Acer :: 9301 - "PQ Service Partition" And Others

Have an Aspire 9301 originally with XP, but I upgraded to Vista with the free offers at the time. Having the Vista DVD means I can always reinstall but I would lose the bundled applications originally supplied... NTI etc etc.
Question... When I use Acronis TI it always shows a "PQ Service partition" of around 4.7GB along with the C/D drives. Does that mean it is still intact ?
What would happen if I tried (ever) to recover from it seeing as I changed the FAT file format to NTFS etc on the C/D partitions.
I also have a recovery disc I burned straight out of the box. Would that rebuild it all back to as new with XP.

I recently received an Acer 3680. Upon bootup, it gives a SMART error for the HDD, warning of imminent failure and a need to back up all files. According to the previous owner, it has been doing this for months. I want to repace the HDD, but have some concerns about the service / recovery partition. I recently made some back-up CD's and reinstalled Windows Vista Home Basic. This was done to wipe out the previous owner's data, plus see if the backup dics really would work. The CD's I made are the only discs I have for it.
If I buy a new hard disk drive (larger and a different model than the current one), will I be able to create a service partition on it, with whatever information is supposed to be on the service partition?
Will the backup CD's I made from the eRecovery software be able to install the OS onto a new hard drive, or will they only work with that exact model drive?
Basically, I am preferring a new HDD that will be partitioned and have the data just like the current one, but larger, with no SMART errors. Is this possible?

Machine is an Aspire 9301AWSMi running XP SP2 rather than Vista.
On boot, the machine shows the ACER BIOS screen but after that the display just goes blank. Have tried to boot from the Windows XP CD and the only difference is that following the BIOS screen I then get a message saying "Windows is inspecting your hardware configuration" and then a second or 2 later, back to a blank screen. No disc or CD activity.
Is this another ACER Motherboard problem or maybe a HDD failure?

where I can find the latest bios file for this laptop as the Acer site shows no bios for Vista users only drivers?
XP users go to 1.20 I am running v1.14

Currently using NVidia graphics version 7.15.10.9755 the only one listed on Acers site for the 9300 series running Vista.
While I was playing around with a clean install of Vista on a 9301 Microsoft updates installed (recommended/optional update) a new driver which turned out to be 7.15.11.6369
Anyone know anything about this version. It seemed to work really well, and had many features the earlier one doesn't. Is it a notebook driver ? I also couldn't find it anywhere to download.

Just interested how high you all set the brightness and whether anyone that has had invertor or tube failure was a "high brightness user".
So a quick poll, how high do you have the brightness turned up, is it quarter, half, full etc or expressed perhaps 5 out 15, 8 out of 15 etc.
I run 3 out 15 on the brightness, no display problems 3 years old Aspire 9301

I have installed the one key recovery driver , but don know why it's not functioning~after i press the one key recovery button, it shows "the program can not find the service partition, this function is currently unavailable" instead of asking me to reboot into the system recovery environment.
How to install the window correctly so that i wont lost the one key recovery function

I tried to to recover from onekey recovery key I use system recovey mode but at that time i got error:"The program cannot find service partition. This function currently unavailable ."
My system work normally... I wont my lappy factory default...

How long usually it take for Acer to service laptop?
i want to compare it with other country whether its faster or not.
my laptop go to service center at March, now its already May 2009 and my laptop is still on the service center. (the dvd drive wont eject discs, its slot-in type)
usually they (acer) only take 1 or 2 month but now it become 3 months >_>
last time when they change the LCD and Battery and DVD-RW Drive it only take about a month (yups, 3 parts are replaced by acer, for free)

I bought a used 5315 off ebay. It turned out to have a bad hard drive but I was able to save the pqservice partition and clone it to another drive. I successfully performed a restore and it is up and running. Just for future reference, I would like the service manual for this model but can't find it here.

I bought acer travelmate 3284 several years ago (perhaps in 2006). The biggest problem of my laptop is the very high temperature which appeared whenever the laptops idle.
I plan to disassamble my laptop, but i don't have the service manual. I searched several times in google and forums, but found nothing.
