Sony :: VGN-SZ Time To UPGRADE The T7200 To T7600

Aug 24, 2009

I know that the T7600 runs @ 2.33 GHZ with the same FSB and also the same L2 Cache, but what striked me is that when I was looking for the T7600 I found that the PRICE IS CRAZY, avaerging $650 to $750.... This is Freakingly insane! I don't know why, well after eBaying I found it for arround $200 USED, So Im currently thinking about buying it.

BUT, I'm very worried that those $200 will be thrown away if the T7600 will not work in my VGN-SZ48GN_C.

confirm that it will work?

THE SZ Is an awesome machine, mine is Made In Japan, and I just can't justify seeling it for cheap $$$ and getting the Z Model, thats why I opted for UPGRADING the following:

1. CPU from T7200 to T7600
2. SSD 64GB
3. Maybe later a 64-Bit Vista (if I found all the drivers for that OS)

I flicked through the 78 Pages in this thread willing to find information about plp getting a CPU Upgrade, but unfortunately the SZ48GN has no luck.

I guess that the T7600 2.33 GHz and L2 Cache of 4 MB will compete with latest P and/or T series CPU, will this upgrade Boost my overall system Performance?

Its time that we polish our SZ and save the bucks of buying the Z, it has its beauty as well, I admit it, but Think that Upgrading the SZ will give us a boost while being easy on our Pockets.

If you guys check for the T7600 using Google, you will be shocked by the prices, but use eBay instead, and then the magic will show............

Dell :: Upgrade A M1210 (2ghz C2D T7200) To A Vostro 1320 (T9550) 2.6ghz? Worth The Upgrade?

Jan 11, 2010

I have an aging M1210 with 2 gigs of ran, a OCZ SSD & the C2D 2ghz T7200 processor.

I wasnt really planning on an upgrade but the pricing looks pretty good.

I am not sure if its worth it though. My M1210 with SSD is amazing.

I just dont know if going from a 2.0 T7200 to a 2.66 T9550 is worth it or if i should wait longer for an I7 system in this size?

Sony :: Z Series, Time To Upgrade

May 20, 2010

I bought my sony Z series in Oct 08, havent got the full spec infront of me. But it was the 4GB, 320GB model The past 18 months its been faultless apart from a problem with the left clicker under the touch pad which sony fixed very quickly.

Ive had a couple of problems recently with it overheating. Fans running at when seems like warp speed then the laptop turning off. The laptop seems to run really warm when I have the wireless on and using the internet etc. Ive done plenty of virus scans, defrags, disk clean up and cant seem to find anything un toward.

So my next port of call is to do a full system freash install. My questions are

With the speed that technology changes is it possible to upgrade any of my current Z series?

Or

would I be better off buying on of the latest Z series models?

The laptop is used alot for internet and some gaming.

Dell :: T7200 And Oblivion

Sep 3, 2007

Per the Oblivion website, recommended CPU is a 3Ghz or higher. Minimum requirement is 2Ghz. For me, everything runs fine until an enemy shows up. Even if the enemy is BEHIND me, in pursuit, not being rendered, things get a bit laggy. Is this due to the fact that my 2Ghz CPU just cannot keep up with this CPU intensive game? If so, will the T7600 fix anything? That's only 330Mhz extra, and still errs on the side of minimum requirements. I've got the low-poly grass mod, and have done all of the Oblivion.ini tweaks that I felt were applicable.

Dell :: T7200 Overheating

Feb 2, 2008

just got a t7200 processor to replace my t2400 in my inspiron 9400 with bios a09. All ok in setup but when booting into windows fans go mental and the machine locks up and resets. Just before it does the cpu thing on fangui reads mega high like 80 to 95. Stupid question but i didn't put a thermal pad in.. Would this account for the hi temp and lockup? Will fitting a new pad fix the problem.. Or even without a thermal pad would my cpu temp shoot up so quickly, if not is it a symptom of something wrong with the chip?

Dell :: Upgrading From T2400 To T7200

Jan 13, 2008

I never thought a few hundred Mhz and a shrunken die would make that much of a difference, but when I took out the 1.83 Core duo and bought the T7200 2.0 engineering sample Merom, I was quite surprised how much of a difference I noticed! Since I'm using a 7950GTX my video card isn't much of a bottleneck (cept for games like Crysis) and watching cut scenes and movies and everything in general seems so much smoother with this new CPU. If anyone is considering upgrading, it is worth it if you have a decent GPU. This leads me to the conclusion that the CPU plays a much larger role in laptops than I originally thought.

