I installed the Acer Webcam software & driver and just the driver separately, the download files came from the Acer website. Neither of these allowed me to use my webcam.
When I first got the laptop, the camera was working fine, so it isn't a hardware problem. I recently changed my OS to Windows XP Pro SP3.
The software (both the Orbicam software and the thing in My Computer for windows that usually lets you use the camera) say that another software is using the camera.
My orbicam is functioning properly but when I close my laptop lid, my computer makes a sound and when I open the lid, my computer says that new hardware was found. This "hardware" is recognized by my computer as "Acer Orbicam #2" which means for some reason, my laptop thinks that a new camera is installed or plugged in everytime I close and open my lid.
Also, it searches for a usb driver that it says the camera can connect to to go faster. But there is no actual camera, it is just recognizing my orbicam twice for some reason. This causes a problem since after awhile, when I close and open my lid, my computer goes blue screen and restarts on me.
I was reading one of your discussions about the orbicam and I did just like the person I read about. I reformated my computer and the cam doesn't work now. When I click it on I get this message-a problem cause the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available. I have not got any response from windows.
Just taken ownership of a 2nd hand 5101. looks like it has been reset back to factory settings but the built in orbicam doesn't seem to work properly !
I have tried reading various posts, I have tried to install both the bison and logitech drivers , but all I get is a greyed out screen no matter what I am using ...msn messenger, orbicam software, etc ...
going through the hardware check etc , it says all ok with cam ?
After buying this notebook with Vista preinstalled I was surprised at how slow it was so I removed Vista and installed XP SP2. Now, still Win XP only sees 3 of the 4 GB RAM, but further the notebook is soooooooooo much faster. All seems to work well except for one thing, that damn orbicam. I downloaded the XP drivers for it from the ACER website, but there were two versions; bizoncam and logitech. I tried both, but it just won't work.
When Camera Driver Bison Ver.5.0.0.10 is installed and I open Acer orbicam nothing happens, no program opens. When Camera Logitech Ver.9.4.4.1082 is installed I can open the program, but it says: connect the camera while showing an USB-cable, but it's an integrated webcam, not external! But the crazy thing is, in MSN Messenger everything works without a problem!
Is there another driver? In the hardware (I run a Dutch version, don't know the English tab name) tab of 'my computer' I don't see any webcam, just an USB-Videodevice.
My built-in camera ceased to work a while ago, and nothing I have done has made any difference. Can anyone give me any guidance? I think it is a software issue, but I am not certain.
I have an Aspire 5672WLMI Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 3 2048 Megabytes Installed Memory PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-K06RS
Seagate Momentus 5400.2 SATA 1.5Gb/s 120-GB Hard Drive
I formatted my laptop and then realized that I had lost my backup disc. So i ended up installing a copy of XP Pro.
I've been able to obtain most of the drivers needed on the acer site. However, I am unable to get my USB2.0 working, and I also have issues getting the built-in webcam working as well.
I'm running an Acer Aspire 5672 WLMI. Recently i upgraded my RAM and hard drive, obviously having to reinstall the OS and driver's etc. Since i made the change, i haven't been able to get the Orbicam or usb ports on the left side of my computer to work.
Luckily there are still 2 ports on the right side that work fine, and the entire rest of the computer is great, but i'd like these things to work (especially the camera). I've re-installed everything 3 times at this point with no luck. The drivers are installed and in programs the camera is listed as an optional webcam. The first time i reformatted i got and error message that said camera is currently in use and cannot be accessed. It would ding on and off repeatedly until i rebooted the computer. Currently what the camera does is basically nothing. It's detected, but when pulled up in a program (such as gmail or acer software) it's simply black. I am wondering if i maybe jostled something inside and it's disconnected or if this is a software issue.
I want to reformat my C:/ partition but I've lost (or never had?) my original windows home cd that came with it, nor do I still have a recovery partition. (I wiped it all out...)
Where do I find an acer win xp version so I can reinstall and use my my original windows key?
I've been looking for hours for a LAN driver for this laptop...my wifi works perfect via the Intel Software from the acer website. But the usa/european site doesn't have the LAN driver. I lost the original CD.
I have ACER ASPIRE 5670, and i want to change its HDD but im not sure about what to take instead. I found this WD 500gb "Western Digital Caviar Blue 500 GB Bulk/OEM Hard Drive 3.5 Inch, 16 MB Cache, 7200 RPM SATA II WD5000AAKS " but im not sure will it work or not? how can i know if my HDD is SATA or SATA-II or IDE?
I have an Acer Aspire 5610-4179 laptop which was recently shipped back to me from the factory. I had been experiencing several problems, all of which were detailed and only some of which were fixed. I love having it back so much, though, that I am reluctant to send it away again. Some of the problems I am running into deal with the Orbicam camera and the touchpad. I have tried updating the drivers for these, but that doesn't seem to solve the problem. The camera still says that it is not plugged into a working USB port even though it's an internal camera; the touchpad works for moving the mouse, but tapping on the touchpad does not act as a mouse-click anymore. In addition, the volume and DVD control buttons on the right side of the keyboard no longer work.
My acer loaded in xp as normal but my keypad and mousepad were unresponsive so i did a clean install with xp(not acer recovery) that ran through to when you do user input and froze again now i have a new hd and the same thing is happening except when i load into safe mode then everything is fine,
I own an ACER Aspire 5672Awlmi (5670 series) notebook Intel Core DUO 1,73 120Gb SATA @5400 ATI Mobility X1600 up to 512hypermemory 2Gb DDR2 Ram etc
My only problem is its temperatures from the first day i bought it - especially during summer months.
