I am stuck being tech support for my brother who is living in Torres Vedras, Portugal right now. He is having some problems with a pretty new Acer Aspire 5810TZ that was given to him around Christmas time. The computer had been used for about a month before he received it and had a few programs installed on it along with the usual bloatware. I cleaned up what I could before he left for Portugal again and installed AVG anti-virus, MS Office '07, and Windows 7.
Now that he is back in Portugal he is having problems with the things he uses most on the computer (Built in microphone not working, built in webcam only working randomly for a short amount of time, and DivX failing any time he tries to watch tv or movies online) I've walked him through updating all the drivers and reinstalling DivX, but nothing seems to fix these problems and Windows 7 is starting to look like more trouble than it is worth to him.
Main Question: Is there any way to restore the computer back to the way it was when first purchased (with Vista or 7, whichever will work) without the use of recovery discs (He does not have any with him over seas) in a way that is simple enough for me to relay to him?
I just got an acer aspire timeline 5810tz, which came with vista, so i was in the process of reformatting it to have XP, which i've done several times on my previous laptops. When i changed the bios to IDE, which is what i read was the correct setting (perhaps this is where my problem is?), i found that i could no longer boot the computer or access setup, bios or the boot menu. When i attempt to do any of these things, the computer just sits on the logo screen.
i'm getting fairly desperate at this point, having tried a large variety of solutions, key combos, removing the battery, etc.
I have Acer Aspire 5810TZ-4433 (Model MS2272) laptop unit. The HDMI connection to my TV functioned correctly until yesterday when it will no longer show the desktop icons or live internet connections on my TV screen. I have wallpaper which shows (The MS wolf theme that is included in the Win 7 Pro OS) just fine but no desktop icon overlays nor will it show the live internet windows.
The laptop itself appears to be functioning normally. For some reason the HDMI cable is not carrying the other digital data to my TV screen.
In summary: Laptop screen shows all the icons on the desktop with them overlaying the "wolf" wallpaper background. I have normal functioning of the computer when I click on these icons.
TV screen: Shows only the 'wolf" wallpaper background. No other information is viewable on the TV
I have tried using different HDMI inputs on the TV using several different HDMI cables all without success. To my knowledge there has been no damage to the laptop's HDMI output connector.
What do I do? I have tried copying the files to a USB and powering on with Fn-Esc held down. After letting go of the power button and holding Fn-Esc a different screen appears after 30 seconds. I let go and have given it 30 minutes but it is not doing anything. I have read online from other people the power button should be blinking. Do I need to rename one of the files.
I had an HP Pavilion dv6, but some part inside relating to the power failed. Ultimately, the constant cutting of power caused my hard drive to fail. I was able to use HP Recovery Manager to back up my files (music, documents, pictures, etc.). For Christmas, I was gifted a new computer, but it is not an HP. I tried to restore my backup file to my computer but it says that HP Recovery failed. I'm guessing the issue is because the new computer is Lenovo Thinkpad and doesn't have the HP Recovery software. How can I restore my files to my new computer?
I tried to update the BIOS on ACER Aspire 5810tz-4657 and it failed. The computer powers up with a few lights (no monitor activity or cd activity...but USB's flash once indicating a 'check' maybe?) and either powers off immediately and powers back up...or just sits powered on with power light and wireless light remaining on. The HD does some spinning as well.
i been trying to restore my dell N5010 but there is no image where to restore it from or i cant even recover it to an earlier date. the computer stopped working and it keeps telling me to do automatic repair but it fails and send me to a menu where i can restore it or recover it but there is no image to factory restore it or there is no date to go back to.
I am having trouble restoring my computer to factory settings. Just to preface this, everytime i restart my HP Pavillion dv6 laptop, it freezes on the HP logo on the boot up. This freezing only occurs when i restart, if i manually shut it down and turn it on the boot up progresses normally.
So i have tried to restore my computer to factory settings by using the recover manager and the recovery manager requires the laptop to be restarted. However, the laptop freezes on the restart so i have to shut down the laptop manually and turn it back on. This interferes with the recovery manager and i get an error that recovery manager was not properly able to restore my computer.
