I own a VIAO Z VGN-Z90NS (bought in Japan), did a fresh install with vista retail and have also changed the OS to Windows 7. Since I am not able to download drivers from Japanese VIAO Homepage I downloaded the drivers from US.
When I watch any kind of video i.e. flash video, video of Youtube etc. I experience some "lags" with the videos. The videos clips or flash don't run smoothly. I wonder if it's connected to the problem that I didn't use Japanese drivers?
I purchased a VGN-AR630E sometime around January 2008 that has been completely awesome up until last month, when I had to turn off the laptop during a game with the power button.
When it restarted, the initial VIAO screen had a bunch of vertical lines, the following screen had a bunch of ((((( on it, and windows would not start outside of safe mode. I paid Sony to connect to my laptop to fix the issue which I was told the first time was virus related, the next time it was due to using a registry booster program a year ago.
By this time the problem had worsened to the point where I could not get into windows even with safe mode, so I purchased the VIAO recovery disks and set my computer to original factory condition. Initially this worked and the computer ran great for about a day, until I installed a game and ran it .....
In the past I have owned Sony Vaio desktops and I’m now looking at a Vaio laptop. I am currently looking at the VGN-NS235J/P. It can be found on the Sony site as well as Amazon (pre-order only). (Sorry, not sure if I can post links here.)My question is regarding the processor. If I look at the Sony site it shows a thumbnail of the processor being a Centrino 2, but if I look at Amazon it shows it being a Pentium Dual-Core. It has been about five years since I bought a new computer so I am trying to figure out the details. From what I’ve read on the Intel site the Centrino is a much newer as well as bigger/better/faster processor. I am a PhotoShop junkie and need speed.
i have a sony viao VGN-NR32S and recently pu windows vista 64 on to it, now i dont know too much about computers and was trying to get the Wlan drivers for it and couldnt find them anywhere
I noticed that most of their current computers came out last July/August. Does Sony completely replace their whole line up every year or sometimes do they just update the previous year's model? Are any of the current models they offer more than a year old? How long before new laptops come out do they get announced?
on the windows vista start up i can hear the sound of desktop loading but after some times when i play any multimedia file like MP3 or VDO the sound goes off oftenly but not always
why it happens?
i checked evething on it there is no software problem niether hardware is missing. in device manager it shows device working properly.
to fix this problem i have to reboot they the machine or have to put it on stand by mode by folding the notebook n get it active
I finally really got tired of Vista Home with it's limitations and quirks, and want to go back to Win2k. Anybody tried to load win2k on a FW series VIAO machine like this or similar? I found most w2k drivers inc. the LAN and WL card, so far so good. I've not tried the install yet, waiting for a new Seagate SATA 7200 320G HD, don't want to mess with this one (SATA 250G 5400) until I have the 2K system up and running on the new HD.
Guess I'll need to slipstream a boot CD with the SATA drivers, SP4, etc. Never done it, but have seen plenty of guides out there. Maybe... MAYBE, I'll try for a w2k/vista dual boot system, buy only after w2k is humming along nicely. I'm guessing this machine must fly with a relatively lightweight O/S like w2k (compared to a hog like vista).
Just bought a Sony Viao 448 J/B the palm rest gets very warm almost hot when running. This is my first Viao so I'm not familiar with the normal symptoms.
Is it possible that I replace the Z11's stock Wifi with the Lenovo Intel Centrino Advanced-N + WiMAX 6250? I may use upcoming Sprint 4G data service that required a WiMax card. I can order the Intel Centrino Advanced-N + WiMAX 6250 from Lenovo.
I bought this laptop because it is able to play some games, but since a few months, it has some annoying performance issues.
In every 3D game, after a few minutes the fps rate suddenly breaks down to 4-5 fps for 20-25 seconds accompanied with an audible fan noise, then the frame rate returns back to normal. After another 2-5 minutes (depending on game), the same phenomenon happens, the frame rate breaks down for 20-25 seconds, then back to normal for a few minutes, and so on.
With the help of Ati Tray Tools, I monitored CPU and GPU activity and temperature, and it showed that every 2-5 mins, the GPU load dropped from 60-80% down to 10-30% for these few seconds. At the same time the CPU load increases (trying to pick up the slack?). The GPU temp seems to be the reason, as it steadily rises (to 65-72 degrees, depending on game), and when the frame rate breaks down it cools a few degrees and then slowly rises again.
