaio SZ90?
(Or SZ91 92 93 94 or 95 because I expect that these BIOSes will all work)

It works fine but every now and then when she is using it the character set jumps to French and we can't figure out how to get English back. Any ideas ?
The last time it happened, she was browsing Yahoo using Explorer. She accidentally hits a key (easy thing to do on that keyboard) and wala, its in French. Then she has no option but to reboot. When she logs back in, its back in English.
I bought my laptop from france so windows is in french ... I installed language pack core of system is still in french. How could I install legit windows 8.1 on it that is in english.

My 620 has Nvidia graphics so preferably I would like to find a D630 notebook with built in Nvidia graphics. your computer may not have enough memory to examine the drives (or) your windows xp CD may contain some corrupt files to continue press enter" this is the error message when i continue to install it installs and after installation it hangs with xp logo . if i try to install with xp german it installs smoothly without error
I bought a new Mac just yesterday (my first time to switch from PC) believing that the East Asian Support in Macs will be equally if not better in OS X than Windows (given that Japan is a huge market for Macs and also that you can even order a Japanese keyboard when purchasing your computer). To my horror, however, I am now realizing that there's a feature where Windows outpeforms OS X, or what OS Xi is totally lacking;
IME Pad - i.e. in Windows when you switch to Japanese language keyboard you have an option to use your mouse to draw a kanji you are not familiar with (don't know its reading). You'll get a lit of options and can find thus a kanji extremely fast - no need for radical or stoke look-up. I've heard that OS X doesn't have this function - at least not 10.5. If that's true this would be a major drawback!
the only solution to this would be to use an internet interface such as this:

But this is way too cumbersome and requires internet access.

I got a 9400 through work, they paid for it and gave it to me. had a X1400, which was promptly replaced with a 7950GTX 512mb and overclocked to 666/800.
got the 4965AGN wifi card, bluetooth 2.0EDR, 1920x1200 screen, essentially maxed out the 9400.
So i was wondering if i got my hands on a 1710 motherboard and chassis, would it be possible to swap my CPU [T7200] wifi card [intel Wifilink 4965AGN] GPU[7950GTX] ram [2x1GB DRR2] speakers etc.

I need to import some LP's to digital format. At one time I had a program that allowed me to filter out any hiss or noise without degrading the recording. But sadly I can not find that program now. So is there any filters that come with GarageBand or can be added to do this. Or any other application that will work with a mac.

My problem is when i am using avidemux or handbrake or nero recode 2015 to convert video my cpu usage is always at 100%.its not using the nvidia cuda capabilities to take load off the cpu .its like the switchable graphic is always stuck on intel 4600 .
I tried updating the graphic cards and latest bios update .tried putting the power at high performance. Opened nvidia settings and added programs to the list to be used with nvidia graphic processor . In bios i have selected the nvidia graphic card ... still the same cpu is at 100% during video converting .
I got myself a new laptop but it became french not english(didn't get to decide, wasn't there then), but I got the store i bought it from to put it into english. The problem is that when it was french there were more programs like gridvista, eye webcam etc. Now that it's english there none of those programs. So i'm wondering if I should do the eRecovery management thing, will it stay in english with the programs like the french one? or should i ask for recovery disks from acer and tell them my problem?... it's a acer 5920g/5920-6642 laptop...says both on my laptop.

The new user wanted teh default language to be English but still be able to use the Japanese characters on the keyboard as needed and so a copy of Windows 7 ultimate was installed on it. This achieved the goal of changing the primary language to English, but due to the fact that this was a US version of Ultimate and the original OS was Japanese, it did not due an upgrade but instead did a new install.
A side effect of this is now several Japanese keys are not recognized by the computer. Is there a driver or something that i will need to install for those keys to be mapped properly? I thought Windows would automatically recognize the Japanese keyboard.

what Sony's policy (Sony USA) is on providing a 32-bit version of Vista with the laptops that now only include the 64-bit version (such as the Sony VAIO Z7xx series)?
From the information I have come across, apparently it is at your laptop manufacturer's discretion to provide you with a 32-bit OEM copy (which would also need a different product key than the one provided with the laptop for the 64-bit version, since it is OEM and not retail) or leave you to purchase your own copy. Does anyone have experience with Sony in this regard?
if the Windows 7 upgrade kit will also be 64-bit only?
trying to "Downgrade" my Laptop from Vista to XP, I have a legal copy of XP and when I boot from disk it wont install it just says that it cannot find a HD to install to. I downloaded a copy of XP to see if my disc was just broken or something and it let me format my HD and install XP, the only problem i have with that is i wont be able to perform updates and i only have a small screen in the middle of my display (i assume this is because some drivers are missing) also i cant connect to the internet because there are drivers missing. I have been on the sony website and downloaded some but they dont work, i think its because there designed for Vista.
So my question is this, does anyone know how I can get my LEGAL copy of XP to install and also does anyone know where I can get compatible drivers for it? My Laptop is VGN-NR38E/S.
My new FW490 came installed with Windows Vista 64 Home Premium SP1. I've read that Verson SP2 is available from Microsoft, but it does not appear in Windows update or on the Sony Download site. Has anyone upgraded to this version on the FW490?
