when I try to record from the Microphone, there is a loud hum and crackling noise in the recording. I can barely hear myself talk.
I recently discovered that if I turn my Screen off by pressing Fn+F6, the background noise immediately goes away. But this is impractical when using the Camera.
And please no, "built in mics are cheap buy a external one comments"
I was testing out my microphone and I noticed that the sound is really staticy. I figure its some electrcal interference coming from somewhere. I muted every other sound input and changed physical locations. But the recordings I make sound like old staticy records.
I also turned down the record level down to 40 and boost level of the mic to 0dB but it will won't go away.
The whining or humming noise has been thoroughly discussed on this forum but I haven't been able to find out whether the noise impacts the recording. I'm a reporter who uses my mic input on a daily basis, so this is a HUGE deal for me. Can anyone who has experienced this microphone issue confirm whether the hum comes through in recorded audio?
View 9 Replies View RelatedGot a HP15-N028. I reccently noticed this problem while Skyping. The other end could barely hear me. It sounded like coming throuhg a tunnel. I recorded my own voice, and played it back, both through Skype and Windows Media. There is indeed a problem. My laptop is approx. 5 months old. The driver is Realtek HD Audio 8101E/8168/8169NDIS 6.30. I uninstalled the driver and reinstalled it. No difference.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI thought it would be a good idea to flash the BIOS (latest version A24) before reinstalling Windows, but after doing that and installing Windows the on board mic isn't detected anymore! headphone jack, built-in speaker, work but the mic doesn't work. it worked right before doing the BIOS flash.
to remedy this I reset BIOS settings to Default, enabled and disabled Mic in BIOS settings, installed Dell Audio drivers instead of generic Windows drivers. nothing works. in fact in BIOS diagnostic tests says Webcam/mic board not detected.
Generally I'm very pleased with the 4810TZ, but recording from the built-in microphone or an external microphone produces very faint recordings (maybe 5-10% of normal volume). I'm using Sound Recorder in Windows 7 64-bit, with latest Windows / Acer driver for the Realtek sound device - have also tried the latest driver from Realtek.com.tw.
I've done all the normal tweaks - turn off all effects, set auto gain control, set input level to maximum, try boosting one mic channel more than other, setting +30 dB boost, etc.
I did get slightly higher recording levels in Skype 4.2, but still not enough to be usable (less than 20%). Even shouting into the mic doesn't get that much playback volume.
I've seen some reports that the 4810TZ's internal mic and sound recording used to work fine on Vista but broke with the Win7 upgrade.
Has anyone out there had success with recording on the 4810TZ, using any non-USB microphone, internal or external? Would really like to hear from people using any Windows version, XP/Vista or 7, just to see if it's possible or a hardware issue.
I have Acer Aspire 8930G and running Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit with SP2.
All drivers installed and working fine.
I noticed that my Crystal Eye webcam doesn't have the recording button and the HD resolution selection is missing. My only choices are 320 x 240 and 640 x 480.
I am using the latest Crystal Eye driver.
The fan of my computer has started to make a lot of noise as of yesterday. It's alright the first 5 minutes after start-up but then it goes crazy as long as the fan is running fast. The core temperature is around 47 C on both cores so it's not even that hot and I recently open it up to check if it was dust covering the fan but it was fine (I blew away as much dust as I could but there was really nothing on it).

What should I do? Replace the fan? Is it dangerous to run the computer when the fan is making this noise?
My computer has become pretty slow latetly and therefore the fan is running fast more often, maybe it works to make a factory reset?

