View 3 RepliesThe charger works fine, when pluged into the laptop the light is orange, as soon as we press the power button to turn it on, the orange light goes off, if i press the power button and let go straight away, the light stays off for 5 seconds, if i hold the power button the light stays off for around 9-11 seconds, now the shop we went to says it's a connectivity problem, and i was looking around and i was thinking about the power jack (i'm not big on laptops, more of a desktop kind of guy, so if it doesn't have one lol at me!). Anyway, i'd love to know if anyone knew or had a way of knowing what my sisters problem is, as she'd like to sell this laptop, but needs to clean her HDD of school work and general stuff that she has on it before selling it, and would prefer it to be fully working before sending it away.
View 8 Replies View RelatedMy friend as just bought an Acer Aspire Travelmate 5730 running WinVista.
We set up the laptop yesterday and burned 6 recovery discs in case anything goes wrong with the laptop.
I dont know much about laptops and with my pc ive always had the operating system on a cd so i could fix any problem using the cd.
This laptop as a 250gb HDD when i looked on the computer this HDD appears to have two partitions on it Cdrive that you boot upto then the other drive i think must be a back up drive.
The back up drive seems to take up 50% of the HDD this seems to be a large chunk of the HDD or is there somthing im misunderstanding here.
I also set up a wireless connection for this laptop there's no problem connecting to the internet while'st in the same room as the router but can't connect from a different room this defeats the object of a wireless connection.
a problem i've been having, for some reason, the touch pad and keypad on my laptop won't work...i've been stuck using a wireless USB mouse and keyboard set for about 4 days
View 4 Replies View RelatedIs there really no way to use an external microphone without purchasing one of those USB-pens to transfer it through that?Â
Â
The in-built microphone is dreadful, and I recently bought a microphone. I thought every laptop nowadays had an input for microphones. The AA e1-522 doesn't, or am I missing something? Why remove it in the first place...?
I have Aspire V3-471, my laptop microfone not working , looking for driver for windows7, me recently install windows7 on my laptop.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've just bought an Acer Aspire 5920G and the Crystal Eye webcam works perfect with MSN and so does the internal microphone. However, I've started hosting a show on an Internet radio and the sound quality from the internal mic is too low. Therefore I bought a microphone that I plugged in the appropriate jack on the laptop (next to the jack for the headphones) but when recording or broadcasting it seems that my laptop uses BOTH the external and the internal mic. Could anybody tell me how to DISABLE the internal mic and use the external instead?
I've tried to disable the Crystal Eye from the Device Manager on Windows Vista but that doesn't solve the problem. I've also tried to modify the settings from the recording devices but the LineIn is not plugged in. I'd just like to plug a mic and use that instead of the webcam's one. Any help would be really appreciated as I have to host a show in 2 days and I don't have a clue on how to solve this problem.
I own an Acer Aspire R7-572G which has a combined 4-pin 3.5mm headset jack.
Â
I would like to use a normal microphone with an 3.5mm connector. The microphone did not work by directly plugging the connector into the socket, therefore I bought an adapter which splits the 4-pin output into speaker & microphone sockets.
Â
Now the microphone does work properly, however, unless I am connecting external speakers I am not able to use the internal notebook speakers. (maybe because the notebook assumes that a headset is plugged in)
Â
>>> Is there a way to use my external microphone and the internal notebook speakers?
Â
One more thing to mention: If I plug in the cable, a popup on the notebook appears asking which device I just plugged in. Sadly my only three options are "headphones", "speaker output" or "headset". NO MICROPHONE OPTION !!!
I have an HP Envy 14-1111 nr notebook with Windows 7, and I have always had problems with microphones working. I plug in my headset and put the plugs into the correct ports, including putting the Mic plug into the port with a picture of a headset/mic. I also put the audio plug into the correct port.
Â
The audio always works fine- I can hear things properly coming from the headphones. But the mic NEVER WORKS. I've made sure that the mic is enabled, and I've set the headset mic as the default recording device, and made sure it's not muted, and even tried like 3 different types of headsets, but it still doesn't work.
Â
My computer recognizes that my headset has a mic when I plug it in, because the independent headset microphone pops up on my recording devices. But no matter how much noise I make into the mic, my computer doesn't recognize any of it. It is basically saying that it can't detect any sound from the mic.

