I recently received a brand new Aspire V5-123-3496 as a gift however after a week of use it still runs very slow. Although I primarily use the internet, I have google chrome, it is also general processes that take long. For example, to open the start menu, then to choose a program then for the program to open can take several minutes.

If i have more than one window open its not even worth using. So I always run back to XP and I'll be honest in saying that I'm quite bored with it.

CPU: Intel Celeron CPU 560 - 2.13GHz
RAM: 1GB DDR2
Graphics: Moblie Intel GMA X3100
I'm guessing I did this to myself somehow but I can't figure out how to fix it. It originally came with Visa but I downgraded to XP and had been using it without problems for awhile. It started getting a little slow so I recently installed (and soon after uninstalled) a bunch of optimizing / driver updating programs. After playing around with those, my laptop is running super slow... I can't watch videos, the buffer causes it to just show the image while the audio plays... After running Dr. Hardware it looks like my CPU is only running at 800mhz which is a lot slower than it used to.

It encounters an error and the box do I want to send error or dont send pops up but the touchpad is unresponsive. I have presssed fn and f7 which disables touchpad then I enable it again but this doesnt recitfy the problem. Only rebooting computer does.

I have just taken ownership of my new laptop. It has the bluray disc drive and has the HDMI slot so I purchased a new movie disc and a HDMI cable - plugged then into my HD tv and nothing!
I have tried starting the computer up connected and also not connected to the tv and it makes no difference. I have used the Fn+F5 key to switch from my screen to the tv and still nothing.
The only thing I get is some times an error message sysing graphics driver error but I would expect a new laptop with ATI radeon HD 3470 be able to cope with a blueray disc output?
Does anyone know were I can find the dual core version of the 1410? Because all the ones that I find now are ones with the single core 1.3GHz Intel Celeron 743 Processor. I think dual core ones are called su2300s. And how much difference would I notice between the single core and the dual cores because i'm really liking this laptop for college and this is the only thing holding me back to buying it.

I have Windows XP installed through boot camp, and it seems the hard drive is acting very very slow. Or basically XP in general. Installations are taking a very long time. It literally took 4 hours to install Modern Warfare 2. In case anyone is wondering I have the 2008 iMac 2.4 Ghz, 1 GB RAM, 7200rpm HD. Also in device manager, under SM bus controller there is a yellow question mark, could that be part of the problem?

it still slows down when a lot is happening on screen, and the laptop gets extremely hot - even some parts are too hot to touch.
I myself have an old celeron powered inspiron 1300, 2 gig ram-upgraded myself and an old onboard Intel 900 series gfx, yada, running windows xp...
it runs on the web very quickly- but its on its last legs, powers on and off, screen flutters, it overheats ,etc .....
i just disassembled my dv5t to fix an issue i was having with the screen. the screen seems to work fine now however it is running ungodly slow.
in order to get to my screen cables i had to take out the Following:
-hard drive
-WLAN module
-Switch cover & keyboard
-the display bezel
i'm not exactly sure what might be causing this because it was working just fine (except for my screen issue) before the disassembly
also it seems to run a little bit better in safe mode but its still slow
after playing with it for a while its main problem is booting and programs are crashing. it takes about 10 minutes to fully boot and then it runs at a normal speed however programs keep crashing like crazy.
Recently my games and videos are running real slow on XP.
Especially noticeable while sounds are going, for example on youtube, sounds like its on slow motion.

My X1 Carbon started running super slow since last week. The disk C: shows I still have 49.2 GB free space to use. So I think the problem does not relate to the space size. I am wondering if there is any way to clear something in my computer and make it run as fast as before.

The next day it went slower , in fact in minecraft the first day it was running on 120fps and on the next day about 70 - 60.
also , the laptop kept on getting blue screens and black screens and sometimes didnt turn on.
I still play games like League of Legends and Minecraft with friends and now the fps suddenly dropped . in minecraft 70 - 60 to 20 - 30 and in league of legends constant lag when someone uses a skill / attacks.
Whenever i go to sleep i just close my laptop , i dont shut it down and also i run at least 6 hours a day. Ive also heard that it might be the cooling fan that has dust in it, however im not sure. I want it to run smooth again . Ive reseted to factory setting twice and its still running slow.

In control panel devices it tells me to troubleshoot the laptop and cannot rectify problem with Broadcom virtual wireless adaptor. Secondly running the diagnostics say the Read test is not running. I boot up and get on line, and then I have a 30 - 40 sec wait every single time I try to change screens.
The problem is not booting up, or even getting on line, but it takes too long to get from screen to screen once I am on line.
Before I throw this away, as I can not return it, please, what do I do with this $300 doorstop?
i did a test in HDtune and i found something strange :
ide mode : burst speed - 120mb/s
cpu usage : 6,7 %
AHCI mode : burst speed - 68mb/s
cpu usage : 21% ( no mistake )
is this normal ? Hard disk is WD scorpio black 320gb
in HDtune i see that my hdd is set to ide - 100mb/s instead of sata
also when i connect a usb device ( after 3 connects especially) i get a BSOD and the error 0x0000008E .
I never got this error before and it all started 1 month ago, out of the blue.
I successfully upgrade an old laptop so that it will run well and not be too costly to upgrade either? So slow at present....

I have two Acer netbooks and they both run much slower when running on battery, particularly when browsing the internet. I've changed the power settings to "Always On" and "Home/Office" and it helps, but it's still not as good as when plugged in. Does anyone have any suggestions on anything else I can do? Also, does "Always On" or "Home/Office" provide faster performance when on battery power?

I'd like to get the same performance on battery that I get when plugged in, even though I understand I may have to sacrifice battery life. My mom has an Acer 532h 450N netbook and she complains that its slow. I go and take a look at it, disabled most of the junk that came pre-loaded with window 7 starter and installed the latest bios. CPU at 100% for youtube 360p, can't even smoothly scroll through PDFs. I restart it in safe mode which runs at 20 processes and cpu usage is constanly at 35-40% during idle state. I myself never owned an atom based netbook, are they this slow?
