I was just sitting there browsing the internet and the damn thing just shut off and now it won't turn back on. The battery was totally charged... so does that just mean it's fried or what? It's a year and a half old so .

View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter I put my laptop on sleep mode and shut the lid down, I always see the computer turn back on automatically after only a few minutes (I can hear the laptop working and the light turns green, although the monitor remains off).
Why is this so? The laptop also seems to turn off after a while it is turned back on from sleep mode.
I also notice my Z having a particular video error at times. That is, sometime, the laptop monitor turns black for a few seconds, turns back on at the highest brightness setting, and a error message pops up saying something about how it was unable to find a driver.
I bought a sony vaio laptop a little over 2 years ago. I never had a problem untill about 4 monthes ago. I got the "blue screen of death". It said something about the BIOS but would never stay on long enough for me to totaly read it. I went to Best Buy and asked if they had any ideas.
The guy said to contact Sony and get a recovery disk, so i did. I ran the cd but half way through it I got another blue screen that read:
A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
If this is the first time youve seen this stop error screen, follow these steps:

I installed Win 7 Prof 64B on my Vaio Z4 and I have some problems with some games. I cannot play them because the get minimized into the bar after starting them
Jumping back vai ALT+TAB or clicking on the item in the bar just jumps back to desktop after some screen flicking.
All driver are installed correctly and erverythinge else works fine. Newest Bios is installed
I have had this Vaio notebook for over a year now and this morning I went to open the lid and turn the laptop on and there were no lights or any response.
I took out the battery and put it back in to see if the connectors were loose but the problem remains.
I would like to send it in for repairs. The problem I am experiencing is as follows: suddenly shut off, does not turn on, the power supply LED light (on the AC adapter) shuts off the moment I plug it into the computer.

My battery is not good anymore, it was not even holding for 20Min, but my problem now is that the computer does not turn on without the battery at all. I have to leave it charging for hours, then it will go on, but in the middle of the windows loading process it shuts down and does not show any signs of life until you leave it charging for another hour.The voltage output out of the power supply shows 14.70 ~ 15.20 never gets to 16V. Now, comes the questions...
This particular laptop needs a good battery to " buffer" power and the AC adapter only charges the battery but does not have enough Amps to run the computer without the battery?

I have a wired problem on my 1340 using windows 7 64bit.
From time to time, not sure when but when Im on windows (desktop, surfing with firefox etc..) the screen suddenly turn black, I dont see anything thou the laptop still runs normally - if I press ctrl + alt + del, I do see the menu that lets me choose all the basic options but when I exits it I still see black. This problem solves itself after a min or two and I see everything back to normal - If I was installing something then the install just finishes (the computer works normally during this, its just the screen). When this problem happens something the screen flickers, I see windows back for a sec and then black again - and after a few times its back to normal.
Anyone knows how to fix this ? Its quite irritating.

I was using my laptop the other day and it froze up. Then it shut down by itself. When I tried booting it back up, it says "No bootable devices found" and gives me the options to press F1, F2 or F5 for retrying, setup utility and diagnostics. I ran the diagnostics and it says "All tests passed". The SSD also seems to be recognized as it shows it in the "configuration" tab in diagnostics. I have also tried taking the msata SSD from the 2.5" bay and moving it to the msata slot. Rebooted but shows the same thing. Is this a known issue and is there a fix for this?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an HP ENVY dv6-7246us Notebook PC with a Qualcomm Atheros QCA9565 802.11b/g/n wireless adaptor. the past 2 weeks the adaptor has been turned off and I can not find a way to turn it back on.
In device manager the adaptor is shown to be working properly. The indicator light (f12) is showing white as it should and toggles into and out of airplane mode properly.I have tried to open the properties tab in network connections to no avail. I also could not find a newer driver for the adaptor.the ethernet adapter is working well. I have Windows 8 64 bit and am using AVG anti-virus.I need the wireless to be working properly or I will just have to get another computer.
Hitting Fn and the Keyboard back light button will Cycle the settings, Off, Dim, Bright.
But they use to turn off after about a minute of no use. Now they will stay on indefinitely. I wonder what could be causing this since I have not done anything to the system.
When I set the Power options to have the Screen turn off after a Minute the screen dims and turns off, But the Keyboard remains Lit.
I have an Acer Aspire v3-551g-8454 laptop. Lately it has been shutting itself off after anywhere from 5 to 24 hours of it being turned on. In the past I could simply turn it back on and resume from there. Now, when I try to turn it back on, the power button just flashes a few times and the laptop doesn't turn on. The laptop doesn't feel overly hot anywhere on it's surface.

