I recently bought the sony vaio z620 (canadian) [url] and according to the website it says that it has 256mb dedicated video memory and max is 1500mb but when i go to display settings>advanced settings> it says that I have 128MB dedicated video memory and the max is 1372mb. is it supposed to be like this? also, does this even make a lot of difference?
I'm looking to buy the new Sony Vaio E series laptop which has a ati mobility radeon 5650. Thing is, the graphics card is underclocked to 450mhz so I was wondering is it possible to overclock it to its default clockspeed of 650mhz?
I've heard that the temperature is barely affected when overclocking this graphics card to its default speed. So would it be safe if this is true?
Also is it possible to install new ati drivers as I've heard that Sony doesn't allow you to. Alternatively does anyone know if Sony actually keeps up to date drivers on its site?
how to fix it? Basically when on Stamina Mode, sometimes the graphics will get minor graphical glitches. This doesn't happen immediatly, after like 1-2 hours of use.
The glitches are not usually that bad, can still work within it if wanted.
I bought this laptop recently. It comes with a single graphics card. I heard this model has ultrabay and you can add another graphics card. My question is is it true that you can add a second graphics card in this system with ultrabay? I am confused if SLI and ultrabay refers to the same thing. If that is the case then this system is non sli.
I updated my computer to windows 8.1, and now it doesnt recognize the Nvidia 755M graphics card. I even went to this URL... website and tried to run the .bat file, but it showed up with an error stating "Error: Invalid Display Adapter Index specified".
I recently purchased a Lenovo ... so I was trying to get some games running on my big screen with my lenovo y50 laptop which I should have set to always use the 860m dedicated card. But when I'm running a second display it defaults to using the Intel 4600 chip, obviously not great for running games. I've tried looking every where in the Nvidia control panel and Intels control panel but can't find anything to fix this issue. That HDMI port is the only display port on the laptop as well.

Is it possible to get a dedicated graphics card. I have seen similar z570 models with Nvidia GeForce GT 540M(2gb dedicated memory).
I'm not able to install the latest graphics driver from nvidia. It installs the latest GeForce Experience software but that says the 332.50 driver is up to date. The 337.88 driver is WHQL certified and lists compatibility with the 860m but when trying to install it, it says "This graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware." On nvidia's website, it says "Your product manufacturer requires you to download a driver for your device from their website" but it's 332.50 is pretty outdated at this point. Any way I can get the updated drivers installed?
I have an IdeaPad Y580, and I want to disable the Nvidia chip in the BIOS (I run Linux on it and don't use the chip.) I have the BIOS updated to the latest version from Lenovo's website. I couldn't seem to find anything in the BIOS settings that would allow me to just use the Intel HD 4000 graphics. There was an option to change from "Switchable" graphics to "UMA" graphics, but from my understanding the UMA option means using the CPU to process graphics instead of even the Intel integrated.
Is there any way to turn off the Nvidia chip, or am I stuck with it being on?
I have recently purchased a Lenovo V570 From Best Buy with an i5 2410m and Intel HD 3000. When browsing the web, I came across the option for the V570 to have a dedicated Nvidia 525m Graphics Card.
I just got a my brand new laptop from Lenovo but only the integrated graphics card is running and to make matter worse it crashes from time to time. The laptop has windows 7 installed.
Here's what happened: Google sketch up test 1) install google sketch-up 2) run it for a while and then the screen goes white 3) error pops up stating that the integrated graphics has crashed 4) restarting sketchup is needed to continue
I tried the following to fix this: 1) reinstall the graphic card drivers from nvidia site 2) charge power management to max 3) set google sketch up to only use nvidia GPU (nvideo control panel)
Next I figured maybe it's sketchup with the problem so I downloaded a PC bench mark program - Maxon's Cinebench. this didn't work either 1) Does not see the nvidia card as an option to test 2) Setting it up to run only nvidia grpahics had no effect 3) I'm getting a crappy 17 frames per second - at least the ingrated graphics didn't crash this time..
Currently I have twice the nVidia gt 755m, working on SLI. Though a lot of games I play are incompatible with SLI and will heat op my laptop with bad performace. I could turn off my SLI option to have some normal fps again, but since skype and my mouse driver needs to be turned off everytime I want to turn on or off SLI it is not really my favorite option.
When you have twice the nvidia, the bios will automatically turn off the intel hd graphics. I would like to know if there is a possibility to turn on the intel hd graphics, then I could run my desktop + the programs that need to be turned of for the switching on the intel hd. I hope this would be possible to enable and that there will be no power issues when turning it on (3 graphic cards will take some power).