I currently have the 5735z aspire. My problem lies with Acer not having any support for this notebook. I have been searching for anything to give a bios update. I have found the 5730 aspire is practically a mirror of my laptop except for the screen size.(5735z has a 15.6) I was curious if I could use the updates for the 5730 on mine. They both have gl40 chipset and the same cpu. I noticed the bios updates starts at 1.07 and goes up to 1.14.
Mine is currently 1.07. So my question is can I use the bios for the 5730?
Now I am not after any passwords or any thing but I think this is disgusting.
My wife has an on boot bios password and wanted to disable it. She asked me to do it because I work in IT so it shouldnt be a problem.
I logged in with her password. Went security, user password, Press enter, typed in existing one then new password blank and confirmed it with another blank password. Rebooted and now it prompts for a password and we are stuffed.
Is this me being stupid did I do some thing wrong is that not the way to do it ?
Its appauling. We had a customer in work whos laptop was sent away to be sorted because he had the same problem. At the time I thought he was bit silly but now I can see how it could happen
My laptop fell off a table whilst the disk tray was open and jammed the disk tray shut.
It didn't damage the laptop at all, just made a whirring noise every time I turned it on and off because there was a CD still in there (been like that for a few months). However, today the tray opened a little and so I pulled it right out. I know enough about computers to know that I haven't damaged anything else, just removed the tray.
Now my laptop won't turn on, and even the charging light doesn't come on. A piece of plastic ribbon/connector that was attached to the tray is loose - could it be that?
(Acer Aspire 5920, Windows Vista)
I have upgraded my 5315 laptop to a T7300 cpu and iit s working fine. Is it possible to drop in a Q6600 quad cpu instead of the T7300 ? I have a extra cpu I would like to use.
If it will not work, is there a quad cpu that will work ? I am doing video editing and would like a powerhouse cpu.
I will have after Oct 22, two license copies of Windows 7. Will Windows 7 work better with the T7300 cpu ? Could my laptop be upgraded to 4 gbs if I run Windows 7 ?
Acer Aspire 2000. When a battery is inserted and the power cable is in, the charging light appears, I then switch on the laptop and it powers up within 5 seconds of it being on and trying to boot it will power down without notice.
If I remove the battery I can run the laptop fine off the mains. If I then connect the battery it will cause the laptop to power down.
I have tried two other batteries thinking it was a fault with the battery, but this is not the case.
I just wanted to know could it be a setting in the BIOS?
is i got a new Aspire E3-111 that has 2GB of ram, and i want to put one of my 4GB ram stick into my laptop but it doesnt work, the ram is the same type but it doesnt work. also the laptop freezes up when i play ME3 for more then 1 hour and i have to do a hard restart... i also made a video showing whats going on

have bought a new Acer Aspire V5 573G without a system software. Now I want to install Windows 7 home premium 64bit on it but it doesn't work. First of all: Is it generally possible to do this? I tried to install it in the recovery mode but there was an error (something with the GPT Partition) so I switched the Mode to UEFI. I have read in other message boards that I have to switch to UEFI csm (compatibility support mode) but I can't find it.
View 4 Replies View Relatedmy problem is that WiFi literally don't work - i can't connect to any network.I'm using Windows 8 Pro.It's a i5 + geforce gt 630M version. When i'm installing an Atheros Drivers, it says that device is disconnected and drivers cannot be installed.
Wi-Fi is totally turned off - I mean the led isn't lightning, blinking or nothing - it's dead.
I can't use Fn + F3, it don't work at all.
I've installed LaunchManager, Fast Lane, Touch Pad and Dritek Rf button.
Now, in Fn + F3 i can turn Airplane mode, nor Wi-Fi.Is there any solution to turn this on? It stopped to work from day to a day - yesterday it works, now it isn't.
Done some formats, it don't even work on Windows 7 with Acer drivers. Maybe card is dead?

All of my headphones work on my other devices, so I know that the problem is not with the headphones themselves. The problem is that when I use my headphones with my laptop, everyone esle around me can hear what I'm listening to. What do I need to do?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI was using the laptop today and my keyboard stopped working. I can't get the keys to work. I am using windows 7 home. I tried restoring my os to a good working point, then ran a virus check in case it may have been a virus.
View 1 Replies View RelatedJust bought an Aspire ES1-511. Not my first Windows 8.1 laptop, but my first with UEIF firmware.
Â
I've been trying to boot Driveimage from CD to do an offline backup, and guess what, it wouldnt recognise the CD as bootable. Fixed that by setting the boot type to "Legacy" in the BIOS and it boots fine.
Â
My problem is that the mouse doesnt work after booting from the CD. Watching the behaviour of the mouse, it powers up when I press the power button, but powers off immediately the POST completes.
Â
If booting Windows from the HD, power to USB is restored as soon as windows loads to the lock screen.
I bought one for a customer, and it's been a nightmare. I've done all of the suggestions and ended up taking it to an authorized repair facility. They "reset" it and said it was fixed. Of course it was not. Acer has to provide a fix as it is their product that does not function correctly.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe Fn+F3 combination on my Acer Aspire One D270 doesn't work. I have wireless internet but the Wi-Fi led is red and I can't turn it on and off. Also the combination Fn+left/right arrow which makes the screen dimmer or brighter doesn't work either. One more thing: does this model have a bluetooth device? I should mention that the OS is Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit.
View 5 Replies View RelatedThe right click button does not work on the mouse pad, as well as on a usb mouse. I have used Acer factory recover disks to restore it to out of the box condition. Same issue. If you use control panel to switch buttons then the only thing that happens is the cursor moves no click at all. Also after a period of time letting the computer warm up suddenly the cursor is working but even the left click will not function it will highlight the icon but not allow you to click it. I am wondering is the only solution to replace the motherboard since it appears to be a heat aggravated problem. And before I forget, yes I have replaced the drivers a couple of times clean install as well
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy wife's Aspire One 725 went down a couple of months ago with a bad hard drive. Of course, I hadn't maed a recovery USB. I finally ordered one from the Store, and tried it out tonight. I set the boot order to USB HDD, and, well, nothing happens! First, I see a cursor in the top left corner, and then I see the little circle of balls wait indicator, but i never get any other screen! Could I have a bad USB media from ACER?Â
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with the audio. I reinstal the O.S. because my laptop was working slow, and because the sound did not work properly. Everything affter instalation works fine, just the audio doen't work properly, it sounds...hesitating
I thought the problem was the cpu temperatures... 60º-65º idle, and just open a few windows it reachs at 75º-80º, and stay in this temps.
Notebook Hardware Control, lets make undervolting. So I make some test... and just when the cpu loads at 100% the audio works properly, clean and perfect. If cpu loads under 80% the audio sounds... but defective, not clean...
i have just recently installed windows 7 on my acer aspire 4530 and after installation all are working great except for one, my volume wheel control is no longer working, before i installed windows 7 it was working just fine, don't know if im missing a driver or i forgot to set anything
