May 7, 2010I just got an acer aspire timeline 5810tz, which came with vista, so i was in the process of reformatting it to have XP, which i've done several times on my previous laptops. When i changed the bios to IDE, which is what i read was the correct setting (perhaps this is where my problem is?), i found that i could no longer boot the computer or access setup, bios or the boot menu. When i attempt to do any of these things, the computer just sits on the logo screen.
i'm getting fairly desperate at this point, having tried a large variety of solutions, key combos, removing the battery, etc.
Acer :: 5810TZ, Win 7 64-bit Memory Upgrade
Apr 7, 2010I have a 5810TZ that I have upgraded to Win 7 64-bit. I have tried to upgrade to 8GB ram and Windows hangs. CMOS reads it as 8GB, but I cannot get Windows 7 to boot.
I have installed two 10600 DDR3 chips. If I remove one chip, it boots normally. It doesn't matter which slot I use or which chip I use. But when I put both chips in, Win 7 hangs.
Acer :: 5810TZ With Windows Vista / Connect To TV Via HDMI Port
Jan 2, 2015I am trying to use my TV to view some of my notebook content and some internet stuff using an HDMI cable instead of a serial cable. When I connect the HDMI cable to the TV and change my output the TV displays "no signal" and then "device not configured" or something like that. Am I doing something wrong or can I only connect with a serial cable?

Oct 3, 2009Just got my new notebook and registered successfully for the win 7 upgrade.
I notice that the machine has 4GB RAM so it surely makes more sense to install Win 7 64 bit...? Anyway I have two other copies of the full version of Win 7 on pre-order for our home desktops which come with both 32 and 64 bit versions.
One of our desktops is generally used for office tasks so could I use the Win 7 32 bit upgrade intended for my Acer Timeline for that and do a fresh install of one of my full Win 7 home premiums on my new Acer Timeline?
Basically, is the upgrade locked to the associated Acer laptop?

Dec 15, 2009I tried to update the BIOS on ACER Aspire 5810tz-4657 and it failed. The computer powers up with a few lights (no monitor activity or cd activity...but USB's flash once indicating a 'check' maybe?) and either powers off immediately and powers back up...or just sits powered on with power light and wireless light remaining on. The HD does some spinning as well.

I am stuck being tech support for my brother who is living in Torres Vedras, Portugal right now. He is having some problems with a pretty new Acer Aspire 5810TZ that was given to him around Christmas time. The computer had been used for about a month before he received it and had a few programs installed on it along with the usual bloatware. I cleaned up what I could before he left for Portugal again and installed AVG anti-virus, MS Office '07, and Windows 7.
Now that he is back in Portugal he is having problems with the things he uses most on the computer (Built in microphone not working, built in webcam only working randomly for a short amount of time, and DivX failing any time he tries to watch tv or movies online) I've walked him through updating all the drivers and reinstalling DivX, but nothing seems to fix these problems and Windows 7 is starting to look like more trouble than it is worth to him.
Main Question: Is there any way to restore the computer back to the way it was when first purchased (with Vista or 7, whichever will work) without the use of recovery discs (He does not have any with him over seas) in a way that is simple enough for me to relay to him?

Oct 21, 2009how are folks preparing to upgrade their Acer Timeline to Windows 7? Are you assembling the drivers on Acer's website, or are you content to rely, at least initially, on Windows 7 drivers? For folks who will be upgrading to Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, what are you doing about the fact that there seem to be very few drivers and applications currently on Acer's support website?
I keep telling myself that Acer is going to release something, anything, in the next few days giving customers at least some guidance and help on how to get their Timelines fully compatible with Windows 7, but those are probably pipe dreams. So... as folks upgrade to Windows 7 over the coming weeks, it might be helpful to post experiences--good and, in particular, bad--for the benefit of the community.
Acer :: Windows 7 And Reduced Timeline Battery
Dec 22, 2009On my 4810TZ with Vista I was easily getting 8-9 hrs of battery life, but once after installing Windows 7 its hardly 6 hrs. I have installed the latest ePower Management, Optical Power Manaement softwares. The drivers are the latest for the Windows 7. I have not updated my BIOS, a little reserved about that. The display is at minimum brigtness, the Optical drive is truned off, so is the WiFi and bluetooth, but still just near 6 hrs.

