I've bought an Acer Aspire 5738ZG notebook not so long ago, it came with Windows Vista OS. I'm using it with that OS since 2 weeks now, but i decided to change to OS to Windows XP, cuz I like that more.
My problem is that after I boot the install CD of XP, the process crashed after some time, at this point. It gives me a blue screen, and asks me to restart the notebook. I really want to use XP,
I just bought a laptop (acer aspire 5738ZG) and i've been having some problems installing windows vista. When I first turned on the laptop a windows vista home edition installation started. There was no dvd in it, it was something like acer recovery (i don't remember exactly). I didn't want vista home edition, so I cancelled the installation. I inserted the Vista Ultimate DVD and I couldn't install it. The error message is "Windows could not update the computer's boot configuration. Installation cannot proceed". I tried again to install Vista Ultimate, but this error kept appearing. So I removed the vista ultimate dvd and restarted the laptop. The vista home edition installation appeared again but it too encountered an error message ("Fail to get image's DAT file.").
I also tried installing windows xp and got a blue screen error..
Built in mic on my Aspire 5738ZG don't work properly when I use Skype. I'm on windows xp, 32 bit. I installed Audio Realtek drivers from Acer officialy web site but sound of mic is still very low. Other people said that they hear me very bad when we talk on Skype for example. What I can do?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a hard drive of 500 GB on windows vista ultimate. When I installed vista on it I forgot to make 2 partitions so I made a 500 gb partition, which i don't like. I had ~80 GB used out of 500. Using vista's computer management I've managed to create a partition of ~140 GB, from the free space of the 500 GB partiton. I don't understand why it won't let me create a 350 GB partition, since there was about 400 GB free... Anyway, now I have a 300 GB partition with 100 GB used and windows vista ultimate on it and a 140 GB partition with 50 GB used. How can I make the windows partition of 150 GB and the second one from 140 into ~300 without having to reinstall windows / format ? Vista's computer management doesn't let me do this, i don't know why exactly.

I have a HDMI cable from my laptop Aspire 5738ZG to my PHILIPS HD Ready TV. Now the picture shows just fine but I've got no sound at all on my TV.
I have tried reinstalling a lot of drivers without success . If anyone knows what's causing this problem please tell me, as I really want sound on my TV while watching movies etc.
I just bought a new Aspire 6930G, which obviously comes preinstalled with Vista. I want to install XP on it and I need the drivers. Does anyone have a list of all the drivers that I need in order to complete this installation?

Fortunately, there are official XP drivers for this model on the Acer support website. I've downgraded before and know the procedure of slipstreaming the SATA drivers. Which drivers do I slipstream for this model? I noticed on the drivers page there is a SATA AHCI Driver. Is this the driver to slipstream?

Every time I put the bootable disk in to install windows xp it will get to the point of saying starting windows then I get the blue screen of death. How can I install windows xp? Right now it has vista home basic

I know that deleting the pq service partition is not wise but I would rather have xp pro. How do I delete pq service? Also, is this action reversible? If I can install xp can I ever go back to the manufacturer OS? I have created the restore cd's but will they work without the pq service partition.

I installed empowering technology, then I installed enet, eperformance, and esettings for it, I tried installing epower management but it says I need net frame 1.1 but yet I installed 2.0 then 3.5 yesterday.. and it still doesn't work. I want to install Vista 64 bit on it, as the original comes with a 32 bit version which I do not want.
Anyways, when i boot from my vista CD it goes into the installation menu. But after i choose the language, it says "No device drivers were found. Make sure that the installation media contain the correct drivers, and then click ok"
I got all my laptop drivers and put them onto a USB stick and tried that, but it did not work.
I got windows 8 when i got the computer from the store 1 year ago, and I install windows 7 now and i cant get the wireless internet to work for me. i have tried the HWWVendor detector and it says that i got broadcom and i downloaded those drivers and its not working.

1. bought a used Acer Aspire 7741G-6426 from my brother-in-law.
2. he had removed the hard drive, for security reasons
3. I bought and installed a Solid State Drive
4. I downloaded Windows 7 Home Premium from the Microsoft site
5. installed, successfully, Windows
6. Now, no Internet access. Device Manager shows an Ethernet Controller, but says the device driver for it is not installed. No wireless controller is found.
7. I downloaded the Broadbank LAN device driver from the Acer site (on another computer, of course; carried it over to the laptop on a USB drive). When I try to update the driver, Device Manager says it finds the driver but it is missing a file.
Is there another place to get drivers? Is there a self-installing driver available?
Trying too install windows 7 ultimate using Acer recovery disk's,it's hanging up everytime at ( installing cleanup 43-44). It's a 8951G-9630 Acer aspire.

I have Acer Aspire 5742G notebook and I'm having problems installing the Windows 7 OS on my new SSD hard drive (I bought the SSD because the original hard drive is failing and making blue screens all the time...)For the factory restore, I'm using restore discs. I burned the discs few years back when the laptop insisted me of doing it (by using eRecovery or something, 3 dvds total).
The computer tries to install the OS with the dvds (asks to insert a dvd and then press a key). The actual problem is that the installer is just going in loops, restarting and eventually freezing in the end.. Reboot -> Acer logo -> Windows is loading files... -> Starting windows -> Reboot -> etc.That kept going for more than a hour (on the first dvd!) and suddenly it just froze on the "starting windows" screen.. So I had to reboot and star over again.I can still use my old formatted HDD, should I make new set of recovery discs or use an USB drive?
I just got a Acer Aspire V3 771-6605 with Windows 8.1. My touch pad wouldn't scroll or respond to any finger gestures, so I tried installing the ELANTECH and Synaptics touch pad drivers from the acer support site for my laptop. However, after I restarted the computer I keep getting stuck at the screen right before where you put in your password (the lock screen?). The only keys that seem to do anything are the function keys.