I bought this laptop about a month ago from PC World. I hadn't had any problems with it and thought that I had made a great choice. Now, all of a sudden the fan makes a loud and very annoying noise (similar to that of a drill) for about 2 minutes and the stops. This happens when I turn it on and off too. Nothing I do seems to make any difference and it is happening more regularly now than three hours ago when it started.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a new Aspire 5630 with vista installed. The disk drive is very high speed and whistles loudly when installing applications from dvd. I expect this and it is not a problem The trouble is that when i try to play a music DVD the same sound completely swamps the music and so DVD playback is a NO NO.
On my desktop PC I had a similar problem and had to install Nero Drivespeed which allows me to set playback speed to "silent"
This does not seem to work on vista ( neither does any other program that i have tried.)
Surely this must be a problem to a lot of people and I would assume that there would be a setting in the bundled DVD playback software to solve this problem. Or perhaps there is?
I didn't use my laptop over Christmas as I was away. It was left plugged into the mains but powered down.
The first time I booted it after my return the fan suddenly started up when the Starting Windows message appeared. It then remained at near maximum speed long after everything had loaded. This has never happened before.
I have managed to workaround this by pressing Fn + F4 which places the laptop in sleep mode. After several seconds the fan powers down.
If I then press a key to wake the laptop up everything is fine and the fan doesn't run at high speed. I can hear it gently running in the background.
For the remainder of that session the fan behaves itself. But when I start the laptop up from cold the whole process starts again and I have to repeat the actions to turn it off.
I'm mystified why it's doing this. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Acer ePower Management v6.0 via the eRecovery Management utility but it has made no difference.
I've also checked the BIOS (F2 at bootup) and can see nothing there that influences the fan speed.
when 3G for the Acer Aspire One is finally offered, new models, of course, will have 3G capability built in. Does anybody have a guess as to what kind of modification or accessory we will be able to use to get 3G on existing AAOs.
I would rather not have to go the route of the ATT USB DataConnect thingy, but will if I have to.
No matter what I do it will not take a microphone. The mic is working, I plugged it into an amp. It can't be the connector as I just got a new one today and tried it on the Aux input of a headphone amp.
This is absolutely ridiculous. I remember having this trouble before. I can't even seen to access "line in" as an option when recording anymore either. What's going on? I need to record some stuff and I can't use the crappy in built mic for that.
When I speak through Skype, my microphone is buzzing, and I sound like an old radio or something. But when I pull the AC out, my voice 100% clear with no buzzing! I can't figure out why. I have checked the settings, but there are no changes at all?

View 10 Replies View RelatedI am currently using an acrer aspire 2930z. It comes with two HDD, both of which have 111GB each. I am only using 1 HDD at the moment which is only around 52percent full. I want to move all my movies, music and games to my other empty one, (we'll call drive D)but when I do this my drive D only opens up as a folder. Itries to mark this HDD as active, but get a maessage telling me that if drive D has no OS installed on it, it could stop my comp from working. What I would like to know is...... Does this drive come with vista already installed?
this is only to save me buying an external drive, (which is probably the better option), but with this extra space on my laptop it would be handy to use.
My Extensa 4420 has a webcam. I can turn it on and see ugly pictures of me staring at the computer screen. The question I have, is what can I do with the camera. The computer does not seem to have come with any software that I can use to record video. Is there any free software that will do this?

The in-built microphone is dreadful, and I recently bought a microphone. I thought every laptop nowadays had an input for microphones. The AA e1-522 doesn't, or am I missing something? Why remove it in the first place...?
I bought my Acer Aspire 5738G laptop last november and this month I experienced for the first time my laptop shutting down by itself while playing cs-source.
The laptop is quite hot and upon searching the net found out that it's most likely due to overheating.
My question is about the ventilation at the bottom of 5738G.
Is it supposedly closed? No holes/slots? Cause I think it's the cause of overheating.
The system doesn't have a way to take-in air
It's like it was designed to be a bottom vent for air intake but then forgot to make holes in it.
I also searched for it's manual and confirmed that it is a ventilation slot.
It even says there "do not cover or obstruct the opening of the fan".
(I've got a screen shot attached. I'm talking about part 6. That part of my laptop doesn't have holes/slots but clearly there should be according to the manual.
Last week I dropped my 3810TZ from a table and the LCD panel hinge cracked. Then I got a call from Acer about the mike cable overheat repair and if I wanted to send it in. I thought just do it and went for it.
I put a sticker over the broken hinge that just said 'repair?' and send the machine in.
Today it came back with a brand new LCD panel!

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just bought myself a new laptop, ACER ASPIRE 6930G. Got home, booted up Vista, did the formatting for it, all is well. It begins installing 21 files that came with it, so I shrug it off and go to pass the time.
I return and it appears to be stuck on number 13. InstantOn Arcade. It was like this for a good hour and a bit. So I try to use the laptop while it installs and lo' and behold it's frozen. I reboot and it continues to install from file number 13 again. 5-10 minutes into it, it freezes, again. This continues to happen each time I boot it up.
Now I reboot again, this time closing the installation before doing anything, and I get about 10-15 minutes into using the laptop and again, it locks up.
I'm really concerned as I've been looking to purchase a laptop and this one stuck out for me and now it works this well? /sarcasm.
I updated my GPU to 186.03 driver
and probably since I updated it my fan doesn't work very well
first because my iddle temperature is 60-64 and I don't hear my fan working.
I tried to use Riva, EVGA,etc. Probably the most famous program that people use to control their GPU fans.
So this is my question... how can I speed up or actually MAKE my fan work