Sep 2, 2009I recently wiped out my Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit partition and installed Windows 7 Professional RTM 64-bit on it. I see the performance of booting up increased (using a SSD), programs opened faster (SSD), and shut down is a bit more faster also. The thing I'm concern about is the battery life. It seems to get shorter battery life.. the meter says 5 hours 31 minute on a 98% battery when windows vista says around 8 hours on that percentage. Both were idling. Is that normal that Windows 7 uses more battery or what?

Nov 4, 2014I have Acer Aspire 5810TZ-4433 (Model MS2272) laptop unit. The HDMI connection to my TV functioned correctly until yesterday when it will no longer show the desktop icons or live internet connections on my TV screen. I have wallpaper which shows (The MS wolf theme that is included in the Win 7 Pro OS) just fine but no desktop icon overlays nor will it show the live internet windows.
The laptop itself appears to be functioning normally. For some reason the HDMI cable is not carrying the other digital data to my TV screen.
In summary: Laptop screen shows all the icons on the desktop with them overlaying the "wolf" wallpaper background. I have normal functioning of the computer when I click on these icons.
TV screen: Shows only the 'wolf" wallpaper background. No other information is viewable on the TV
I have tried using different HDMI inputs on the TV using several different HDMI cables all without success. To my knowledge there has been no damage to the laptop's HDMI output connector.
Acer Aspire 5810TZ :: Flashing BIOS - Boot It Up And It Just Showing Logo
Mar 13, 2013Flashing the bios. I have a Aspire 5810TZ. I boot it up and it just says 'acer' and won't go any further. I went to the download page for BIOS on us.acer.com and it has a zip file with 5 files:
JM4151135.exe FLA... GPC_V135.bin readme.txt FLASH.BAT
What do I do? I have tried copying the files to a USB and powering on with Fn-Esc held down. After letting go of the power button and holding Fn-Esc a different screen appears after 30 seconds. I let go and have given it 30 minutes but it is not doing anything. I have read online from other people the power button should be blinking. Do I need to rename one of the files.
Acer :: Timeline 4810TG Windows 7 Battery Capacity Dropped
Nov 7, 2009I did a clean install of Windows 7 ultimate 64bit a few days ago.
All is fine except one major issue; My battery capacity dropped to half of that in Vista. I am now lucky to get over 3.5 hours. In Vista I had an average of 6-7 hours.
What could be the cause of this? I have updated all drivers and empowering software. I also installed the Vista version of the Optical Drive Power Management just to see if that was the cause.
Anyone else experiencing poor battery times in W7? Is 64bit known for reducing battery times?
Acer :: Brightness Controls No Longer Work On Timeline 1410 Upgraded To Windows 7 (32 Bit)
Jan 23, 2010I used the upgrade kit from Acer to do a clean install of Windows 7 to my Timeline 1410. Everything works great and I love this laptop... except that the brightness controls (Fn+Left/Right Arrow) do not work. It's locked at highest brightness.
I am at my wit's end trying to figure this out.
I have installed all the Win 7 drivers from Acer's site, particularly
- Newest bios
- Launch Manager
- Chipset drivers
- Intel graphics drivers
When I first boot it up, the brightness controls work fine during the BIOS steps. But once Windows takes over, the controls no longer function. In the Windows Mobility Center, there is no brightness control panel. [FWIW, my Dell, which does have functional brightness control, doesn't show one either.] All other Fn-combinations, like volume control, work fine.

