I would like the better graphics (even the integrated graphics), but can't determine which model is which at dell.com (not looking for an outlet purchase, just a regular new computer).
Also, can someone tell me the differnces b/w the 1535, 1536, and 1537? I am not a gamer, outside of an occasional game here or there (nothing too crazy-i.e. I have never bought a game that cost more than about $20 for context)...............
I have a 1536 that I thought had a dead motherboard. I bought a 1537 motherboard, T9600 CPU & a CPU fan & heatsink. Finally all the parts showed up & I got it installed. Unfortunatly all this new hardware & still same problem. When you turn it on the media lights flash on & then off & the DVD drive makes some noise. The display doesn't turn on & no HDD activity. I know the 4G of DDR2 is good & the HDD is good as I tested them in another laptop. Any help would be helpful. I would think that I would get some HDD activity ( noise & HDD light ) if the display was dead.
I tried several times to install Windows XP on my 1536.
Problem is that after "Windows loads all the files" and claims that "Setup is starting Windows" it will blue screen. This problem is not the disk, as I have tried Pro, Home, and Media Center edition all with burnt and OEM disks.
I have a 14 month old Dell Studio 1536 Wal-Mart special that is dead. According to the box it only had a 1 year warrenty.
I know the 320G HDD & the 4G of RAM still work ( tested them in a different laptop ). I'm pretty sure the motherboard is dead.
The power light comes on , media lights flash & the HDD spins but nothing else happens no monitor, no HDD light, no caps lock light, no USB mouse light, nothing. Through my searching the net I figured out that I can put 1535 / 1537 guts into my 1536 chassis ( which is good as I no longer will buy anything with AMD inside ( this is my first & last ) & I haven't found a 1536 motherboard ).
I have found many different 1535 / 1537 motherboards & processors. What I want to know is which ones do I want & which to stay away from.
Does anyone know where I can buy a D630 motherboard. I want to convert my 620 too a 630 so I can get the Intel 965 chipset. My 620 has Nvidia graphics so preferably I would like to find a D630 notebook with built in Nvidia graphics. I have checked ebay with now luck and I know that asking Dell about this would be a complete joke. Anyone know where I can just buy Latitude parts?
My new Studio 15 (1535, technically) came with a manual that references a Studio 1536 model in addition to the 1535 and 1735. The Dell Support site also lists three Studio models- 1535, 1536 and 1735.
Based on Dell's model numbering, the 1536 is an AMD-based Studio 15. The manual also noted that one of the graphics options for this model is the ATI Radeon Mobilty HD 3200 which is the integrated graphics processor available with AMD's newest "Puma" processors.
So, I'm trying to figure out if we're going to see a Studio 1536 introduced in the very near future, based on the AMD Puma platform. OR is this a model sold outside of the U.S. market?
It seems logical that Dell would offer an AMD-based Studio 15 to compete against HP's dv5z and Toshiba's A305D models.
is it possible to swap the guts of a 1705 into the chassis of a 1710, using a 1710 motherboard.
I got a 9400 through work, they paid for it and gave it to me. had a X1400, which was promptly replaced with a 7950GTX 512mb and overclocked to 666/800. got the 4965AGN wifi card, bluetooth 2.0EDR, 1920x1200 screen, essentially maxed out the 9400.
So i was wondering if i got my hands on a 1710 motherboard and chassis, would it be possible to swap my CPU [T7200] wifi card [intel Wifilink 4965AGN] GPU[7950GTX] ram [2x1GB DRR2] speakers etc.
I need to import some LP's to digital format. At one time I had a program that allowed me to filter out any hiss or noise without degrading the recording. But sadly I can not find that program now. So is there any filters that come with GarageBand or can be added to do this. Or any other application that will work with a mac.
I need to import 100+ LP's. I will be using a preamp to take the phono players output directly into my MBP.
I bought a lenovo e440Ā specs i5-4300M(2.6GHz),4GB RAM,500GB 5400rpm HD,14in 1366x768 LCD,1GB NVIDIA N15V-GM, CDRW/DVDRW,802.11bgn wireless, 1Gb Ethernet,UltraNav, Camera,6c Li-Ion, running windows 8.1 64 bit all drivers are installed and working properly .
My problem is when i am using avidemux or handbrake or nero recode 2015 to convert video my cpu usage is always at 100%.its not using the nvidia cuda capabilities to take load off the cpu .its like the switchable graphic is always stuck on intel 4600 .
I tried updating the graphic cards and latest bios update .tried putting the power at high performance. OpenedĀ nvidia settings and added programs to the list to be usedĀ with nvidia graphic processor . In bios i have selected the nvidia graphic card ... still the same cpu is at 100% during video converting .
planning to buy a laptop for all kind of purposes: watching movies, converting them to dvd, play games, surf internet, use word etc.
I am thinking of buying Dell XPS 1530 for $1778 without tax (btw my budget is under $2000) heres the laptop config:
Additional Info:
Now i really need ur views on this btw as u can see i am saving $221. Also is it a good choice to upgrade to T9300 for $200 or i should stick with T8100?
i live in Canada Also can someone please confirm if this laptop includes: VGA output for RS232cable, firewire, and svideo. Also would i be able to attach my external desktop speakers or not ? i am also very confuse about the battery like not sure which one to get like 9 or 6 cell ..cuz i heard that 9 cell would be very heavy compare to 6 and weird shape? Lastly is the grainy screen problem still around like i have to tell the representative for LG screen or not ?
what the performance difference is between the Intel Core i7-620M and the . Intel Core i7-820QM. I always thought the quad core 820QM was faster, but on the hp website the dual core 620M is more expensive.
