i'm not exactly sure what might be causing this because it was working just fine (except for my screen issue) before the disassembly
also it seems to run a little bit better in safe mode but its still slow
after playing with it for a while its main problem is booting and programs are crashing. it takes about 10 minutes to fully boot and then it runs at a normal speed however programs keep crashing like crazy.
I'm guessing I did this to myself somehow but I can't figure out how to fix it. It originally came with Visa but I downgraded to XP and had been using it without problems for awhile. It started getting a little slow so I recently installed (and soon after uninstalled) a bunch of optimizing / driver updating programs. After playing around with those, my laptop is running super slow... I can't watch videos, the buffer causes it to just show the image while the audio plays... After running Dr. Hardware it looks like my CPU is only running at 800mhz which is a lot slower than it used to.
I have an hp l2005co (lance armstrong edition) that has started to go extremely slow. I tried formatting and even downgrading to xp. The xp installation took 6 yes 6 hours. I ram memtest86 and it found zero errors. I also replaced the hd with a new one and I got the same thing. I got an application that tells me the temperatures and idle they would hover at around 60 degrees celsius. I took the computer apart and took the terrible little cushion off the heatsink and applied some thermal grease and now it idles at around 48 degrees celsius. Even after I did that, it's still running excruciatingly slow. Startup times increased drastically though.
when i first got it, right out of the box without messing with services or changing anything, startup was around 40seconds. i could crysis on super high at about 27fps.
Now, i installed GTA4, which is the only other thing i did after crysising, no messing with services or installing other stuff, and my startup = about 1min, even though i take out the rockstar social club from startup.
I got really ticked off, so i reinstalled vista. complete format, everything. didn't mess with services or startup or anything, just let it run on its own. my startup is now 1min 45 seconds! and i can only crysis on medium at 23fps.....which really sucks.
does anybody have any ideas why? I have posted this question in yahoo answers and i get all sorts of people who don't read and tell me to disable this service, disable stuff in my startup....i have the exact same number of startup items and services running on those 3 scenarios.....
My CPU is hitting 97 degrees while playing games, and idles at around 75 degrees. the only problem is this time is that the vents are clear because more air blows out of them than previously. raising the laptop doesnt help much... it only knocks about 5 degrees off and still hits in the 90 degree range. could there possibly be a problem with my laptop because it shouldnt really be hitting 97 because according to intel the thermal specification for the P7350 is 90 degrees...
So lately (the last few days, just out of nowhere) I've been starting to have a problem with an XPS m1330. Every now and again the notebook starts Windows
A lot of the times it doesn't go past the welcome screen (after entering the user password etc.)
If it does get past the welcome screen it just is extremely slow for the first 5-7min then, it's normal again .....
When I unplug the charger, the laptop returns to normal speed. Does anyone know the reason why this is occurring and if it can be fixed?
Also, I don't think the laptop is actually charging
In the task manager I see the CPU usage at around 20% when its not plugged in, and the moment I plug it in, it goes to 100%, then I unplug it and it instantly goes back to 20%.
I have a Dell XPS 1530 and at school, my computer connects to the wireless internet fine and has normal speed as if it were connected to an ethernet cord, but at home,
it connects but is extremely slow. There are other laptops that connect to the router and they have fast speeds. My computer has vista home premium, 4 gb, intel core 2 duo cpu, t8300 @ 2.40 ghz.
Have an HP 2000-208CA Notebook that came with 64 bit, WIN7. This notebook is extremely slow. The processor and memory I believe is the biggest issue with this notebook. Have installed WIN7, 32 bit. Now can't find the correct wifi drivers for this notebook. Have downloaded all wifi drivers that were listed for WIN7, 32bit for an HP 2000-208CA notebook, but none of them work. Any alternative wifi drivers?
I just did a OneKeyRecovery to reset the notebook (original Win8); after that I did an upgrade to Win8.1; now the notebook boots (reboot/shutdown) very slow, booting takes >5 min; when it's up it's quite ok.
