I ordered my Dell E6400 on June 26 and got it July 6. The hard drive was gettig louder and louder day by day,
when i opened windows it sometimes would say "Preparing Desktop" and downgrade my windows to windows 98 or something.
And It wouldn't produce audios from my dvds.
after a little cooperation from the tech i had enough.
I am not very good with PCs although I have changed the Power supply to my PC in the past!I have a Dell XPS15 Laptop (Specs included at the bottom). Will adding memory or changing the Graphics card work at all? Can I add any memory at all to make it work faster?

I have to buy a new notebook for work before July - before the money disappears. Wondering if anyone has any info if Dell will have any new Latitudes out by then or not. I am looking at the 14" size.
I could not find any roadmaps that showed if there are any mainstream quadcores on the horizon.
I want a 7200 500GB drive in the E6400 that I plan to purchase..
Dell doesnt offer a drive this big.
These drives are quite cheap these days. So i will get the the E6400 with an 80GB and swap it out with an aftermarket 7200 500GB.
Im hoping to use the OS disk that comes with the machine to install Vista on the new drive.
Just curious because the rubber feet fell off VERY easily on my ANtec computer cases,

Anyways to make it short, the biggest problem is that i am relocating and moving to another city in USA next saturday morning. So i was asking if it can be done later, for which he said dont worry it takes 3-5 days for the replacement to arrive so you are safe.
I am just wondering, how does replacement of system work ?
1. Do they send a box will all the software too again !!! I mean vista disk etc ? or do they just send the system.

so I have my Dell Studio 1535 laptop since September.. Since then, it has had 3 motherboards for the sound breaking, 3 touch pads for the eject button issue which still occurs, and 3 laptop lids for broken hinges due to the cheap silver plastic used on these covers..
Anyway, on my 5 Dell service call now, and they tell me they will not replace the lid with any different cover, full stop. They will not fix the laptop with any alternative parts, so I'm stuck with silver plastic lids as long as I have this, even though two of the times I was told they were quality tested and garuntee'd not to break, which they have..
So what do I do? The manager extended the warranty for me but ONLY for the hinges issue.. Nevermind the eject button or sound .....
I just tried to upgrade my current processor in a Dell Inspiron 1520 from an Intel C2D T5250 to an Intel C2D T8300.After replacing the old CPU with the new I put my laptop back together and then press the power button. The three lights by the power button light up and the caps lock button in the middle of the three lights starts to flash then after a minute or two the computer shuts off. I thought it may have been that the CPU was DOA so I popped the old one back in there and got the same thing. I have the most up to date BOIS from Dell A09 as well

Something if I needed to use I could use while propped up in bed, nothing heavier than my old Inspiron 1300 which I don't know exactly how heavy it was but I need to replace it with another laptop, possible one lighter than my Inspiron 1300 which I would be using most of the time for web surfing and email. I know the lighter the laptops are the more expensive they are.
View 9 Replies View Relatedi had a HP Pavillion dv6904ca and had sent it in for repair 4 times cause of graphics failures all of which failed to fix the problem. recently i was given a case manager, and low and behold they say they would replace the laptop for me. They decide to give me and HP HDX 16-1140us as a replacement and they tell me i need to send the laptop in first and then once recieved they would send the new laptop. so far its been about a week and a half and still no new laptop. so my question is if anyone here had to go through hp case manager to replace laptop, how long did it take to receive the new one? I know it sounds like a dumb question but i need my laptop for school and cant go very long without it.