Dec 26, 2009I am having problems with the internal microphone located at the top of the display on the HP G60 notebook PC, pre-loaded with the Windows 7 Home Premium operating system. All OS, PC drivers and system ROM have been updated to current.
The sound it produces is at best barely audible or usually completely inaudible. This is true when I use the internal Sound Recorder app as well as when I try to utilize Windows Live and Skype for either audio or video calls. The fact it behaves this way using Sound Recorder proves it has nothing to do with firewalls or internet latency. Also, I can hear and see the people I'm trying to communicate with just fine.
I first noticed the problem on an HP G60t system I purchased from hpshopping.com in early December 2009, which was a custom build and shipped to me. I opened a case with support and they told me I would have to ship it back for repair or I could just return it. I returned it.
Figuring I was just unlucky enough to get a bad system, I then went to Best Buy in late December 2009 and bought a second HP G60, this time a G60-535DX, which was similarly configured. Guess what? The exact same problem.
I have been researching these HP support forums and the customer reviews posted at bestbuy.com for the HP G60. It seems many people are having the exact same problems. I have tried all of the suggestions I have found, including the following, but nothing changes the fact the microphone quality on two HP G60 notebooks purchased from separate retail outlets / inventories is extremely poor and essentially non functional.

Lenovo X220 X Series ThinkPad :: Microphone Quite After Fresh Windows 8 Install?
Mar 30, 2013I just did a system restore of windows 8 (clean wipe) and went through the process of reinstalling all the drivers. I installed the latest version SmartAudio (8.32.43.0). In Google hang out it said the microphone wasn't working, then I clicked on the settings and made the internal mic the default, I got good mic for 1 second. Did it again and the same thing. But this is only for a single second. In skype I tried the same thing and it is just super quite, it doesn't register on the scale unless I blow directly into the mic (so I know it's picking something up). Last week I had my upgraded from win 7 Windows 8 install working just fine with the microphone (zero problems ever before with this thing). I checked in mic properties and DB and volume are set to max. So what is it about the fresh install that is making the mic all cracked out? (I checked the SmartAudio settings too) I'm having issues with my Bluetooth mouse too(disconnects at restart and have to reinstall) and Power Manager (it doesn't show up as a toolbar anymore). P.S.. I've gone to the X220 site and downloaded the latest drivers and installed system update.

Jan 9, 2009No matter what I do it will not take a microphone. The mic is working, I plugged it into an amp. It can't be the connector as I just got a new one today and tried it on the Aux input of a headphone amp.
This is absolutely ridiculous. I remember having this trouble before. I can't even seen to access "line in" as an option when recording anymore either. What's going on? I need to record some stuff and I can't use the crappy in built mic for that.

Jul 14, 2009I was testing out my microphone and I noticed that the sound is really staticy. I figure its some electrcal interference coming from somewhere. I muted every other sound input and changed physical locations. But the recordings I make sound like old staticy records.
I also turned down the record level down to 40 and boost level of the mic to 0dB but it will won't go away.

Nov 24, 2009Last week I dropped my 3810TZ from a table and the LCD panel hinge cracked. Then I got a call from Acer about the mike cable overheat repair and if I wanted to send it in. I thought just do it and went for it.
I put a sticker over the broken hinge that just said 'repair?' and send the machine in.
Today it came back with a brand new LCD panel!

Aug 10, 2009when I try to record from the Microphone, there is a loud hum and crackling noise in the recording. I can barely hear myself talk.
I recently discovered that if I turn my Screen off by pressing Fn+F6, the background noise immediately goes away. But this is impractical when using the Camera.

Acer :: How Can I Disable Internal Microphone On Aspire 5920G
Sep 19, 2008I've just bought an Acer Aspire 5920G and the Crystal Eye webcam works perfect with MSN and so does the internal microphone. However, I've started hosting a show on an Internet radio and the sound quality from the internal mic is too low. Therefore I bought a microphone that I plugged in the appropriate jack on the laptop (next to the jack for the headphones) but when recording or broadcasting it seems that my laptop uses BOTH the external and the internal mic. Could anybody tell me how to DISABLE the internal mic and use the external instead?
I've tried to disable the Crystal Eye from the Device Manager on Windows Vista but that doesn't solve the problem. I've also tried to modify the settings from the recording devices but the LineIn is not plugged in. I'd just like to plug a mic and use that instead of the webcam's one. Any help would be really appreciated as I have to host a show in 2 days and I don't have a clue on how to solve this problem.