I found some threads that mention downvoltaging as a possible solution and o downloaded all the appropriate software. The thing is that my CPU temperature remains at 84 - 90 C and as all tutorias agree i need to make experiments to see over which voltage my laptop is not crashing and having blue screens. Has anyone set up a similar laptop (or a laptop with similar configuration) to tell me the voltages used to make it run?
Am totally new here. i need to change my HD that is 100 gb came with. i bought 250 gp but i dont know how to remove old hard drive. how can i remove old hard drive from Acer Aspire 5670 ? I opened the HD lid but then lots of stuff in side under silver cover.
I own an Acer Aspire 5672AWLMI (5670 series) Inter Core duo 1,7, 2GB Ram, Ati Mobility Radeon x1600, 120GB SATA HD @ 5400rpm.
I am thinking of making 2 upgrades after 2 years of great functionality (despite the fact that it rises high temperatures and i mostly use it on Thermaltake's TaiChi cooler)
1)Upgrade exesting HD to
Hitachi Deskstar 500 GB Internal SATA Hard Drive 7200 RPM, 16 MB Buffer - Serial ATA 3.0 Gbps
2) Upgrade RAM to 3 or 4GB
The reason i am writing is to ask if this Hard drive is compatible with my mobo or should i try to update BIOS or is not compatible at all.
What is the best option for RAM - modules, vendors etc
I have an Acer 5610-4610 system. It was repartitioned to one XP drive for several years. I am finally wanting to put the PQ service partition back on it but none of the folders of the restore CD's have any of the files needed to recreate this partition. I am wanting to put the factory (VISTA Home Premium) system on C. With all the system files and folders from the 3 restore CD's into the PQSERVICE partition. I have no clue how to proceed.
I do remember there was an acer(C) partition and a data (D) partition when I got it. The PQSERVICE partition was there back then.
The first (System) CD has none of the files mbrwrdos.exe or rtmbr.bin used to create the PQSERVICE system.
I run the ACER Disk Formatter and it cannot find any drives on the laptop.
Weird! From what I've been able to glean my thought was that that the Formatter disk would facilitate creating the correct partitions?
im going to clean upgrade to win 7 64 bit, after i do that i know acer do drivers for web cam ect... but can i download acer software eg Empowering Technology, Acer Arcade Deluxe ect.
Recently I developed this simple application that lets you easily configure CineDash and other buttons functions on Acer laptops. This application, “Acer CineDash Config”, is mainly for mine purposes.
I tested it on my Acer 6935G and Windows 7 64bit version. It probably should work on other models and systems to.
Some of the features that Acer CineDash Config supports are: •32bit and 64bit systems •Configuring applications to run and captions for buttons:oArcade DeluxeoEmpowering tech.oInternetoE-Mail•Making and restoring registry backup •Enabling media keys to work with other programs, like winamp, and restoring original key mapping file
I have a wireless network setup between my desktop w/xp pro an my laptop w/vista home preminum Acer 5570Z.
My laptop can open drives & folders on my desktop, but my desktop can't open drives or folders on my laptop it says I don't have permission. I fixed this once before but can't remember what I did.
I have an Acer 6930ZG with a fresh install of windows 7 RC 32bit. I can play Call Of Duty 4, Counter Strike, Flatout 2 etc. with no problems! But when I try to open MapleStory a blue screen appears, and begin to make a physcial memory dump? . MapleStory is a 2D-game, and Call Of Duty requires much more.
I made a little research, and I found out that alot of people have the same problem, and they said it was caused by a conflict with a program or hardware drivers. I have tried to delete my NVIDIA driver, and install it again. No luck.
And yes, I have also tried to run MapleStory in compatibily mode
As I said: It's only in MapleStory I experience the problem, and I don't think it's ram-failure, since I have seen the same problem on a different computer, and I can play Call of Duty 4.
Here is the system log: Problemsignatur: Navn på problemhændelse:BlueScreen OS-version:6.1.7100.2.0.0.256.1 Landestandard-id:1030.....................
I had vista installed on my laptop, Acer 6920, (first OS) and it was direct from factory so everything worked fine. I then installed ubuntu and everything still worked fine. I then deinstalled both of those to put on windows 7 RC where all my hardware was working perfectly (minus the fingerprint reader but i honestly couldnt care about that thing) so my computer eventually got pretty bogged down with crap to the point where boot was about 30 minutes. during this whole time my sound seemed to work, but near the end windows stopped finding any internal sound related hardware (the speakers and the mic). For other reasons i did a clean reformat (3 times) and reinstalled 7 Professional 32 bit and when i booted i downloaded all the drivers and everything seemed to install correctly, but when i rebooted the sound still didnt work nor did the mic. the exact error message windows is giving me is "No Audio Output Device found" however when i plug in a headset or a bluetooth adapter + headphones there is audio and it works perfectly. I really need sound to work as some programs crash if they dont detect a sound output and also for monitoring audio recordings.
I have tried installing all of Realtek's drivers. Literally all of them. None of them worked what so ever despite clean installs and deinstalls.
I now am running 64bit and ive almost given up on this problem. I bearly saved this computer and i dont wanna have to buy a new because of sucha stupid issue like this. More info:
Under the hardware manager in windows there is no tree for sound devices. there was an unknown component which i put forceware on as i thought it was the sound device but no go.

i own a acer 4920, but i am interested in upgrading the utilities on my laptop and i see that they have brought out a new framework for some of the other notebooks.
is it possibly to upgrade these features on an acer aspire 4920