Assume an issue with the SSD cache, SSD is not visible (device manager etc,), reinstalled smartcache, smartcache doesn't find an SSD....
Today my battery charging stopped working properly.
It does charge (or seems so) but it takes about 5 hours for each 1% percent.
The battery is the 9 cells one and the charger is 150 w.
The battery wage is at about 50% but it was charging as fast as always until today.
Things I have already tried:
- Charger is recognized by the BIOS as a 150 w charger.
- The laptop works without the battery (with the charger plugged in, obviously).
- Reflashed BIOS (version is A19).
- Recalibration of the battery.
All the warranty periods are over (both laptop and battery). Is it possible that I need a new charger even though the laptop is working without battery? Could I need a new battery?
Not sure why, but my 13 month old laptop has just started running really hot lately. It froze completely the other day while playing Battlefield 2 on it...
here's a screenshot of the temps it's reading coming from 2 different programs...
I've had my HP envy Touchsmart 15-J102sa for about 3 months now and ever since I've had it, it runs really slow at time. It's occurs more often when I'm on the internet browsing or watching a video on youtube. When It starts running slow, it say the page is not responding for about 3 mins then it displays the page and start working at normal speed again. I really need any sort of solutions that might fix it, I know for a fact that it's not a virus because I scan pc everytime I turn it on.Â
lately my Inspiron 1720 has been running crazy hot, and overheating (actually shutting down) while playing games (specifically Sacred 2).
For example right now I am only running Firefox and HWMonitor, and here is an excerpt from the HWMonitor report:
Intel Mobile Core 2 Duo T5750 hardware monitor
Temperature sensor 070°C (157°F) [0xF] (core #0) Temperature sensor 175°C (166°F) [0xA] (core #1)
In fact shortly after saving that report, my computer actually shut down from heat. I have since restarted it and it is currently running at a roughly constant 52C.
The CPU gets into the 70s and overheats a lot when playing Sacred 2. However, strangely even after closing that game the temperature doesn't come down, such as what happened above .....
I recently bought this laptop (HP Pavillion 17 F035ND) with win8 pre installed.Because of the limits of my school's software I can not use win8.So naturally, I downgraded to win7, and installed everything I needed. But I have problems with 2 drivers, Bluetooth driver and the WLAN driver.Bluetooth won't connect properly, and the WLAN is extremely slow.My driver software says that I need Broadcom drivers for both of them, but the HP downloads only provide Intel or Realtek. Â Is the hardware really Broadcom? I know my way around computers and I searched the entire web.The bluetooth doesn't bother me that much, but I really need the WLAN drivers..link me to the correct drivers for my laptop with win7?
The grill on the left side of my Latitude E6400 gets extremely warm--especially when video is playing. The bottom side of the case, on the left side, gets very warm, as well. I've been able to confirm that the fan behind the grill on the bottom side *does* run periodically; however, the grill and underside remain very warm.
How warm? Right now, after playing a video for about 15 minutes, SpeedFan reports the following temperatures: GPU (162F), HD0 (109F), Temp1 (145F), Core 0 (140F), Core 1 (142F). All of the items except HD0 have a flame icon--indicating an abnormally-high temperature. Worse, I've seen the temperatures considerably higher than the above.
I've had this laptop for about five years. The latest BIOS and drivers are installed. It's working OK, otherwise. This problem started, suddenly, perhaps a year ago.
Today, after I started up my 9300, I noticed that things were running very slow, and my CPU temp was low, too. I8kfan is showing the processor running at exactly 800Mhz. It's a 780, 2.26 Ghz processor
I'm having an issue where my E6500 w. NVS and P9600 CPU runs slow when it gets warm.
In a 30degC ambient room I only have to work the machine for a few minutes before the CPU slows down. I get an event log like -
Quote:
Log Name: System Source: Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-Processor-Power Date: 21/02/2009 4:43:38 PM Event ID: 7 Task Category: (7) Level: Warning Keywords: User: SYSTEM Computer: PICOLTP04.picodon.local Description: The speed of processor 0 is being limited by system firmware. The processor has been in this reduced performance state for 71 seconds since the last report.
After that the CPU is locked to 31% speed. If the load on the CPU continues it will get even slower.
You can also see this in Performance Monitor on Vista, or Resource Monitor on Windows 7, as below-
Temps in the system arent (IMO) getting too high, either-
Same thing in Vista SP1 x64 and Windows 7 Beta x64. Running the latest firmware (A11). On Vista I've tried running with and without all the Dell garbage and get the same result.
I've been trying to get Vista Ultimate to run on my laptop for a while now, and every time I install using a clean installation, it runs painfully slow. If i have more than one window open its not even worth using. So I always run back to XP and I'll be honest in saying that I'm quite bored with it.
how to make it run better with Aero?
My Laptop's Specs Are Brand: Acer Extensa 4220 CPU: Intel Celeron CPU 560 - 2.13GHz RAM: 1GB DDR2 Graphics: Moblie Intel GMA X3100
I have Windows XP installed through boot camp, and it seems the hard drive is acting very very slow. Or basically XP in general. Installations are taking a very long time. It literally took 4 hours to install Modern Warfare 2. In case anyone is wondering I have the 2008 iMac 2.4 Ghz, 1 GB RAM, 7200rpm HD. Also in device manager, under SM bus controller there is a yellow question mark, could that be part of the problem?
I recently received a brand new Aspire V5-123-3496 as a gift however after a week of use it still runs very slow. Although I primarily use the internet, I have google chrome, it is also general processes that take long. For example, to open the start menu, then to choose a program then for the program to open can take several minutes.
I dropped my dv2000t Pavilion laptop and now the dvd tray won't open. Maybe I need to replace the tray. I need to take the laptop apart and I wonder does anybody know where there are instructions on disassembly of the laptop. Also, how can I buy parts to replace broken parts?
I've taken apart from 1730 and made sure there was no dust and its quite clean, its sitting up at the back so air is flowing through under it but when playing games all on low settings (playing demigod)
it still slows down when a lot is happening on screen, and the laptop gets extremely hot - even some parts are too hot to touch.
My PC model # is G42-490TU  , Product # LR783PA#ACJ , Processor - Intel Core (TM)i3 CPU M370 , RAM : 2.00 GB (1.86 GB usable) , System Type : 32-bit Operating System .  My PC has been running very slow lately . It hangs , freezes , pages become unresponsive and hence, it takes lot of time to type . I have to use it daily for work  so, I want to resolve this asap.  Would like to increase its speed to be able to work smoothly on it daily. Would like PC to run fast. How to increase its RAM ? Does it cost to increase the RAM ?  Also , reading some prev posts I downloaded this link - [URL] ..... to determine the chipset info and following is the result I received . Pls let me know if increasing the RAM to 4GB will resolve my system concerns making it  run fast and does not lead to any hangs / freezes etc .  How to go about increasing the RAM ?
My X1 Carbon started running super slow since last week. The disk C: shows I still have 49.2 GB free space to use. So I think the problem does not relate to the space size. I am wondering if there is any way to clear something in my computer and make it run as fast as before.
So i bought a Dell Inspiron n5050 5 months ago . The first day i got it i went to play games with my friends and stayed at least 10 hours playing.
The next day it went slower , in fact in minecraft the first day it was running on 120fps  and on the next day about 70 - 60.
also , the laptop kept on getting blue screens and black screens and sometimes didnt turn on.
I still play games like League of Legends and Minecraft with friends and now the fps suddenly dropped . in minecraft 70 - 60 to 20 - 30 and in league of legends constant lag when someone uses a skill / attacks.
Whenever i go to sleep i just close my laptop , i dont shut it down and also i run at least 6 hours a day. Ive also heard that it might be the cooling fan that has dust in it, however im not sure. I want it to run smooth again . Ive reseted to factory setting twice and its still running slow.