I have also tried to press F10 on the boot up to enter restore mode. However, when i hit f10 my screen goes completely black. The fan and the laptop are running but the screen goes blank. How i can restore my laptop.
My IT dept made some changes to my W530 and now fastboot is not using SSD drive of (16G).I'm planning on using the "Restore" option found under My computer. If I select this option, I pressume all the factory default programs will install and wipe out the rest of the drive correct? If I do this will my fastboot be enabled once again?
I am trying to use my TV to view some of my notebook content and some internet stuff using an HDMI cable instead of a serial cable. When I connect the HDMI cable to the TV and change my output the TV displays "no signal" and then "device not configured" or something like that. Am I doing something wrong or can I only connect with a serial cable?
i am trying to restore laptop with restore cd's that was supplied, the problem is that i can get the alt f10 system to work as it just constantly beeps till i let it go. i have read through threads that talk about a recovery partition but not technically minded so i dont know if this has one or how to find it.
I was trying to do a Factory Recovery in my Acer Aspire 5610z using eRecovery. Everything was fine until the "Acer Launch" window appeared.
Now it stuck at "Process 1/2","Install eRecovery solution", "Please wait"
There is another window behind it but I am unable to view it, this is going on for more than 2 hrs and I would very much appreciate your help to acomplish this recovery. the axer lauch window couldn't be moved.
I recently reinstalled windows 8.1 on my laptop as I had cloning problems with my new ssd (crucial mx100), reinstalling windows apparently solved the problem. I had problems with my display (brightness could not be adjusted) that was solved by installing intel's latest drivers using their app as device manager showed that it had the latest drivers. i only have one issue right now, the touch pad lost its multi-touch features and windows 8.1 gestures, is there anyway to fix this? I know it is probably a driver's problem....
I had to buy the recovery disk for my Aspire V5, when I start I change the bios to UEFI with secure enabled, then I use the disk Recovery System, once that I´m in the Acer Console Management, and I Selected the restore full, a pop up came with the message "Please Change your bios to Legacy¨ so I click on the exit button, and I enter to the bios and select the legacy mode, then the acer console management starts and says that the systems recovery fails because this is only for UEFI mode. So I dont know what to do, I have another 4 disk for the recovery but none of this is a booteable disk. Also I tried with UEFI and boot secure disable and same result .
I have an Aspire V5 -473P-5602. This is my 2nd unit as the first had issues that couldn't be fixed. Had this replacement for 2 months now and has been working great until recently. I'm hoping this is a minor thing, but I can't seem to find anything online about it.
Basically, sometimes when I turn on the computer it boots into the "insydeh20" screen. Not every time but enough to be annoying to me. The computer is pretty much as is when I got it new. No 3rd party apps, nothing modified etc etc.
Again, except for installing Windows updates nothing on the computer has been changed. Sometimes when I start the computer I hear a clicking sound ( one click) Seems it makes the noise when there is a Microsft update available. Normal?? Never did it before...
I bought an Acer Aspire V/-582PG 15,6" HD touch a month ago. Today I was playing games with a couple of friends when the screen suddenly turned white. I could still hear the game music and could talk to my friends on mumble. I tried to put the computer to sleep and turn it on again, but the screen was still bright white. I then tried to shut it down and start it again; the screen was still white.
I then connected it to my tv using hdmi. This enabled me to see the Windows login screen. Shortly after I logged in to Windows, the computer shut down. Now i can't start it and none of the lights on the computer are on.
My high school-age son was working on an English paper when something fell off a shelf and whacked his Aspire 3680 right above the hard drive bay. It started clicking and finally crashed.
The computer won't run with the hard drive installed. It makes nasty clicking sounds trying to boot, and finally beeps and powers off. Without the hard drive, the laptop powers up and runs BIOS just fine.
We can buy a new hard drive, but it seems awful to pay Acer another $20 + $10 shipping for the Vista restore disk!