Liked it and all BUT when I had my mouse connected into the laptop and then turned off the touchpad, it would not turn back on. The only way I could get my touchpad to work again is by restarting the computer, which is pretty frustrating.
I searched this: [URL] .... for ANY drivers/software for the Y500 mousepad and there are none.
FN + F6 toggles the touchpad on and off and I have tried to turn it on and off, with and without the external mouse connected.
My keyboard has stopped wanting to type any key back to back without a pause (whether it's a letter or delete or backspace). So if I'm typing a word with two letters that are consecutive, I have to pause or forget and backspace (which I can only do once also without a pause). It's also started this slight click/beep that happens usually in conjunction with the error although sometimes not. And, the click/beep isn't consistent (or at least I haven't found it's rhythm yet).

Recently, I just bought a new HDD and I replaced it with the original HDD, which contains the recovery partition. Now I use the ori HDD as external HDD but I want to copy the recovery partition out as the back up of the original windows and settings.

Todya my replacement screen arrived and I replaced it and now it won't turn on at all. What could I have done to cause that? Any ideas? Will it be repairable if I take it to a shop for less than the cost of a replacement (TT I guess)?

I have just been given a VAIO PCG8A2M (GRX316MP) , i was told "it's broken but if you can fix it yo can have it" so having a quick look at it there's no sign of life on the display but the lights come on and i can here the HDD heads moving about.
Looking a little more i found that all the ram is missing , so now im not sure if its worth buying some ram to see if it works or not ? The lack of ram would prob explain the lack of display but i wonder if i should be getting POST beeps at least, which im not.
So my question is if a VAIO had no ram should (if all else was working) it be getting POST beeps ?
Just performed a successful XP downgrade on my Vaio Z520, but have noticed that on this copy of the Vaio Silver Desktop Theme/Appearance doesn't exist.
I had it on my SZ and loved it over the XP Blue. Is there a way to get it back? I still have the restore discs from the SZ.
If I keep game client running, the display won't turn off even if I set the time in power management. Is there another way to turn it off? I'm using SR model.
View 5 Replies View Relatedi got my laptop last month (VGN-NS110E) and i've recently been having this issue with the wifi switch as I had a MBR error on the partition and had to format everything...green light doesn't go on and i can't get it to turn on with smartWi...Sony tech support sucks bigtime....I am thinking it may be a hardware issue and I just want them to take a look at it but the "tech" told me I need to install the recovery disk first which i hate because all the unneeded extra bs that comes on it....I have misplaced my recovery disks that came with the laptop so I first installed vista ultimate and then sony told me only supports vista home premium. I don't want to order replacement disk knowing that it may not work...what I could try or where I would be able to find the recovery disk i need...?

Basically i went to turn it on and it didnt turn on so i cleaned all the dust out of the charger and my battery and tried it again and it managed to turn on. However, after being on it for around 15 minutes it just cut out on me. And now every time i go on it, it cuts out after a little while of it being on. I then cant turn it on for around an hour then it manages to turn on and then cut off and im back to square one.
Its nothing to do with the charger because that works fine so its clearly something to do with the hardware. Has anyone had problems like this before and is it easy to sort out?