Apple :: MacBook - Time To UPGRADE

Jun 8, 2009

I bought a MacBook on THURSDAY and now they already have new ones! Is there a way I can upgrade? My friend also recently bought a MacBook Pro and he mentioned something about Customer Relations refunding him money or something of that nature. What does this mean?

Is there a way to upgrade without paying an arm and a leg (again)?

Third- I bought an iPhone 3G 8gig mid December. I remember that at that time they had some sort of update process where you could trade in your older iPhone for a newer one.

Do you think they're going to do this? Would it be better to leave it jailbroken and do a software unlock on my current one and sell it on craigslist?

Dell :: Latitude D820 Upgrade Time

Dec 19, 2007

I have a Latitude D820 with T2500 Yonah, 1024mb ram (2 bank: 512mb), and Quadro NVS 120M "video card." I tried running NFS: Pro Street, and even on the lowest settings and resolution, it lags. I think its time for some upgrades... I have a couple of questions first.

Video Card/GPU: I know the 120m isn't a gaming card, however, the GPU IS a GeForce Go 7400, the same as the fx350m found in the Dell PRECISION M65. How is it that the precision, with the same exact same motherboard as the d820, can run a higher fps on 3d heavy apps? I know that the 120m is "optimized" for 2d drafting, but it doesn't make sense why it would be slower if it is the same gpu on the same motherboard. (excluding drivers and software based overclock).

I guess my questions are,
1.) What's the PHYSICAL difference between the D820 motherboard with the quadro 120M and the M65 with the fx350M?
2.) Is there a gpu bios I can flash to make the gpu optimized for 3d gaming? I don't care what windows recognizes it as, as long as its optimized for 3d. Use m65 bios maybe? How much does bios affect performance in game/app?
3.) What is a safe overclock speed and peak running temp for the gpu in the D820? The defaults are:
Low: Core 200mhtz, mem 400mhtz
High: Core 450 mhtz, mem 700mtz.
and averages 70 deg C idle and peaks 95 deg C load

Ram:
4.) Can the motherboard utilize ddr2-800(pc2-6400) or is it "limited" to ddr2-667(pc2-5300).
5.) The default ram latency is cas 5, 5-5-5-13. Can the mo-bo utilize a cas 4, 4-4-4-12 @333mhtz (ddr2-667)?

I already updated to the newest driver for the video card.

Dell :: T7600 Vs T7600G

Aug 7, 2007

A friend of mine works for intel in devolopment. So I been talking to him latly about the t7600 vs the t7600G . He basically said intel does not make a t7600G there is no such thing, he looked into it with a few of the other engineers. So this is what Im guessing, dell does something VERY simple to the t7600 that allows it to set a flag so the bios can detect it as a factory option and allow the overclock . . .So this is what im doing. Im bored until school starts up again (im a engineering student starting my masters in the fall) , I have access to a nems lab and engineering lab for 2 weeks before school starts. Im going to order a t7600 off ebay or here and ask my buddy to bring in his xps t7600G. Im going to test the pin outs in the lab and look for changes.

It must be a very small change and something simple that they do to allow it to throw a flag. So hopefully with a manual of pinouts I can test the i/o, resistance, etc and find the change.

Apple :: Snow Leopard Upgrade With Time Machine

Aug 25, 2009

I have a 4 month old MB 13" with Leopard.

Say I upgrade to Snow Leopard on Friday......

If I have a subsequent failure, or just want to upgrade my HDD that then requires me to restore my drive from scratch (with a good recent Time Machine backup avaialble), what process would I follow?

1) Install Leopard from my original disk, then upgrade to Snow Leopard, then use the time machine backup to restore?

-or-

2) Install Snow Leopard straight from the upgrade disk (if it even possible), then use the Time machine backup to restore?

I guess I am asking whether the "Upgrade Disk" a full install disk, or is it just for an incremental upgrade?. Do I even need my old Leopard disk anymore?

Dell :: How Can I Tell The Difference Between A T7600 And A T7600G

Feb 22, 2008

I just got my new laptop and the invoice says that it's a T7600. When I look into the system properties it show a 2.33 Ghz T7600.

But when I go into my BIOS, it has an adjustment to overclock my processor. I overclocked it to 2.83 Ghz and according to my I8KFangui and my system properties it is showing it running @ 2.83 Ghz.

So does this mean that I actually have the T7600G, or does it mean that I have the T7600 an I am going to screw it up by overclocking it!

