I recently reformatted and installed xp on my Aspire 5680-6123, and finding drivers is tough. Ive got most of the things working, except for the Ethernet adapter. The drivers ive tried are the broadcom ones from the acer site, but nothing seems to work. The default drivers xp wants to install do not work either.
Maybe im just doing something wrong, installing the drivers incorrectly.
My Acer Aspire 5860 is a great laptop.
Other than the power issue I am having.
It is just over a year old ( out of warranty)
It won't power up from the battery ( which is still in good condition, hardy used)
I bought a new battery, just in case ( it is charged and is new)
The battery will charge in the laptop, but won't run from the battery.
I just installed Windows 7 x64 from scratch. Thing is, it shows 4GB of installed memory, but only 3GB is accessible.
Resource Monitor shows 1026MB of memory being "hardware reserved".
I've had this problem ever since adding the 4GBx2 sticks (DDR2-667) in my machine. I've tried 3.50 and 3.60 bios on Acer's site, but it doesn't make a difference.
Processor is a T5500, but the chipset is i945PM, so it supports 4GB of ram. Is there a way to remap the ram so that the whole 4GB can be used?
What processor should i buy to upgrade the T5600 on this machine? T7200 will work? Which specification should it have?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an acer aspire 5750z computer, a while back my wifi suddenly stopped working, but the ethernet is fine. I've searched the internet and tried to install the required driver (Atheros), but when I try it says that the "drive might have been ejected please reinsert it now" or something along those lines. When I go to the driver manager the wifi driver isn't even listed under network adapters, oonly the ethernet drver was there. I've heard that if your computer has had a virus or if you had dropped it the wifi card might have been damaged and I wanted to know if that's true, and if so can I buy a new wifi card?

I have a hp mini 210-2145. It had windows 7 home edition 32bit on it but I formatted it and put windows 7 professional 64 bit on. I cant get the wifi to work. I finally got the regular plug in to work but still no wifi. I have went to the driver site and installed both chip sets. and downloaded a bunch of the internet drivers listed on the network drivers list. After installing a bunch of them i noticed the system scan. It detected that i had a 802.11b/g/n WLAN. Thats the irst one on the site so i redownloaded and instaled it and it still isnt working. In the device manager it shows the yellow exclamation and just says ethernet controller.

i install xp service pack 3. (with nLite helps)
also the wifi dosen't work (i think the device is not installed)

I just got my 7520 and have wiped Vista off it and installed Ubuntu and Xp, my nix is fine I am havin trouble finding drivers for XP and most of the vista drivers dont work in XP, I have managed to find Wifi and sound worked pretty much straight away but cant seem to find anything else that will work for me..... anyone got any ideas to help with this, I have tried driver download apps(like driver detective) and they dont seem to want to find the nvidia graphics driver.

But when I plug this lead in my laptop just stays connected to to my wireless network. I tried disabling the Wireless on my computer then putting the lead in but still it wont attempt to connect to the internet with the ethernet lead in. My laptop doesn't detect my ethernet card, so when I plug a cable in, only the yellow light at the top left of the port flashes, whereas the green light at the top right of the port does not light up. I get no signal at all. In Network Connections it shows that I only have a Wireless Connection and not LAN. Device Manager shows 3 Unknown Devices, however when I downloaded my Atheros driver from Acer's website the driver said that my hardware could not be found.

i just got this notebook listed on the title right? Mostly everything works perfectly.
Except apparently i have to update my Drivers for the Intel(R) GMA Driver for Mobile. So i look at the Intel website no drivers found, or ones that needed updates..
So Ive been told that in some cases for laptops you must go to the computer manufacturers website and find the drivers there, this website being Acer. But it seems there is no trace for Aspire 5735-4624 Drivers ANYWHERE. I think the laptop is fairly new but there has to be SOME drivers somewhere right? I am not sure if this is a problem for any other people out there, or i am just not looking hard enough?
I just bought an aspire 4730 from staples yesterday. It comes with Vista Home Premium 32bit, but I'd like to install vista 64bit on it. The CPU supports it. It has a T3400
I went to acer support here [url] and looked up drivers for the 4730Z/4730ZG but the drivers that are shown are for the aspire 4330.
And the only 64 bit drivers shown are for bluetooth (which the 4730 doesnt have), Intel graphics, and nvidia graphics (which it doesnt have).
Where can i get wifi, motherboard, touchpad drivers for this model if i decide to run vista 64 on it?
should i call acer support and ask them if vista 64 is supported?
