May 8, 2009Recently my games and videos are running real slow on XP.
Especially noticeable while sounds are going, for example on youtube, sounds like its on slow motion.

Apr 17, 2009I've taken apart from 1730 and made sure there was no dust and its quite clean, its sitting up at the back so air is flowing through under it but when playing games all on low settings (playing demigod)
it still slows down when a lot is happening on screen, and the laptop gets extremely hot - even some parts are too hot to touch.

Aug 26, 2009I have a problem with my Combo device (TSSTcorp) on my Dell Inspiron. When I burn a DVD data disk with Nero it is burned at 1X to 1.2X. It doesn't matter which speed I have set (4X or 8X). So it takes approximately 50 minutes to burn a full DVD and after that the verification takes same time at this speed again.
When I burn a CD the real speed is again slower than the speed I have chosen. And at the end of the burning process I get a message saying that "buffer underrun error has been avoided hundreds of times" or something like this.

Feb 20, 2010I have Windows XP installed through boot camp, and it seems the hard drive is acting very very slow. Or basically XP in general. Installations are taking a very long time. It literally took 4 hours to install Modern Warfare 2. In case anyone is wondering I have the 2008 iMac 2.4 Ghz, 1 GB RAM, 7200rpm HD. Also in device manager, under SM bus controller there is a yellow question mark, could that be part of the problem?

Jan 31, 2015I've noticed when playing vidoes, the video frames update at a slower pace to the point where it feels that movie is being played in slow motion. Sometimes this conditions stays longer other for few minutes. It does not make any differene if I am streaming or playing a movie stored on the HD (machine doesn't have CD drive).
I've ensure there are no other apps running that might seep power away from main processor/RAM or video processor. All the drivers are latest & greatest and I don't see any warnings anywhere in the system manager.
It has Win 8 and Intel HD Graphics 4000 with 1.6G of video RAM which seems decent enough to play a video file smoothly.

Sep 14, 2014My Aspire V3-771 is a little over a year old now. I don't know much about computers, but i do enjoy several pc games, and watch a lot of streaming videos. when doing so my computer almost always shuts itself off, even while running games that could hardly be called graphic intensive. I'd thought it might be an overheating issue? but i don't think that's the case.
I've also noticed that, within the task manager, the disk will often jump to 100%.
Again, for months after i bought the machine, it worked perfectly fine. many of the programs that it used to run, now cause it to shut down without warning.

Feb 7, 2015So I reinstalled my windows on my laptop, a few months ago and after that I noticed that my games load very slow.(All games).
One example is Dota 2, it takes about 4 mins to load to the main menu and then I have to start an offline bot match in order to load the map which also takes ~5 minutes. I didn't had this problem before reinstalling the windows and I really don't know what can be the problem...sure I installed all my drivers but not sure if they were good since you get tons of drivers for things your laptop doesn't even have

I tested the laptop with COD Word at Conflict Benchmark and the frame rate was about 12 (maximum) for max setting, 14 (maximum) for medium setting. I can not play the game smoothly and I don't know what the reason is?

Nov 23, 2014I have a v3 571G laptop core i7 with a geforce 640m video card. Is not the faster video card but can handle advance video games in medium to high. Every time I play any video games, with settings from medium to high, at the beginning the fps are around 34 to 40 but after 10 to 20 min of playing, the fps gets down to 12 to 20 specially when there is explosions and such. Is my laptop video card dying or is something else?

ac plugged in -> fan works fast.
ac not plugged in -> fan works a lot slower

Feb 21, 2009I'm having an issue where my E6500 w. NVS and P9600 CPU runs slow when it gets warm.
In a 30degC ambient room I only have to work the machine for a few minutes before the CPU slows down. I get an event log like -