Acer :: Upgraded Core Solo T1350 To Core 2 Duo T7200 On Aspire 5570 Guide

Jan 23, 2009

(UPDATES: DIY Bluetooth module guide added below)

upgrading my Aspire 5570 notebook more than a year ago. This time, I’m feeling lucky to share some of my experiences about how I finally upgraded my CPU from a Core Solo T1350Core 2 Duo T7200.

Again, thanks to everybody here in Notebookreview forum especially adinu, hoggie, Mack1982, TehSuigi, krazyphire and bigozone for their insights and knowledge that helps me a lot throughout the whole process. So, let’s get started!

Pre-upgrading

Please refer to these post before you start. It'll save you a lot of time and trouble later on.
Upgraded Acer 3680 Celeron CPU to a T5300!
Aspire 5315 CPU Step-by-Step Upgrade Guide

What you’ll need :Your new CPU (make sure it's compatible with your system ie; socket, FSB)Latest BIOS from Acer (upgraded to 1.3505 or latest)A good thermal paste (I would recommend Tuniq TX-2 or Arctic Silver 5 as well)Basic tools (screwdrivers, forceps, kitchen paper)Body static discharger (I would definitely recommend this as a precaution)Some alcohol, ear buds, sand paper grid 600,1200 & 2000 (optional for heat sink lapping)Lastly TIME and PATIENCE (you’ll be needing these a lot definitely!)When you’re ready, lets get our hands dirty.

How to disassemble your notebook?
I found out a very good video tutorial on how to disassemble my Aspire notebook on YouTube. So please take your time to view it and follow step by step as shown to help you to go through the process.

Lapping your heat sink (optional)
Although it’s not necessary, but I would recommend this process as another way to improve heat dissipation on your newly installed CPU. Refer to this page for detailed instructions.

The simple process:Clean your heat sink from old thermal paste residues with alcohol or equivalent of it using ear buds and kitchen papers.Apply a 600-grid sandpaper to smoothen the heat sink surface which comes into contact with your CPU.Repeat the process again with a 1200-gid sand paper until you’re satisfied.Finally, finish up by applying a 2000-grid sand paper to give you an almost mirror-finished surface. Wipe clean any dirt and residues left.....................................

Lenovo X Series ThinkPad :: X100e Wireless Connection Drops From Time To Time

Jul 27, 2010

I just got my new x100e laptop today, and i really like it. But, it has a problem.

I am connected to my wireless network at home, and it works properly on my other computers at house. But on the x100e, the connection drops from time to time. Suddenly, the internet is gone, but ten seconds later, the network is back up again.

It's not that big a problem, but it is frustrating to lose the internet from time to time. It happens from every 5 minutes to once 30 minutes.

Dell :: Hard Drive Clicks From Time To Time

Jan 22, 2009

My laptop is an inspiron 1520, about a year old now. Ever since I've had it, the hard disk drive has been making a loud, random click from time to time. Sometimes, it will click twice in the space of two minutes, sometimes it will click only once in two or three days.

Typically it's simply a loud snapping sound, like if you get a pencil and snap it against a wooden desk. It doesn't make any other sounds besides the usual hard drive sounds.

For about a quarter of a second, the system pauses. I think it's related to heat, as it happens most often while playing a graphic-intensive game.

Sony :: Battery Time Remaining

Feb 2, 2009

the battery time remaining indicator on some of the Vaio models (my FZ190 for example). This was due to the fact that the supplied apps from Sony didn't support showing the amount of time remaining.

I just came across a free app (actually a Vista toolbar) that does its own estimate of battery time remaining, based on its monitoring of the power dropping as the battery is used. It works GREAT on my FZ190 and should work on ANY machine that does not natively support this feature.

Sony :: FZ190 Upgrade From Vista To Win 7an UPGRADE Not A Clean Install

Oct 26, 2009

With all the hand wringing folks have been doing about the lack of drivers for a clean install of Win7 I thought I'd jump in to the deep end of the pool with my FZ190 and investigate an alternative. My good friends Rajesh and Dr. Pratik have done clean installs of Win7 on FZ models, but I decided to take a different approach... the "dreaded" OS in place upgrade. Partly out of curiosity, I wanted to see if it would work, but mainly because I have a ton of software that would need to be reinstalled, if I did a clean install. That would mean days or weeks of inventorying every thing I have installed, digging up installation media and then installing all the stuff. I just don't have the spare time. So...

This past weekend I imaged my C: drive (all my data and I mean ALL my data is on D:, I am a fanatic about that). MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A BACKUP OF YOUR C: DRIVE BEFORE YOU TRY AN UPGRADE! I ran the Windows 7 Update adviser and it said I had some issues:
