Acer :: 3G Built-in For Aspire One?

Oct 13, 2008

when 3G for the Acer Aspire One is finally offered, new models, of course, will have 3G capability built in. Does anybody have a guess as to what kind of modification or accessory we will be able to use to get 3G on existing AAOs.

I would rather not have to go the route of the ATT USB DataConnect thingy, but will if I have to.

I also turned down the record level down to 40 and boost level of the mic to 0dB but it will won't go away.

Acer :: How Can I Find Out If My Other Hard Drive Has A Built In OS

Aug 30, 2009

I am currently using an acrer aspire 2930z. It comes with two HDD, both of which have 111GB each. I am only using 1 HDD at the moment which is only around 52percent full. I want to move all my movies, music and games to my other empty one, (we'll call drive D)but when I do this my drive D only opens up as a folder. Itries to mark this HDD as active, but get a maessage telling me that if drive D has no OS installed on it, it could stop my comp from working. What I would like to know is...... Does this drive come with vista already installed?

this is only to save me buying an external drive, (which is probably the better option), but with this extra space on my laptop it would be handy to use.

Acer :: 5738G Bottom Vent Built Closed

May 5, 2010

I bought my Acer Aspire 5738G laptop last november and this month I experienced for the first time my laptop shutting down by itself while playing cs-source.

The laptop is quite hot and upon searching the net found out that it's most likely due to overheating.

My question is about the ventilation at the bottom of 5738G.

Is it supposedly closed? No holes/slots? Cause I think it's the cause of overheating.

The system doesn't have a way to take-in air

It's like it was designed to be a bottom vent for air intake but then forgot to make holes in it.

I also searched for it's manual and confirmed that it is a ventilation slot.

It even says there "do not cover or obstruct the opening of the fan".

(I've got a screen shot attached. I'm talking about part 6. That part of my laptop doesn't have holes/slots but clearly there should be according to the manual.

Dell :: Before Modding: DIY Built In Webcam

Aug 4, 2008

what I have here is an e1705 which I have been modding, externally it looks like a 1710, which one day it will be one when I can afford the prices, but what I want to do is I want to take a cheap USB webcam with a built in microphone, and build it into the bezel above the screen.

Has anyone done this before?

The only issues I'm afraid of are camera size, the rest should be fairly easy, tapping into a USB port, setting the mics and drilling holes etc.

Making room for a tiny cam will surely be the hardest part, and making room for it up there and having to cut apart at the lock system at the top to keep the screen from opening.

Luckily since I do have an XPS LCD back on this there is plleeenty of room for wires etc, the standard 1705 LCD back is nearly flush with the backlight making it hard to add any more wires, but the XPS LCD back has tons of room so i'm not worried about that, and I've opened this up enough to route wires down to one of the USB ports easily.

Dell :: M1530 Is Poorly Built?

I really want to see if I can exercise the "lemon law" on my computer or just to see if the XPS M1530 is just a poorly built machine.

This will be the 5th time I have to get Dell to come over to fix a problem. 2 times for the hinge snapping, one time I dropped it off of my bed, which is a foot high, and the hinges snapped off again.

Then another time because the guy who came to fix my screen broke the motherboard. Also, now my computer doesn't charge when plugged in. All it says is "plugged in, but not charging"...

Dell :: Studio 17 Has Static Using Built In Mic

Sep 30, 2008

Im having a problem trying to get my built in mic working. I have a new Studio 17 with the Creative Sound enhancement option, not the sound card just the Creative Audigy software.

when I try to record voice, I can barely hear my voice over the noise which sounds like a mixture of static, and buzzing mixed in. However, I can play mp3's perfectly with no hiss or static. So the playback is working fine.

When I plugged an external mic in the static is gone. I'd like to be able to use the built in mic when possible so I dont have to take the external one along with me.

I noticed on my system that I have an IDT High Definition sound package, as well as the Creative Audigy sound enhancing software with mixer console, including EAX special effects, etc, to enhance the sound.

Anyone know what could be causing the noise on the mic? I've searched the forum and cant find a problem identical to this so Im sorry if theres a post that explains how to fix this, I cant find it.

I can adjust my sound with both the IDT HD mixer console, and the Creative Audigy sound mixer as well. But I cannot eliminate or find the cause of this static.

I got a newer Sigmatel Audio driver but that didnt elminate the problem so I set the system back to the way I got it.

I thought about buying the X fi Xtreme sound card as I do a lot of karaoke singing and need to have the music mixed with voice so I can record it but this static problem has me baffled. And they want $80 for that little sound card. I could ignore it but the laptop is brand new and it should be static free. I eliminated ac hum as the source by unplugging the ac adapter and ran on battery alone, and static was the same it made no difference.