Although I primarily use the internet, I have google chrome, it is also general processes that take long. Mar 23, 2014I have an HP ENVY TS 17 Notebook with NVIDIA GT 740M and Intel 4600HD Graphics Drivers, and running Windows 7. Whenever I want to change the resolution in games to a lower resolution than the desktop resolution, the game shrinks its view leaving couple of inches black bars on the edges. For example if my desktop resolution is 1920x1080, and I want to run a game in 1600x900, the game doesn't fill the screen, instead, it leaves some amount of blank space on the edges of the screen.
In order to solve this problem, I tried the following steps:First I tried to locate the Display tab in NVIDIA Control panel in order to set scaling/stretching to 'Full Screen', but my version of NVIDIA CP doesn't have the Display Tab (My NVIDIA drivers are the latest version).Then I found out that I should do this from the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel. My Intel HD Graphics CP has an option named "Scaling" under Display > Display Settings, and it only shows the option Maintain Display Scaling which is checked by default and doesn't allow changing it. Also, after searching through internet I saw that some people suggested entering the 'Advanced Settings' and trying to make changes there. When I try to enter Advanced Settings under Display, it says "This display does not support any of the advanced settings".
After trying these without success, I tried updating the Intel's driver through their website hoping this can fix the problem. I ran Intel's small application on their website which identifies my chipset and suggests me the latest driver for that chipset. The website told me that the driver that is installed on my computer is 10.18.10.3304, and there is an update for this which is 15.33.18.64.3496 (or 10.18.10.3496). So I downloaded the file, but when I tried running it, it gave me this error message: "The drivre being installed is not validated for this computer. Please obtain the appropriate driver from the computer manufacturer. Setup will now exit." which doesn't make any sense.

Nov 2, 2008I'm guessing I did this to myself somehow but I can't figure out how to fix it. It originally came with Visa but I downgraded to XP and had been using it without problems for awhile. It started getting a little slow so I recently installed (and soon after uninstalled) a bunch of optimizing / driver updating programs. After playing around with those, my laptop is running super slow... I can't watch videos, the buffer causes it to just show the image while the audio plays... After running Dr. Hardware it looks like my CPU is only running at 800mhz which is a lot slower than it used to.

Mar 2, 2010i just disassembled my dv5t to fix an issue i was having with the screen. the screen seems to work fine now however it is running ungodly slow.
in order to get to my screen cables i had to take out the Following:
-hard drive
-WLAN module
-Switch cover & keyboard
-the display bezel
i'm not exactly sure what might be causing this because it was working just fine (except for my screen issue) before the disassembly
also it seems to run a little bit better in safe mode but its still slow
after playing with it for a while its main problem is booting and programs are crashing. it takes about 10 minutes to fully boot and then it runs at a normal speed however programs keep crashing like crazy.

My PC has been running very slow lately . It hangs , freezes , pages become unresponsive and hence, it takes lot of time to type . I have to use it daily for work so, I want to resolve this asap.
Would like to increase its speed to be able to work smoothly on it daily. Would like PC to run fast. How to increase its RAM ? Does it cost to increase the RAM ?
Also , reading some prev posts I downloaded this link - [URL] ..... to determine the chipset info and following is the result I received . Pls let me know if increasing the RAM to 4GB will resolve my system concerns making it run fast and does not lead to any hangs / freezes etc .

Mar 9, 2013So i bought a Dell Inspiron n5050 5 months ago . The first day i got it i went to play games with my friends and stayed at least 10 hours playing.
The next day it went slower , in fact in minecraft the first day it was running on 120fps and on the next day about 70 - 60.
also , the laptop kept on getting blue screens and black screens and sometimes didnt turn on.
I still play games like League of Legends and Minecraft with friends and now the fps suddenly dropped . in minecraft 70 - 60 to 20 - 30 and in league of legends constant lag when someone uses a skill / attacks.
Whenever i go to sleep i just close my laptop , i dont shut it down and also i run at least 6 hours a day. Ive also heard that it might be the cooling fan that has dust in it, however im not sure. I want it to run smooth again . Ive reseted to factory setting twice and its still running slow.