I have had it serviced two times by Acer already, the first time they just reinstalled factory settings (great, what a help!), and the second time, they said its a faulty HDD and swapped it out. Nothing changed, though, and they havent touched the graphics card either.
I dont know what else to do, or if anyone else has had this problem, and how they explained it to Acer. The last time I attached detailed reports and game demos for them to reproduce the error, but it seems they didnt check it.
and here are some basics: Graphics Card is Ati Radeon HD 3470 X2 Hybrid Windows Vista Home Premium fully patched 3GB RAM, 320 GB HDD AMD Turion X2 CPU
Here is what didnt help: - Disabling Ati Crossfire - Disabling all but the most elemental Windows Services - Installing various graphics drivers (including non-certified "tweaked" drivers) - changing in-game resolutions or graphical effects (but notably the lag effect is largest at 60-80% GPU load - when it is 100%, for example in benchmarks, the GPU fan always spins at 100% and there is not the same lag effect) - blowing through the air vents to clean out dust
I've had my 1500 since fall of '07 and it worked fine until winter of last year. Ever since then I get jagged pink lines and distortion effects like shown in the picture below. Occasionally I'll be able to boot up without any glitches, but that's rare and even then the lines reappear within minutes of use.
The lines/distortion appear on the task bar, videos, pictures, and other places.
I'm trying to help my ex GF out here with her laptop and playing WoW on it.
for starters, her system is as follows:
Vista Home Premium 32-bit 2gb DDRII 667 ( 2x 1gb ) MK-36 2ghz 512k L2 single coe Geforce Go 6150 ( default vista drivers via win update )
I know she plays the new expansion with all the updates but don't ask me what that all is cause I treat WoW like the plague so Idk.
The problem she says she's having is lines or missing textures in certain areas. At first I thoguth it might be a lack of ram or bad ram as she had the orig 2x 512mb modules so I got her the 2gb kit and she said it made the machine faster but didn't fix the glitches.
Sony Viao (NW series at least) have a quick boot feature for access to the internet without fireing up your operating system. Hit the special quick access button and away you go.
Guess what, if it is a computer for your child you cant even turn the button off or set it with a password. It resides on your motherboard any parental controls mcafee or otherwise are useless. The system for the quick access is by devicevm and is called splashtop.
how to control this, keep in mind this runs straight off the motherboard and windows is not fired up.
I have a SONY VIAO VGN-SZ433N_B. I'm constantly reminded that there are new updates for my lap top, but when I try to install I am told 'VAIO Update 4.0 is required. VAIO Update (Ver. 4.0 and above) is required on your VAIO Notebook.'
So I installed Sony Update 4.0.0.08240 but still it isnt recognised. I have even tried to uninstall the previous Update module and then re install without success. I keep getting the same message, indicating that the Viao Update 4 I have isnt being recognised.
I saw this on the Sony site and wondered if anyone has this or knows of a bag similar? I would like to find one that is as slim as a carrying sleeve but with handles
I've been looking at the VGN-FW460J/T at Fry's Electronics and I would to know if this is a good notebook? I really don't care about the new i7's that are coming out, because I planning to get one sometime next year when they reach at a least 2.0GHz and at an affordable cost.
I am thinking about buying the Sony FW with 1080p. I was wondering if it is possible to hook up the FW to my PS3 via HDMI and play my PS3 games at 1080p on it
I lose about 5~10% of my battery life in a 12 hour period after shutting down my computer and unplugging it from the wall.
Anyone else experiencing something similar? No one else has brought it up for this new Z so I was wondering if I'm just a minority (granted the laptop is new and not many people have it yet)
I am in Shanghai and went to demo a new Vaio Z at a local SonyStyle store with a 3.06GHz CPU and Dual SSDs raided. The unit had Vista 64bit and 8GB of RAM... surprisingly though, no BluRay just a DVD Burner... go figure...
I tried to have someone explain to me if the design of the Z was changed because on my Z (model VGG-Z27GN) internally there is only space for one 2.5" drive (and nothing else really).
If the new Z's can accommodate 2 HDs inside, some major internal redesign had to be made. Does anyone know if this is the case or if maybe Sony is using some sort of two 1.8" Drives instead that they RAID together