Is the 620M faster? And is it faster for specific things only?
I own a Dell 7520 and it has four 3.0 usb ports. However, I have discovered that one program I use does not support Intel 3.0 USB ports only USB 2.0 ports. So the only port that program will use is the Realtek USB card reader on the 7520 because that is a native 2.0 port.
According to a poster Innogen on the Intel support forum "The BIOS in my Dell Inspiron 7520 allows me to disable it so that the USB 3.0 ports revert to USB 2.0 functionality." but I can't find any such functionality in my BIOS (using version A06).

I tried uninstalling the Intel USB 3.0 drivers in WIn 7 Ultimate hoping that when I rebooted it would install USB 2.0 drivers but it simply reinstalled the USB 3.0 drivers.
I would really like to get this program working on my computer and while I am not happy about losing USB 3.0 functionality I can live with it until the vendor gets its act together and starts to support Intel USB 3.0.
I know that on the dell site it states that the studio only supports 4gb ram. But I know the chipset supports 8gb ram. I was wondering if any one has tried more than the 4gb.When I look at the report from everest, it states that the system supports 8gb.
i just bought a 1537 with the wxga LG Led screen. i cant use this laptop without getting a headache. The screen is toooooooooo bright even turned down as well as adjusting the ati settings of gamma and brightness. its always to bright and strains my eyes.
Ok, so i got a new 1537 as the upgrades in the 1555 didn't impressed me.
But I have some questions... The T3400 has like 55 Celsius in Idle...is it normal? If so...is better to upgrade later to the T6400 or P8400? Also i would like to buy a backlit keyboard and a bluetooth adapter. Is there any store where I can find both? I need shipping to Canada.
I got this computer like two, three months ago and it sucks. Sometimes while I am using the built in mouse my pc will autmatically zoom in on the screen. Sometimes it freezes and I can't use the mouse and I will have to click another screen to get it to work.
It runs slow. In the beginning it would constantly blue screen or have to system restore. Also the speakers suck. Sometimes while outside or other places trying to listen to the speakers they only go so loud.
I called Dell and they said it's a software issue and they need money to help me. Best Buy would probably charge me the same thing after I already shelled out over a thousand buying the computer and warranty.
Sometimes I just want to throw this pc over the balcony so I can get a new one but how do you explain that right? Anyways if someone could help me with these problems I would really appreciate it.
I've bought a Dell 1537 laptop. It is a P8400, 3GB, 250GB, GMA4500MHD, TrueLife 1280x800.
I have some problems with it, and since I'm new to the world of laptops, I thought you might help me out.
I was very dissapointed when I discovered that it has no support for WinXP. I've installed Vista SP1 Business, but I still miss my trusty XP. I've seen that there are some XP drivers on samsware, but I wouldn't install them unless I was assured that they are as good as the latest ones from Dell. (I've installed the latest ones, and flashed the BIOS to A08)
Here are some of my problems: 1)There is a constant noise, from the moment I start the laptop, it sounds like the fan, but I think it's from the HDD(Hitachi HTS543225L9A300). Why would the fan kick in it the cpu has the room temp? I've heard the fan, but when the CPU touched 50C. Is there any chance I could get rid off this noise? Also can I lower the noise of the HDD when it writes?
2)Sometimes I also hear a high pitched noise, I think it's that CPU whine problem. Is there a solution for it?
3)I've removed the IDT drivers, and let Vista install its own, the sound improved a lot, but there still is some sort of a resonance, at medium to high levels. Anyone else had this problem?
4)Can I adjust the size of the memory shared for the video card?
5)I have the impression that the image is not that smooth(I can see the pixels quite clear, and rounded letters/objects seem "pixelated"), and that I have to take a bit of distance from the LCD, to improve it(I'm using the native resolution, the dpi is set to the lowest level, 96dpi if I remember correctly). Any advices? (The colours are OK, but the angles are awful.)
6)Can I hide the partition that came with the laptop? Dunno for sure, what's on it, I assume it is MediaDirect.
7)Is there any chance I could use an external eSATA hdd and boot OS from it?
I have a Studio 1537 and just now the F key fell off, the top left clip is broken I think, so It's attached via only three clips, and when I push it to the right, it will fall off! I've only had this for five months! ah it's fallen off again.
I've e-mailed dell about a replacement already, but they don't work saturdays unfortunately.
I've had a look on eBay and there seems to be replacement keys for around £4 each, does anyone have any experience of this? But mine is a backlit keyboard, so will need a backlit key
is it normal for a the fan on a studio 1537 to ramp up every 5 minutes or so? It doesn't go to full speed but its cleary audible and a little annoying. When it happens when I'm just browsing the web etc so nothing is being taxed.
Its about a month old and I have had the fan replaced but didn't really make a difference. Is the controller part of the fan assembly? Is there something else I need to get replaced? or is this the case of the laptop jsut trying to keep optimal temperature?