My Dell Latitude E6400 laptop reboots when inserted in the docking station. I can run all day and say I hot dock it out of the docking station and go away for half an hour. While away I use the laptop. When I return I snap the laptop back onto the station and.... it reboots! It started about a week ago. Always worked before. The peripherals are two displays, ext kybd, mouse. No USB stuff. Ethernet connected in the dock. This setup is unchanged for months now. Docking contacts clean. Under laptop too.
BIOS is most recent (did a few months ago). I reset defaults in the BIOS today after looking for any setting that may change this issue, but no improvement. Device Manager has nothing relevant either. What's wrong? The hard reboot is really bad as I lose all my in progress work and get all these Auto Recover files to manage... and logins... and restart apps... I'm not interested in putting the computer to sleep between transitions, as it has always been working flawless up to last week.
I Need a faster WIFI for my 9400, now i had 54Mbit , but i will take 100 or 300 Mbit.
But i dont know witch one can i take.
I am almost hesitant to even bother with installing Windows 7 because #1. I use "tethering" to my Sprint 3G cell phone to use broadband data everywhere, not sure if that will work in W7.
Also should I do an "in place installation" over top of Vista 64-bit to Windows 7 64-bit.
or do a complete reformat install to Windows 7 which I imagine would be a driver hassle.
CPU wise I think I am covered a dual core T9400 2.53Ghz with 6MB cache and 1066Mhz FSB. 4GB RAM.
I'm not a gamer, I am looking for a reliable, fast laptop mainly for web surfing, but also will be doing a bit of Photoshoping or watching the occasional movie. I'm told memory is the key to a fast system.
On the Dell website, I built a Dell Studio 15 which includes 8GB Shared Dual Channel DDR3 at 1066MHz and an Intel® Core™ i5-430M 2.26GHz (2.53GHz Turbo Mode, 3M cache).
The price just went down an additional $100 so I'm definitely going to purchase today. Now I'm flirting with the idea of going with the i5-520M 2.40GHz (2.93Ghz Turbo Mode, 3M cache) for $75 since I'm saving some money.
I'm just wondering if it may be overkill for what I'll be using it for. Also concerned that the bigger processor may drain the battery more .....
if a lower lat memory module will help in a D430? Normaly I think it would but seeing that you can't upgrade the 1G of onboard memory, I wonder if it would help at all?
And lastly, does anyone know if you can swap in a LED screen from a newer E4200 into a D420/430?
I have a choice of two m1730 machines. One with a 2.2Gig extreme processor but with dual 8700 cards. The other has a 2.2gig processor but has dual 8800gtx cards.

The price difference for the SSD is "UP THERE" so I at least want to know if its as fast as a conventional 2 hard drive raid zero approach.
Also does anyone have any links to spec's for the Dell 128SSD? Is it the Memoright 128GB.
And, when will dell get dual 5870 2GB?

How is heat and noise with the SSD? How much faster is the SSD in games and other normal apps?

My notebook requires (or originally came with) 2 x 256 MB 533 MHZ DDR2 SODIMM Memory Module, but now I want to upgrade to DDR2 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-5300 (667MHz). This memory seems to be cheaper than the memory that is required for my computer so that is why I'd rather purchase it. I know the notebook will not allow the memory to run at that speed, but I wanted to double check on its compatibility.
I know it probably will work (90% sure), but getting a second opinion before a purchase is always better than after.
I installed a T7500 cpu in my Aspire 5315, properties states that it is a T7500 cpu running at 789 MHZ, 2.2 dual cpu processor and 1.99 GB of ram. So far all I have been using my laptop is email and surfing. it seems to take the same time booting up and maybe opening and closing a program a little faster but I wonder is it really faster ?
Are there ways to test this processor to verify that it is faster against known specs for the previous cpu, the Celeron 530 processor ?

I'm looking to replace it with a netbook or another 15.4" widescreen notebook. I mainly use it for office productivity (powerpoint, word), internet, and some multimedia (hulu, etc).
This current notebook does it's job. But its pretty slow once I start to open up a number of applications. I can trade this notebook for cash ($250). Not sure if this is a good deal or not... But anyway...
I own a wonderful 1810TZ, which is a great machine. However, the extremely slow speed at which the battery charges greatly reduces its usefulness for me.
Is it possible to get a faster charger that will not toast my computer and/or me?
My HP dv6500t doesn't return from standby and/or randomly crashes when I have my 2x2GB 800MHz OCZ RAM installed. I'm not sure if it's the size (4GB) or speed (800MHz) that is the issue, but it's something, so I need to make a change.
Which of the following RAM configurations would be better/faster? I don't get errors configured with them.
1x2GB 800MHz (single channel)
2x1GB 667Mhz (dual channel)
Since the 10.5.7 update i've noticed that plugged in my Macbook Pro is MUCH faster. About a second faster in every respect.
However, now, on battery, the Macbook Pro is a second SLOWER with everything that it was originally and scrolling is now choppy?
