Oct 10, 2014Is there really no way to use an external microphone without purchasing one of those USB-pens to transfer it through that?
The in-built microphone is dreadful, and I recently bought a microphone. I thought every laptop nowadays had an input for microphones. The AA e1-522 doesn't, or am I missing something? Why remove it in the first place...?
Acer :: How Can I Disable Internal Microphone On Aspire 5920G
Sep 19, 2008I've just bought an Acer Aspire 5920G and the Crystal Eye webcam works perfect with MSN and so does the internal microphone. However, I've started hosting a show on an Internet radio and the sound quality from the internal mic is too low. Therefore I bought a microphone that I plugged in the appropriate jack on the laptop (next to the jack for the headphones) but when recording or broadcasting it seems that my laptop uses BOTH the external and the internal mic. Could anybody tell me how to DISABLE the internal mic and use the external instead?
I've tried to disable the Crystal Eye from the Device Manager on Windows Vista but that doesn't solve the problem. I've also tried to modify the settings from the recording devices but the LineIn is not plugged in. I'd just like to plug a mic and use that instead of the webcam's one. Any help would be really appreciated as I have to host a show in 2 days and I don't have a clue on how to solve this problem.
Acer Aspire R7-572G :: Only Use Microphone On 4-pin 3.5mm Headset Output
Sep 16, 2014I own an Acer Aspire R7-572G which has a combined 4-pin 3.5mm headset jack.
I would like to use a normal microphone with an 3.5mm connector. The microphone did not work by directly plugging the connector into the socket, therefore I bought an adapter which splits the 4-pin output into speaker & microphone sockets.
Now the microphone does work properly, however, unless I am connecting external speakers I am not able to use the internal notebook speakers. (maybe because the notebook assumes that a headset is plugged in)

One more thing to mention: If I plug in the cable, a popup on the notebook appears asking which device I just plugged in. Sadly my only three options are "headphones", "speaker output" or "headset". NO MICROPHONE OPTION !!!

Feb 18, 2015I have a Acer Aspire E1 571, and i installed windows 8 pro, then upgrade to 8.1 pro, now my ram show that i have 6 Gig ram but only 2.45 available.
I tried to reinstall windows but it wont, i tried to use acer recovery( at boot press Alt + F10). nothing happens. Same when I tried to install i trough windows itself, after i enter the product key, it ask what i want to keep( nothing) then it shows that there is things that i need to resolve, but there is only a blank page that shows nothing.
I also tried to boot from the disk, but when i press istall now, an error pops up, saying that the product key i entered is invalid. but it never asked for one.

Acer Aspire E5-521-23kh :: Windows 8.1 - Sound Not Working
Dec 3, 2014I recently got this laptop, Acer Aspire E5-521-23kh with windows 8.1. I have it set up as a desktop so to speak, using a monitor with hdmi cable, wireless keyboard and mouse, and have speakers that use the headphone jack. Just yesterday I started having issues with the sound, it would suddenly turn off even with my speakers powered on. Restarting the computer, or disabling the speakers and then enabling them works, but it turns off eventually. And today I've had the sound working but has static/distortions with the sound.
I don't think it's an issue with the plug in speakers, as I've unplugged them and sound still wasn't coming out of the laptop speakers. But using troubleshooting for windows, it says there are no problems with sound. I've checked in device manager, and under audio inputs/output I've checked that all devices had up to date drivers. I've only had this laptop for a month, and what the cause could be.

Oct 18, 2014I have an Aspire V5-571G... I updated to Windows 8.1 (64bit) a few days ago.
Since the update, when playing audio on iTunes (was 11.3 but now updated to 11.4 both post win 8.1 anyway)/Windows Media Player and on YouTube & other sites, audio has stopped working completely or become extremely distorted. Sometimes it works fine but never for extended periods of time. I'm not sure what triggers the distortion and silence but it has ONLY been happening since the 8.1 update.
I updated the RealTek sound drivers with the driver for my model from the Acer website and it has not improved the situation. I've been looking around for a solution / cause of the problem and the only questionable driver I have is this: There's no update for this on the Acer site r.e. my model and the Windows online update thing cannot find an update either.
If it's not possible to fix this via updating or tweaking 8.1, is it possible to do a system restore back to Win 8 without removing my files and if so how?

Jan 2, 2015I have recently upgraded to windows 8.1 on my Acer Aspire and unfortunately since then, Dolby Advanced Audio V2 refuses to work. I have uninstalled my audio drivers, and re-installed with the latest versions, I have uninstalled DAAV2 and re-installed, and it still does not work. I'm not really sure where to go from here. It launches properly and you can turn it on and off, but ultimately, it does not show any difference between having it on anymore or off. As well as the fact that the little panel you open where it shows the bars while you play music, doesn't move at all. I use my Acer Aspire mainly for music and youtube videos and the like, so this is rather important to me.

I have to shut the laptop down and back on again for it to work (simple restart won't work) It's a new computer so I haven't upgraded any os, it's running with the Windows 8.1 it came with and I have chrome as the browser. It seems to happen when I wake it from sleep, not in the middle of using it. When the touch is not working, the device manager doesn't even detect that touch is an option (it's hidden, but grey and cannot be enabled)....

Jan 26, 2015I have an Acer Aspire V3-572g. My laptop came with windows 8.1 installed already. Currently, my pc is being reset to factory settings because I can not figure out how to keep the hdmi from going out after windows updates. The only way I can keep get the hdmi port to work is the factory reset it. The only way from keeping the hdmi working is by turning off windows updater. However, I'd like to figure out how to keep the hdmi working without doing so. My graphics card is Nvidia 840 M. Here are a list of things I've done after my laptop stops recognizing the hdmi.
Uninstall and reinstall the display drivers, both from intel and Nvidia
Update the drivers to be up to date
Downloaded intel's utility manager to keep driver update to date
Downloaded factory installed drivers from Acer's website
Contacting microsoft and have them remotely connect to my laptop
Restored back my laptop to previous working conditions (although the hdmi never worked by going to a restore point)
Swapped hdmi cords and displays
After several hours of researching and trying different things I'm stumped. I bought this computer with the sole purpose of connecting it to a TV. I've also had this issue with another laptop which I returned. This problem isn't a hardware problem as I'm connected to the same monitor with an old desktop using the same cords. I'm guessing there is a compatability issue with windows and the display drivers when there is an update.