I’ve got a problem with my Lenovo W540 and performance when working with AutoCAD 2015. Despite the fact that hardware configuration is powerful and installed graphics card is recommended by Autodesk I get lower performance then on 5 years old notebook. I suspect the issue to be in graphics card used by AutoCAD. It seems that program works on internal graphics card instead of discrete one. I have checked this in AutoCAD in “Graphics performance” window which shows: “Hardware Setup: Video Card : Intel HD Graphics 4600”. I looked for solution and tried two different Nvidia drivers:
In both of them in NVIDIA control panel I've looked into settings and checked that for Autodesk AutoCAD, system will use NVIDIA high performance graphics. I have tried to turn this option as a global setting but I always get the same result - AutoCAD shows it uses integrated graphics. I have also looked into Intel HD Graphics menu and in BIOS setup but didn’t find any solution for my problem.
This is a fresh PC with following specification: Lenovo W540 Processor: Intel Core i7- 4700Q Graphics: Nvidia Quadro K1100M Memory: 32GB Disk: Samsung SSD 840 EVO 500GB System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit) Pro (version: 6.3.9600) BIOS: GNET61WW (2.09)
I've bought a B590 and installed a Win 7 64bit. I have installed all available drivers from the support page and have the following issue:
Device Manager: I see 2 graphics devices Intel HD Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GT 720M
The discrete card is disabled with error code 43 and has an exclamation mark near it [URL] .... Moreover, if i start the NVidia Control Panel it gives me an error with text: "current display is not connected to nvidia GP" GeFoerce Experience is not starting with a back-end error [URL] ...
Now here are the ways i tried to use but it did not work: 1. Enable high performance and update with manually downloaded nvidia driver 2. Do the same with HDMI cble connected to a plasma 3. Disable enable the device (screen goes black, than to normal and everything stays the same) 4. Format c: reinstall Win8.1 64 and install all drivers - same thing 5. Format c: reinstall Win7 64 and install the graphics drivers after everything else (h1d9d9.exe h2d903.exe) 6. Update GT720M drivers from device manager (driver is up to date) 7. Run a high-performance 3D game (War Thunder) - it uses Intel HD
What else can i do? I saw people with switchable graphics use some kind of application to specify the game-apps that should use a discrete videocard. I don't have such an app to specify my games.
I use my Sony Vaio SZ691N for the most part playing games on Speed mode. Yesterday while I was playing a game the screen started getting really fuzzy and blocky with static and then shut down and whenever I tried to restart it, the screen would be fuzzy/blocky/staticky from startup and then go into startup repair. Startup repair couldn't fix it as well as restoring from an earlier point.
I tried switching to Stamina mode and it worked fine. The screen was normal (just had to adjust the resolution) but when I try switching back to Speed mode, its the same problem and my laptop wouldn't start up.
I bought a FZ11S from ebay a few days ago, the owner had a graphics issue with it, i thought it would be a LCD error but i have tested the screen, and the inverter on another laptop and it seems to work fine. It looks like the graphics card on the board has gone or is going, as im getting greay matrix style lines down the screen. I have read that you are unable to repair/replace a graphics card on the vaios..
Here is my dilema ..
1: Pay upwards of 250 for a new mother board, but keep the laptop?
2: Scrap it and sell the parts off one by one and try and recover some of the cost i paid?
When playing BC2 the graphics are constantly tearing and flickering and sometimes the walls show up when they aren't supposed to be there.
Because we have hybrid graphics drivers we are unable to updated to the latest drivers as desktop users can so I sort of found a solution to this problem.
Manually set your DX version to 9 in the BC2 settings.ini The ini can be found in my documentsfbc2 Change DxVersion=Auto to DxVersion=9
I get a solid 40 FPS on 1280x800 @ medium detail. Make sure HBAO is off and I also turn my shadows to low. 1x AA and 4x AF
Sony is providing Mobile Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD graphics card with vaio cs 24. Actually I am familiar with NVIDIA and other graphics cards but not with Mobile Intel one. So I want to know about performance, quality, limitations of this graphics card .
From the looks of it, it will support any pc running windows 7, a 200m or 300m 40nm Nvidia gpu, and an IGP.
Their new driver scheme allows both GPUs to be used on a per application basis. The discrete GPU can power down completely when using apps that don't need its power, and power up in 300ms when you start an app that needs it.
Best part is, no more relying on sony to package new drivers or hacking them together for you Z series guys. It is supposed to let you independently update drivers for each GPU.
For other models, this looks like it will enable switchable graphics provided we can get the IGP enabled in BIOS. So the challenge now is to find the offset for the IGP like people did for the VT hacks.
I'd be interested to see some of the Z owners install the optimus drivers and see what happens since they already have an enabled IGP.
I did a fresh reinstall of Windows 7 Professional, 64-bit on my Sony Vaio VGN-Z790DND laptop.
I tried following the guides posted on the forums on what order to install the utilities, etc to get everything working.
So far, I think I got almost everything working except for the "speed" video card. It runs the Nvidia 9300M GS chipset. I downloaded the driver straight from Sony and tried to install it .....
when i play WMP videos the video gets all messed up. is this a problem with the graphics card?
i have a geforce 8400? or something like this. ive heard of booting problems but i have none...its just windows media player. PES 2009 and project64 run fine graphics wise