HP/Compaq :: Built In Bluetooth Modules

find the part number for the internal Bluetooth chip for the HP Touchsmart PC (TX2z)? I would like to purchase that so I don't have to have A) one of my USB ports consumed and B) not have anything hanging off the laptop waiting to be snagged or broken.

Does anyone know of a website with instructions for dismantling this model laptop? Where is the Bluetooth chip at? Apple :: New Built-in Battery On The Macbook Pro Line

Jun 8, 2009

I've always been a Mac fan and am quite impressed with today's update. I recently purchased 2 new 13" Macbook's a few months ago for my mother and myself. The only complaint we both have is the horrible 2.3-3 hour battery life, instead of selling our lovely investments do you think we can pay to have the new built-in battery placed into the system or should we sell and repurchase? I understand the new systems have quite a few new hardware updates but that's all irrelevant, we just want that new sleek battery life!

We also want the new iPhone 3GS. Grr Apple, you always know how to do it right.

Apple :: Macbook Pro 15.4 Or New Desktop (Custom Built)

Nov 14, 2009

I just have one more question before I pull the trigger. Originally, I was looking to buy a new computer whether it was a laptop or a desktop. At first, my eyes were on a Vaio Z (P8700, 4 gigs, etc.....), Macbook Pro...etc...

The reason that got me to change to desktop is its performance numbers on paper. I already have a laptop so the new computer can either be desktop or laptop. In all seriousness, how much of a "day-to-day" performance boost will I notice by going with the desktop? (a noticeable enough performance to make me say..."wow it was really worth it to go with a desktop"? Day to day activities include opening many many windows including browsers, word/powerpoint, msn, movies, etc. Some more demanding applications will include photoshop/lightroom and some games.

By talking to a lot of people on forums, they keep on saying that for day to day operations, I won't notice any difference (I want the most smoothest experience, opening/alternating windows...which I am not getting with my laptop at the moment). Even for these small day to day applications, will I notice a difference in this desktop against one of the latest laptops? Honestly, gaming is important but not the deciding factor here.

I was also thinking of getting a premium laptop and then buying a Samsung HD240 as an external monitor but people said it will put great stress on my laptop (overheating issues...)

Dell Inspiron 15 :: Allow Built-In Overdrive Mode?

Nov 29, 2014

The above series of processors apparently have an "Overdrive" mode at that will allow the cores to jump to 2.4ghz from their normal working clock speed of 1.8ghz. However, there seems to be no way to use it or access it. The clock speed will not move above 1.8ghz no matter how much demand I put on the system. There are no obvious (or unobvious) BIOS settings that even reference AMD Overdrive. I'd like to be able to utilize the extra power, but I can't seem to find it. I'm running Linux on this machine, though I assumed that Overdrive would have been handled at the BIOS level.

HP/Compaq :: HP Dv3t-2000Crackly Audio In Built-In Speakers

Dec 12, 2009

I purchased a 13" HP Dv3t-2000 Moonlight White laptop back in May 2009. I got this particular model before HP released the backlit keyboard option in their slightly newer DV3t's. I also upgraded from Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit to Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit in October 2009.

Anyways, ever since I got my laptop I've had an audio issue. Whenever I turn my volume up to 100%, and I play music or a youtube video through my built in speakers, the audio output gets crackly. I can feel the audio vibrating through my laptop. I have to turn my volume down to around 64% to eliminate only a part of the crackling.

This crackling issue doesn't happen when I listen to audio through headphones or earbuds. But I would like to have clear audio output through my built in speakers.

ON A SIDE NOTE: My brother got a 13" HP Dv3t Espresso Black about a month after mine, and his has a backlit keyboard. When he turns his volume to the max, and plays something through his built in speakers, there is NO CRACKLING whatsoever!

I went to his Speaker settings and found that he has the IDT High Definition Audio Codec installed. I checked mine and it just says Default speakers. That raised a red flag - the fact that I didn't have this IDT codec could be my problem..........

Dell Inspiron 7537 :: Does Not Recognize Built In Touchpad

Jan 12, 2015

My Dell Inspiron 15 (7537) simply does not recognize the built in touchpad for a couple of days now.

I did run all the tests even the ePSA test and all passed with OK, but never the less there are not tests for the touchpad.

If I unplug the external mouse the mouse pointer dissapears, as a sign that there is no device present.(I tried to install and reinstall the synaptics drivers - Input_Driver_15K08_WN_17.0.13.51_A02 ) but no luck at all.

Furthermore, I tried to boot the system using the windows 7 and 8 installation media, as well as Linux Mint, but there is no mouse pointer unless I plug in  an external mouse.

It seams to me that the hardware is faulty.

I still have 1 more month left from the standard warranty, what should I do ?
